This whole ‘pride in our brilliant young team’ shit is the new classy club. Just as fucking fake too

Covent Garden genuinely looked like there’d been some sort of disaster (and I suppose there had been) the day after those fucking bamps had visited.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Alex replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Saying it’s up for sale or saying it isn’t are two sides of the same coin tbh. Utterly meaningless until a serious bidder comes along. Like Ashley with his patter about the club being back on or off the market. It’s just to try and dampen down speculation in this instance. -
Didn’t really mean it as a criticism of Willock or the way he’s been performing. But he’s the most likely to miss out if ASM were to come in imo. But I’d actually be surprised if we didn’t see the same starting XI for the second leg.

Sounds like a fantasista

Aye, do you think we’re interested in being liked and getting patted on the head for being plucky, honourable losers? Fuck off, you arrogant cunt.

We’ve got a far superior goal difference to them, from a lot less league games, in the division above them. I’ll take that

The other thing is sides have cottoned on a bit that lots of stuff was coming down the right with Almiron and Trippier. And having Burn and Joelinton - like it’s been - on the left will never create as much. So starting ASM could open up more room on the right by drawing players to him. But it also gives us a threat down the left. It leaves us a bit more open in theory but you’ve still got the same rock solid back line / gk. And a midfield 3 of Joelinton/Bruno/Longstaff is not going to shirk any defensive responsibilities

Aye. I think Howe’s really happy with the solidity of the team that’s been starting the vast majority of the matches. Then he does have some attacking options on the bench if needed, especially Isak and ASM. We’ve basically gotten where we are by being so hard to beat, then nicking the odd goal. I can see why sticking with that makes most sense to him.
-
I wouldn’t be averse to playing Isak and Wilson with the former nominally wide left. Joelinton drops to midfield then. Harsh on Willock but Wilson and Isak might take the pressure off each other. I actually think Isak was bought to play (at least some of the time initially) to play on the right. But he got injured and Almiron had a purple patch. We still don’t have a lot on the bench to change a game though so that probably is part of the thinking re: holding Isak back a bit too

I meant her (JHB) ends up like him. But agreed, he’s fucking horrible
