  1. Might as well imagine his mother isn’t also his sister while they’re at it
  2. He’ll probably find sone other grift when he inevitably loses his seat. I’d love to see him become destitute though. Even that’s more than he deserves
  3. Odd because Felling lies within the historic ceremonial county of Durham. Which belongs entirely to Sunderland
  4. Ferguson’s Man Utd had a few different incarnations but they definitely had sides that were good at winning the ball high up the pitch. Agree with what you say on the whole though. I think modern pitches (with UV lighting so they’re good all the time) and fitness levels are a massive factor. It’ll go out of vogue, for more possession based football (or whatever), then no doubt come back again.
  5. Exactly. If someone knew nothing about football then the term ‘sitting deep and soaking up pressure’ would explain the concept. Low block wouldn’t. Obviously a lot of this is teasing but it’s just shorthand for a way of playing. It isn’t a better explanation
  6. Well the concept of total football is based around players moving around and positions being interchangeable, rather than rigid. But equally the football played by Ajax, The Netherlands and Feyenoord back then was based around a high press and winning the ball high up the pitch. But even as a relatively recent concept it’s been used since the early 90s. Almost certainly due to the change in the back pass law
  7. Aye, but what about drawing with QPR?
  8. I’ll trust the people making the decisions if it happens. However it could easily be a case of a journalist putting 2 and 2 together without any basis beyond us being in for Gordon. It’s silly season season for speculation
  9. Remember when the mags knew they couldn’t make as a big a tip of Covent Garden as we did, marra? So instead of drinking cans and pissing in the street there, they went in the pubs there instead? Then the the whole of America walked past on holidayah, and asked them if they’d heard of Sunderland because it’s the most famous club in the world because of Netflix
  10. I like how he spends his whole time in our match threads telling people not to watch a game he’s clearly sat there viewing himself
  11. They’re imagining (and then actually) getting upset about us being bothered about the stuff which means everything to them. Like having loads of fans in Trafalgar Square. Which, in point of fact is the sort of petty shit none of us are actually bothered about. Have I got that right? It seems to be the case but it’s mental even but their standards
  12. Deep is the opposite of high in terms of long established football terminology regrading the area of the pitch relative to your opponent’s goal. That’s his point.
  13. I get that. I think Howe’s rationale might be that Wilson has another week to get more fit. On top of that Isak and ASM on the bench gives fantastic options from the bench. The changes in the amount of subs allowed has made it even more of a squad game than ever. I think Isak is absolutely going to be a regular starter soon though
