Is it beyond the realms of possibility that his views are genuine; and that despite their contrary nature, they're not actually intended to offend or wind anyone up? I imagine any facetious comments he makes might have something to do with the amount of vitriol he gets off certain posters. He certainly doesn't react well to certain things.
