  1. Its just me isnt it? I dont think Elanga is ready (or he's suffering from Joselu syndrome - he looks a broken man at times to me) I dont think Gordon is better than playing Barnes and being able to put Murphy on the other side.
  2. I think when we win the CL that puts us straight back in next year?
  3. Brutal truth is that if the FFP rules don't change - we are absolutely forced into selling this calibre of player every time we develop one, until our business side starts bringing in the revenue. But I cant see him leaving Lewis Hall. Unless Citeh go for both he'll stay with his best bud.
  4. Can get fucked and deserves zero sympathy the shit ratbastard. <lock the thread, job done>
  5. Drop Joelinton and play Woltemade in the centre. For me, Joelinton can't play football anymore - he's just turned into a bruiser . I'd be happy to see Woltemade given a rest vs sunderland , if Wissa is fit- but I dont think Eddie will ; because it might affect Nick badly to be dropped for it. In summary. Play Joelinton for this last derby match hoping that he knacks himself and at least 2 sunderland players for a month. Then we can start properly blooding in Ramsey, Miley and Sean Neave. oh and 3-1 Sunderland because Ramsdale ain't all that either imo.

    Eddie Howe

Agree on this - Villa are our proper rivals imo - we started our projects at the same time and went for the same managers - I think we've done better than Villa on points and game performances tbh - but I do think they've done better on squad depth, we've got superstars they'd love to have - but they seem to have a much more resilient squad.
  7. This is the thing isn't it. Back in the day - you'd have to go and speak with the manager and him know your family - but you'd get a mortgage if you had a job and secured the house against it. It seems utterly illogical to me , that your current rent outgoings dont "prove" you can make mortgage repayments that are less than or equal to it. Again, overseas - but it seems better that you can either get a personal loan for the deposit with a guarantor - or we have some kind of mechanism for people who pay more in rent they'd pay in a mortgage to get one!
  8. I've a spare bedroom in my mini mansion you can have for 600 a month if you want? I wont let you shit in the bathroom though, there's a pub just up the top of the street you can use for that.
  9. I'm hoping they'll sneak a couple of restorations in , in each budget - they committed to making budgets annual - if that's the case (hopefully no war!) then they've got another 2 budgets left at least. I'd like to see some more done to try and combat all these multinationals who use shell companies in tax havens for profits and UK companies for losses - in my view this is why the Employers NI increase had to be made. Amazon can pretend that its shipping stuff from Amazon S.A.R.L to you at 10am the next morning when you order at 9pm the day before and put that sale through luxembourg - but they can't disguise the fact they are hiring UK employees due to the legal need for NI numbers etc . It is the only way to try get revenue out of the multinationals and get away from HMRC making "case based" deals with these companies. IF , just IF amazon, vodafone, 3, EE etc had to pay corporation tax at 20% on UK profits (with all sales being properly registered through a UK entity - and no overseas losses allowed through the UK entity) we'd make billions. We've taken this country to a point where I think people legitimately believe that any operating cost (be it genuine tax, a fine, or any regulatory cost) - should be passed onto customers. We need to get back to the shit we had in the 90's - it was still shit, but at least then companies used to think "if we pollute we get fined 4% but profit is 5% so we'll still make 1% profit by doing x" Now its "if we get fined 4% we've no choice but pass that cost onto the consumer" Thats what neoliberal politics, social media and the complete collapse of any Anti Monopoly rules has done. Christ, 3 years ago we had energy companies saying that costs had gone up so they had to increase energy prices by >10% and what did our governments do? They took money out of the public purse and gave it straight to the energy companies and private sector. I mean seriously, how do they get away with it? You either believe in market forces / neoliberalism, or you don't. It completely breaks the law of supply and demand. Those companies also went on to make record profits - same as most multinationals right now in the UK. And no.. other countries DONT do this and the companies DONT leave the market - ANY profit is viable. Canada wont allow the import of goods it cannot recycle into certain provinces. Prince Edward island doesnt take plastic bottles at all , coca cola didnt exit the market, they supply glass bottles. But like the Labour party of today. in my opinion it isnt a matter of strength it's a matter of media ownership, the Nudge Unit going private, Meta's rise , algorithm and fact checking removal - the media , the oligarchs , russia / china are laughing at how malleable we've been. (what im trying to say is that if they tried to enact any true policies so early in their term, then the screw would be turned so tight they couldn't win another, because the public opinion majority is now fairly easy to manipulate by the elite who don't want regulation, or seek to divide and conquer our international and domestic influence) I do think though, that internet and social media makes it look far