Haven’t been there for nearly 30 years. Is it still a fucking shit tip?

Promoting sexuality -
Seen a fair bit of speculation that the Brighton success doesn’t have that much to do with him. He wasn’t there that long. As I’ve mentioned before, considering his sort of role is about the medium and long term as much as the present, he doesn’t seem to hang around places long enough for that to come to be properly assessed. Also, wasn’t he behind Allardyce getting the England job? The more I hear about him the more I think he talks a good game

Ashley was a county squash player when he was younger I think. It’s difficult to believe Steve Bruce was once a top class centre half when you see him now I suppose. Re: the Ashley/Radcliffe comparisons. It’s a sign of his huge arrogance that the latter thought all he had to do was rock up apply some ‘business practices’ and Man Utd would be great again. He’s fired staff and put the ticket prices up. As though that does owt when you’ve got Rashford and Antony on £300k/ £200k a week anyway. Quite apart from making zero difference on the pitch -

Yeah. That’s a good point actually. And fair enough. Same sec marriage is allowed in lots of churches now, you can be gay and be one of the clergy etc. -
It’ll be interesting to see their published accounts. It’s being reported as £2-3m in some places. I mean if they’re saying that in articles it’s not an exact number so it just sounds like something they’ve been fed from the club. I doubt it was £20m but if it was as low as Radcliffe would like us to think then I think the owners would have just as soon took the hit and kept him on gardening leave. He’ll have received a decent settlement too presumably. Wouldn’t be surprised if the whole thing’s cost more than £10m.

He put a Christian message on, which I think he was asked not to do. I agree with what you say but on that basis either wear it or don’t. Seems like he wanted to have it both ways. Tbh, I wish people would just say they disagree with homosexuality instead of hiding behind religion. I don’t condone the view but at least it’s honest. -

I reckon it’s Radcliffe. Which bodes well if so. He seems to think he can just hire and fire like it’s any other business. Football’s a different animal because there’s a smaller pool of those with the expertise, access to scouting networks and (probably most importantly) the right agents. And while it couldn’t happen to a nicer cunt, if you think someone is the right person for that sort of role then surely you recognise it’s a long term project. He’s been there one window. I know they spent a lot in the summer and there’s not much to show for it on the evidence so far. But what if the new manager gets a tune out of the few signings and they turn out to be good ones? Hilarious though, obviously -

He’ll have made a small fortune but at least his reputation is in tatters both from a tangible results point of view and his complete lack of loyalty or scruples. The fucking snake. -
he’s eventually posted something funny

While I share the apathy re Forest beating Man Utd, I’m delighted for Chris Wood

Me and my lass have been floored with for about 5 days. Despite being a nurse she hasn’t had the appointment for her flu jab yet. Two of my kids have had the spray. Both ok / minor symptoms. The other one hasn’t had theirs. We’re waiting on an appointment for him to get a jab as the nasal administered one caused an allergic reaction last year. And he’s been really poorly with it. So a combination of that and the symptoms suggests it’s the fucking flu. The real one, not the one people say they’ve got when they’ve got a cold. On the plus side I’ve barely eaten and have lost about three quarters of a stone already. So swings and roundabouts. Apparently there’s 350% more hospital admissions for flu than the same time 12 months ago so there must be loads of it going around

I mean it’s the result that matters (NEE FUCKING SHIT!) but he gets stick for not rotating enough and that being blamed on our injury problems last year in hindsight too

Although the apartment is a sort of rom com it’s Billy Wilder so there’s plenty cynicism in there. To be honest in lots of ways that’s what Christmas is also about, so it’s equally valid. And I say that as someone who doesn’t mind a little bit of sentimentality at this time of year. Re: the two ‘traditional’ Xmas stories we mentioned. Ones really about reminding the main character how many lives he’s he’s touched in a positive way, when he’s in his darkest times. The other is about how it’s never too late to change. I mean that’s my main takeaways from them.
-
Well Sim just hams it up. As he does. I loved him in the st trinnians films which they used to show a lot when I was a kid.
-
I’d recommend The Apartment if you’ve never seen it. Anyway practically all Christmas films are about something else and set at Christmas. It’s not like you get many depicting the birth of Jesus is it? I’d argue even It’s A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol aren’t really about Christmas.

I was just about to say I’ve got little sympathy for anyone who thought it might be a decent investment. Fucking morons
-
Right, I’ll go with 5 I’d pretty much have to watch if I stumbled across them of an evening at this time of year: Die Hard The Apartment It’s A Wonderful Life A Christmas Carol (Alastair Sim version. The George C Scott one is great, but come on - it’s Alastair Sim) Miracle on 34th Street (old B&W version)
