  1. Constitutionally maybe, but really, morally, they aren't. And we all know it, and they are fucked whichever way they decide to go now.
  2. Looks like they are now dumping the triple lock on pensions. Another tick on their suicide box. [I have to say, I don't think pensioners should get special treatment over working families on tax credits btw, but this is going to hugely fuck off their voter base].
  3. Nice to see how democratic the tory party is. No need for an election for the new tory leader apparently. Of course, I seriously doubt the parliamentary party could agree on a "unity" candidate anyway.
  4. Yep. Mind the tories were pretty vocal in cheering it when it was announced in parliament, particularly the bits about tax cuts for the ultra-rich.
  5. Was thinking about this the other day, it would make complete sense for us to rejoin at the same time to preserrve the fluidity of the border, and chances are rUK would be heading that direction anyway. But can you imagine the fewm from the gammons if we rejoined the EU because of Scottish independence?!
  6. Even Sunak can't control the mighty blue rinse brigade.
  7. Get in, my bet is looking better again. What do I win btw? Oh, and fuck you PL!
  8. Hold on, if she does go tonight, isn't the deputy PM normally the acting PM until they get another one, however they do that? That's Therese Coffey.
  9. I think even you might have given her too much time on reflection. But I've cast my vote now.
  10. Howay then, let's do the sweepstake. I'm going for Wednesday 19th October, 5pm.
  11. Of course they do. But there is no mechanism for it, is there? If the tories try to carry on with a newly coronated leader though I think they are literally finished as a party. They might already be anyway. I can't see any way out for them now.
  12. i think she's gone either today or after PMQ on Wednesday.
  13. Jesus Christ. She's just said she's in "lock step" with Hunt. That's exactly what she said about Kwarteng on Thursday.
  14. Yeah, I agree 90% witrh what he says I just think things happened more organically rather than design. It's like they (the MSM) have personified "the markets". Well no, they aren't a sentient entity. TYhey are the rules of the system. For me it highlights the weakness of our consitution that a bunch intellectually lightweights could get their hands on the levers of power. And this is what needs to most urgently addressed, and also why I am pretty lack lustre about Starmer.
  15. Yeah, true. Problem with empathy is you make the assumption the person you project it on is a normal functioning human being with a conscience. That's not the case for a large sway of the conservative parliamentary party. But don't call them scum or detest them, whatever you do.
  16. There is no way she can survive this week now imo. Watching the presser on Friday she looked broken. I'm a compassionate person and I hope she steps down for the sake of her own health. The sooner she does this the better for all of us.
  17. I think there's elements of truth here but I don't accept the implication that the ERG or IEA had a detailed plan as such spanning decades. Chaos is a cruel mistress. Again though its interesting we have Hunt as the de facto PM now, that certianly wasn't in the script.
  18. Well we'll see how long it takes to U turn on that too.
  19. Public services austerity: tick Energy price increases: tick Mortgage rates going up: tick No tax reductions: tick Gemmill's right, Hunt the Cunt will be the most hated man in Britain.
  20. Isn't that what Labour recommended? Have these cunts got a single good idea in their heads?
  21. So the next U turn might be the energy cap apparently! Is it possible for a party to poll negatively?
  22. Here's an anology of the tory party for you I've just thought of. Newcastle United 2nd April 2005. Having appointed and awful manager, NUFC are getting annihilated by a mediocre beige opposition. Some of the team are pretending to be dead, but get sent off anyway. Other members of the team, including the frothing racist right wing of it, are openly fighting with each other in plain sight, and are about to be sent off. Short-term outcome is utter humiliation. Long-term sequelae is gradual decline of the club, leading to eventual relegation four years later.
