And whilst a lot of this is correct, especially about residents of Bejing - it begs the question, have you visited yet? Most Chinese dont give a damn about the international situation. no ones saying its "benign" and using labels like "the left" shows that something to maintain the status quo of neo-liberalism, "acceptable war" , and the continued expansion of late state capitalism - is working. No war should be acceptable unless you are defending yourself . We've faught wars for "democracy, peoples freedoms" etc and its all been bullshit - its money and resources every single time.

Im going to keep biting though, as it is in my view a bit of propaganda again. Normandy was not the US and the UK - with it being impossible without the USA. Canada, India etc etc all on other beaches. But, the one that doesn't get mentioned but is proper legend in the army is Pointe du Hoc - that team were superheroes (I think that's band of brothers ? too)

I'm not an angry keyboard warrior, just enjoying the forward and back here. That line - do you think that requires a "Live human being" test though? Did they need to kill actual people or could they have just dropped it at a test site? Someone somewhere wanted to see what happened to humans - not just buildings or the Richter scale. If hitler had developed those weapons, he'd have used them on the jews as his final solution , or hook them onto his V2 rockets that could hit most of europe. so thank god he didnt.

Something that also annoys the Russians. They gave so much and were the ones to overthrow the Reichstag, but the US won it .. joining in at the end, after , with the help of GM and IBM assiting both the mechanical war effort and the background final solution. There's two sides of course, the US joining definately contributed, but I think Hitler ended the war by his own hand, trying to fight on two fronts and starting a war with Russia, who may well have just appeased them, the same way the US , UK and France originally did. Haven't you got beans to count ? Still using the abacus?

Better than doing F-All though.

You should have a little more faith in me, I wont make bold statements like that without some factual backup. They were ordered to drop them, not to "end the war" but to take the only opportunity they (the manhatten project) thought that they had to finish the research. They knew if they didn't the enemy would. Two bombs, two different types - which was safer to drop and carry and which was most effective? Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - Wikipedia Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - 1945 | Atomic Heritage Foundation Decision to Drop the Atomic Bomb | Harry S. Truman (trumanlibrary.gov) to be fair though, the USA had no knowledge at all about radiation fallout etc and its long term effects. But to show the otherside, no one talks about the deliberate firebombing of civilian towns beforehand either - which the Japanese often say drove the war to last longer . Final thing on that - is there is an excellent documentary with footage of the Enola gay . The things that went on are incredible (like putting the bomb together shortly after , or during takeoff as they were so worried of it accidentally detonating!)

Yeah Havana, like any major city is dirty , busy and horrible. The rest of the country is properly amazing and people are VERY happy. New Zealand is another - the country is measured on people's happiness or a Standard of Living questionnaire, not GDP .

I just don't buy it - Taiwan has been going on for Centuries. China is into winning the world via debt locking and is doing very well, it owns strategic positions everywhere. The USA has and always will be a warmonger imo.
-
Look into what happened after the end of the 2nd world war , you could ask the same in reverse. I'm not trying to defend either side here - I'm saying its not black and white and we are on one side, subjected to a very singular view which is ANTI Eastern ideology and pro western.

Flashback: Petrodollar Warfare - Saddam abandons Dollar for Euro | empirestrikesblack (it's taken from a time magazine article) Iraq nets handsome profit by dumping dollar for euro | Business | The Guardian Venezuela Drops Petrodollar, US Imposes Sanctions For Drug Trafficking (mintpressnews.com) The USA Attacked Iraq Because Saddam had W$D - CounterPunch.org It's one of those "facts" that's been removed from most websites - because we aren't biased or guilty of our own propaganda. And Im NOT Communist, I am though anti late game capitalism - as its greedy as fuck and literally causing wars, famine and the environmental hellgame we see now. It's unstoppable at this point imo.

Nah, Im more an extinction rebellion / Occupy guy - they are the only rallies I've ever been to.

Is mint btw - crazy that everyone is essentially squatting in the houses of the old "aristocracy" - but it's got a great feel.