worse than it is - the majority of people in my social circles are not greedy and want taxes to at least move half way back to where they were with Thatcher . Business owners used to want legacy and to leave legacy behind (Henry Ford even in America) - now its become trying to get into a position of "the sovereign individual" (cheers Lord Mogg you odious elitist) Edit .. lol what a rant.. all my opinion , but I like to think some of it is accurate at least. I lived with and had friends that are multi millionaires and they all find it stressful and want to be able to take back a bit of control. In most countries its illegal for a CEO of a PLC to do anything philantrophic with their companies - it has to come out of their own pocket because business profits "isn't their money , its the shareholders" . In the USA the only way you can do anything charitable legally, is if you can justify that it will in some way increase profits (e.g. its good advertising)
  10. It's a 6 bedroom 3 bathroom house getting sold to split into rentable flats I bet? but yeh, they could have tiered it for different areas . Everything else has a "in london" adjuster (such as public sector wages, teachers etc)
  11. In Monkseaton and Whitley bay? it's very well to do - I've just moved here and its got a very well to do feel with those mums and toddlers and all the "hobby shops". Why not try my old neck of the woods and do the same on Welbeck road? I feel bad about the boomers thing for people in that bracket who legitimately didn't support and vote for Thatcher and 10 years of Tories. I think the problem is (or in my own personal view, the problem is) that it's that generation that are on Social Media all the time talking politics and they always come out with stuff along the lines of: "Tories / Farage are the only people with balls to fix this country - share if you agree" "I'm not paying for people to have children and live in luxury" - share if you agree "Life was hard for us too, kids need to stop eating Avacado" etc etc. Whilst simultaneously forgetting all the enablers that helped , yes times were tough - but it's that generation that have voted in successive governments that enable excessive consumption and cuts cuts cuts. In the 70's we had: Jobs from school at 15 and you could stay with the same employer for life if you wanted (Unions , apprenticeships , Nationalised industries) Free education at all levels Free dentistry and healthcare Regulated banks (this was huge) Child benefit uncapped Social Housing Regulated rental industry (even the rent act 1965, 77) And the Tories call it the politics of envy that we are unhappy with the deregulation and reduction of taxes for the wealthy - since Thatcher The fact is that the generation before COULD survive and bring a family up on 1 persons wage - and these families were BIG 2 children minimum up to 6 or 7 in my parents generation. I know also though that the family didnt have xboxes etc, or even guaranteed meals in some cases. But it was a generation that shared and had community spirit because they had to share - now that that's taken away the generation appear to be arguing that they want the UK to be like the 70's - but without actually being willing to share or go through any hardship themselves. Look at the comments on BBC today about lifting the 2 child cap on UC - they make it sound like we are talking about the equivalent of a salaried wage being given away. It's a support network for the child. But when its something that affects the boomer generation .. wow. (admittedly though, its only them and workshy fops like me that are writing comments on bbc, other than bots and paid peeps) The reality is now, if you are in a working class or retail job it is not even possible to survive with both peoples wages and 2 children without loading debt . And who was it that bought right into consumerism and globalisation , only to blame kids now for being consumerist. We reduced all regulation on advertising, imports, destroyed unions, destroyed 100's of thousands of jobs in traditional industry areas for "cheap imports" - without giving any alternative path? A cause of areas like south hetton are down to stripping away the possibility of work for an entire generation, who already had children without any practical alternative - the tory alternative is to think that everyone has the same opportunity and "just move to work".
  12. Not for me they are not. I've voted Green many times .Their manifesto made a lot of sense in the last GE. They are a legitimate polital party - it's pretty wrong to say they are reform on the other side - reform are utter utter inept shits who are playing populist. That said , as much as people like to say that Labour are "just like the Tories" - they really aren't imo. They should be more left but they'd get destroyed in this climate because the neo-lib lobbyists own everything. They say they can get our budget into surplus by 2028 - if they do that , or even break even - I'm voting Labour. We really need rid of FPTP , but I think we have to wait for the new generation of voters - the oldies dont like change . Also, I think the budget was much better than expected , the mansion tax , 2 child cap rid of - they are things that conservatives would never do in a million years. And it shows that they are at least listening to some of their left wing members. An EV tax was coming - I've had one since coming back to the UK and haven't paid a penny in road tax for 8 years now - that's not helping the roads.

