The government line is that Labour and the unions etc criticised them for planning to open schools and are now criticising them for not doing that. Not true of course, the criticism is about how they’ve had to renege on the reopening of schools because it wasn’t properly planned.

The one thing the police could rely on was the Tories having their back. As that has eroded over the last decade and a bit to the point where even the thickest copper can see they don’t give a fuck about them then you can see why they aren’t prepared to put their bodies on the line anymore. That’s an observation rather than a defence of them.

You get the distinct impression they’re attempting to stick to the timetable they had in place for the relaxation of lockdown regardless of the circumstances on the ground. With them trying to make the scientific evidence fit into that timetable instead of the former determining the latter. And the only thing as predictable as their not having proper plans to implement the relaxation is their blaming of teachers, unions etc for pointing out their failures.

One of the many funny things about them kicking off about this, especially in light of their ‘classy club’ deluded bollocks is that the clubs that voted to end the season now will have done so for a variety of different reasons. Some for the greater good, some for their own survival in financial terms and some because it was advantageous in terms of their league position and so on. But they’re all scum of course. Whereas the mackems voted purely in their own interest, but that’s ok. Obviously you can see why they did it but how the fuck does that make them any better than any of the other clubs and their reasons for voting as they did? One of the best bits was the talk of boycotting away games until someone pointed out there were only four clubs that voted to continue playing, including themselves

Reminds me of where I used to work. There was a French onion seller used to come round once a year. He married a lady from up here. The onions, shallots and garlic he sold were amazing. He featured on the Normandy episode of ‘Coast’ a few years later after he’d retired. I made some lovely French onion soup with them a few times. I do a pretty decent curry using these mixed spices packs we get to which you add fresh garlic, ginger, lemon and so on. We started using them when our lass was going to slimming world but I make them using coconut oil instead of the spray fry light shit they suggest. I wouldn’t say they’re authentic takeaway style but they’re easy to make and a canny bit healthier. I find it makes a difference cooking the onions first for a good 20 mins. I love takeaway curries but not every week like I would eat these. That’s my shit cooking anecdote.