For me, it comes back to the key question - why more dangerous . Which country out of China, Russia and the USA - in the last 100 years - has launched the most missiles, faught the most wars, killed the most civilians and launched the most Nuclear warheads (even some that were just for "experimental reasons" , if you don't know about why the two bombs were dropped in japan, its worth a read). For me, thats dangerous. Final point, honestly, if you think Russia and China were aggressive - don't you think they would have taken the chance by now? China sabre rattles about Taiwan , Russia sabre rattles about NATO expansion - but even with 2 million armed forces they haven't invaded anywhere. Can't say the same of the US . The UK has a current force of 60,000 Army by the way, less than wembley. Oh and we dont need tanks...
-
I think the USA are more dangerous than Russia - ask yourself how many civilians have died during warfare at the hands of USA proxy wars, compared to the Russians. The USA have , through their need to push ideology and fear of anything that reduces the market for capitalism (or their GDP) , created most of the enemies we are fighting. I still believe that the final invasion of Iraq had everything to do with the petrodollar and Saddam threating to use Euros. not saying I support Russia's politics, human rights etc - but honestly, at the moment - for the "good of the world" I'd probably go with Russia over the USA - I see them as being the most destructive and toxic culture we have - mainly due to how easily it has spread and how widely adopted it is - pinned on Consumption and "what we don't have, but could have if we forgoe our culture". All those films in the 80's were part backed by US defense agencies, Topgun was pretty much a recruitment video (A shit one tho!) How Top Gun Impacted Navy Recruiting In Real Life | Screen Rant

Ok, this isn't UK politics so I think I'll dip back in I'm not so sure its as black and white as that - and having lived in countries that are allies of Russia and "being read the newspapers" - they have a lot of points that do show NATO (mainly US) aggression. The US in particular, have for nearly a decade , took the piss out of the New START by developing multiple launch missile systems that were branded "Defensive" , but , at the change or a warhead and software could very quickly become "aggressive weapons". Both sides have been doing it, I think the difference is that Russia has not been putting them within range of the US homeland, the same way the US has to Russia. Last time Russia did anything like that, the US reacted almost identically. Just trying to say, there's two sides to the coin, and honestly - looking at the USA vs Russia as to who is the potential warmonger, since WW2 - There's only 1 real answer there. link to the US version of the story I was read all those years ago . Missile Defense Issue Remains A Sticking Point in U.S.-Russia Arms-Reduction Pact | CNSNews Couple more links on the topic - but you can see why - when these "defensive missiles" are deployed on the edge, or beyond NATO - it's a bone of contention: Who, What, Why: What is a defensive weapon? - BBC News "We are all perfectly aware that the (US) missile defense system is defensive in name only", says Putin - Ground Report

Ah its nothing to do with any racism or anything. It's because his ego seems to have got the better of him after matches and imo during too.
-
It was more the way he wasn't with the pack - he walked around solo, quite a bit after the pack to milk it. I might be wrong, but it seemed all ego - I've just got it in my head now that he thinks he's better than everyone and that all the chants and praise were at him. He was definitely separate from the pack on purpose like, and its the second time at a home game he's done it. A lot of people don't see it, because they leave for the pub at the final whistle - but its become a thing recently for 10-15 minutes of "fan interaction".

Look, until he's putting Peter Beardsley Shimmies on the end of those runs, he can fuck off falling over for 3 minutes everytime he loses the ball . Oh and he can fuck off singing hey jude to the crowd on his own, like its all about him. "Crosses" being from the byline when you're about to fall over / run it out of play - aren't quite the same as a Trippier pinged pass. I like him by the way, I find his limping wounded donkey act funny and think he is one of our better players.
-
Just go steady - it's came out that he was diagnosed with dementia just 6 months after he left us. I'm starting to not see the funny side with him getting names wrong etc. Pisses me off that no one in the club mentioned it, when pretty much everyone he knew was worried about him.
-
Not joelinton now tho is it? I'd still prefer to see him put in some kind of cross, than try beat 5 from the corner flag with 3 players open.

That's going in my copybook of grudges.......

Lee Clarke. Do I win a prize?

I fear that he thinks that he is the finished article, though, old bean. whatwhatwhat ?
-
Yeah agree with you there - I wonder if you've hit the nail on the head and Bruce Balls told him "you are all we have up front, do it yourself, have confidence" and he's kind of still thinking that now - to be fair Joelinton and Almiron can't hit a cow on the arse with a chello.