    Eddie Howe

The club is evolving in every element other than the one that I think everyone forgets. The boardroom is absolutely fucked - what Howe and this squad have achieved (cos its the whole team not the manager and coaching staff only) is incredible. I'm getting the rage over how entitled and angry some of the fuckers in my local pub were last night (Away to Marseille) . Shit this and that, and hammering the team cos we suffered a mistake in the second half against a Champions League away game. This game was always a bad omen in my mind too , I remember this was the first game I was at where the fans turned on Bobby and that was even less shocking than this - Eddie has won a trophy with our club in very extreme conditions given the fuckery above him. (Pardon Darren Earles, obvs - hope he does well) We need to be sustainable and play with the resources we have. Its not a game of FIFA and we aren't a club thats had 10 years of unfettered spending on world class players through 2 generations (man city are gen 2 now, as are liverpool etc). We absolutely have to learn to have gears - but this away form is baffling - especially given we seem to score in the first quarter of the game and go on to lose. <end rant> much love.
  14. sorry for multi-threads - yeah , hearing this a lot and I agree - but I've also thought No keepers are catching the ball anymore for quite a few years - not sure its a Pope thing. it does my head in, its all punching and its shit.
  15. As much as I want Ramsdale to do well - I do think that we tend to forget that he's a relegation specialist. Hoping im wrong, mind; but he looks a bit of a broken man to me.
  16. FWIW I think its harsh on Pope all of this. I watched on TV too so its hard to see how much space there was when pope left his box - the commentary on our whatsapp group from lads there was that he'd not been stranded when we lost the ball , but ran out from his box when he saw ab was going to break away (i'm not even going to try and spell it). Yes he made a mistake, but he's clearly been coached and told to play sweeper keeper and one on one with Ab , he made the decision to try close it down . Howe didnt play Dubs because dubs was almost glued to his line. If pope makes the right choice, and brings on a transition that results in a goal no one notices. No one gives any credit for the quick release throwing he has consistently done since he arrived etc. And at least this time he didnt handle it and get sent off like before the cup final
  17. Maybe you should. that would have had a massive effect on morale and pressure on the team.
  18. I wonder if he's the only player that Howe hasn't improved. When he played for Tuchel for England the other week he was brilliant - and was just as strong for us the following game - then ,, back to his disappointing self again. I'm biased tho, I've NEVER rated Gordon - any player who falls over and stays on his arse after getting the ball up the pitch and losing possession is not for me. It costs games and no one seems to highlight it.
  19. Can't go with this personally. We would have beaten Villa and arguably would have done better at Bournemouth too, that would have had a massive effect on morale and pressure on the team. He cost us 5 points at least at the start of the season.
  20. Watch us beat Citeh. Home and away is totally different. Talking about Bobby again, but that was the first hoodoo he broke - we NEVER used to win against teams down south (from my memory, might need fact checking - but I'm sure it was a thing and he got us doing it. >4 years ago, a win at home was hard to imagine at times.
  21. I remember something that many toon fans don't admit to and it shows that even 20+ years changes nowt. Fans calling Bobby shite because we were struggling like this after finishing fourth the year before, my mate at the time booing Robson , and calling for him out during the game, along with the majority who sat with us at the time. (Leazes end admittedly) BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Newcastle United | Newcastle force Robson out because he didnt win anything - Champions league, eufa cup semi final, finished fifth the year before and the same shit I'm hearing now. Tell me a club thats had a manager like this and changed them and had a positive outcome. Come in, in 4 years get: From relegation to champions league qualification in the same year 2 champions league campaigns, 2 cup finals and one we actually won. And people want him out. Isak fucked us, along with the directors and the board - it's been a revolving door above Eddie. know its not as simple as 1 thing to blame - but PFA, Fair play whatever, along with the rat bastard playing that game at the beginning of a new campaign. No, I dont even care if we got relegated - changing manager is not the answer in this case. Reading some of the stuff on the web is just flat out embarrassing, but that's the internet innit, not the fanbase really. Last thing on my rant. I HATE english fans calling players in the top tier of any sport "shite" or the team shite , its fuckin insulting to them and to all the people who play the sport in the leagues below - If you play in League 1 or above you are talented and gifted , if you play in the premier league you are the very best there is. (unless you are called Michael Owen, then your a greedy cnut).
  22. No one seems to be kicking off anywhere near enough about the treatment Woltemade is getting from players and the absolute lack of any kind of punishment from match officials. The Fulham game was just unacceptable, it has to be a foul when 2 players literally have a hold of the players clothes and shoulders. We had someone climbing Dan Burn too. It's just getting daft now , we've gone from allowing players to hold each other in the box on corners to full on double teaming and holding players. It may end up working in our favor in a few years , but it really feels to me at matches that the league is corrupt - it *might* be unconcious bias from officials, but it just feels that they are deciding the flow of the game. It's not for Woltemade to "learn the premier league" its an international game , its time for our officials to "learn how to officiate football to internationally accepted standards" No way in the world would this happen in the Champions League or a World Cup.
  23. Thanks I needed that! I was sounding out P4L4 Pala etc..
