For every Tiote, Cabaye, and Ba there's a load more bargain basement nobodies we've acquired with little return. We've done good business in the transfer windows but its pure luck if you ask me. We broke the bank to bring in our best players in the mid 90's, there were a few flops but what about Ginola, Les, Shearer, Asprilla we wouldn't have come so close without spending the money on these guys. If a football club operates on a shoestring then they can kiss goodbye to pushing for Europe again, it isn’t going to happen. I would accept the current situation if we would at least hang on to our home grown talent, that cost us nothing anyway. We could have kept AC and signed Ba on a free anyway. This "selling club" thing is still laughable. Who have we actually sold purely for the money? One player, for the most inflated transfer fee imaginable. Leazes' favourite argument centres around an assumption of what we might do in the future.

Hold on a minute, he's joined a club in a new country, can't speak the language, and has still scored 2 in 4. That we've not found the perfect system that utilises both Ba and Cisse yet isn't a surprise either. Pardew was pretty critical of him after the game, albeit fairly and rightly so.

As an OOT - and I appreciate I read most of this stuff on a Toon forum - let me just say that the vast majority of Sunderland fans I hear about seem to have a very strange view of the world. Would like to think they're just the vocal minority.
