  1. yep, agree completely on that one.
  2. Love this talk of a "good squad" when we're far worse than when Pardew got 5th. Sure lots of our players might look promising (I'm a big fan of Sissoko so far) but non of them are proven yet - even our "purples" such as Cabaye haven't really consistently produced anything. This squad is not good enough to avoid relegation, no way - all best intentions, but 2 injuries at the same time and we're fucked completely.
  3. We'd have heard of it if he got banned on drink driving though, I can't remember any reports on that and I've hated him for a looooong time.
  4. Ah but in which formation? 7-5,22.333333333 ? 4-4-4 or 4-3-3 ?
  5. Mental as it may be, I'm putting my faith in Adam Campbell , if he can just break through and be the next Rooney for us, we will avoid relegation. If, without significant signings we survive this, it will be a miracle. It beggars belief that anyone thinks we're going to sign anyone decent , given that we NEVER have re-invested, it's all just been small fractions of previous sales. I might have whinged all summer, but once it kicks off I'll go into stupidly optimistic mode again.
  6. *sob* but only 1 of those players is proven good (HBA) - I'd argue Gouffran isn't a winger so I'm not counting him. Sammy, Obertan, Marveaux, Sammy, Shane are all not good enough yet (if ever) Jonas is getting old and slow , but I still give credit for his workethic and teamwork.
  7. Hahahahahahahaaaa, ah man I nearly wee'd a bit. Seriously, wonder if you're nearer the mark than you think (heart problems / eyesight / what is it?)
  8. I'm still surprised that people expect anything different. I've been banging this drum for months. Ashley doesn't care for success, I'm not sure what his agenda is, but its not to win anything. I think he sees us as a vehicle for his own brand and a plaything , I seriously think he's following the same model as his superstores. Expect no one, or someone shit on the cheap at the last minute, or someone with great value, whos cheap - possibly carrying an injury that has seen other clubs lose interest - then sell them as soon as you get a >100% markup. Tell the fans you'll use the cash to replace, then buy someone for no more than 20% of the sale value and call it done. It's his model, he'll take his 200 mil back and hopefully not try and do it all again.
  9. Am I alone in thinking that Marveaux just isn't good enough? I drop him in the "worse than Obertan" bucket, because at least Obertan is willing to bust a gut when not in possession. Marv looks alright when hes in possession and can certainly pass the ball, but he just goes missing when not in possession.
  10. I think it should be Anita or Tiote , and Cabaye OR Sissoko , I don't see a need to play all three. I detest playing people in sub-optimal positions. Which AP seems to love. The more we play Sissoko up front, or wide, the more we risk ruining him - just as we ruined Tiote by trying to make him box to box.
  11. Indirect investment and people attack to defend Wonga . lol right, that's not just defending them because they are a toon sponsor is it?
  12. How is the squad depth better? The first team might be , but the squad depth isnt there at all is it? Christ we don't have a second player for some positions (I don't count Williamson as a viable option, but Perchy was) Whos going to play on the right / left wing if arfa is injured, cos sticking Sissoko in there insults everyone concerned. I've been a supporter of Pardew, but even I've had enough of seeing him waste sissoko all the bloody time. Every time we play him in that position I think we erode his instinct in his proper position. I think the same can be said of Cabaye too, he's not in the correct position. Play Sissoko or Tiote and Cabaye OR anita / brig ffs.
  13. Kudos to Meenzer, great post. hahahahaha
  14. nah, I don't want flame wars, I like it here and like the banter tbh. But there's defo a few here, just as much as a few miserable sods like me. As a side note, I'm not a mackam, but am emigrating to the caribbean soon, so this will be a great lifeline to the toon for me. I never forget me roots (and my retirement plan is to settle back in the toon with my season ticket).
  15. rofl, as if it isn't photoshopped. Reminds me of that brilliant issue of (the mag?) with the "Lets all laugh at sunderland" cover. Loved that, and still have my copy framed at home in my office.
  16. Really? I share a lot of that kids views to be honest - I do think there's a fine line between being a loyal supporter and being an evangelist that can only spin positives. I know I fit firmly in the negative twat category, but some others here definately fall into the blindfold option too. I might be following my trend on here of defending the indefensible, but I don't see a lot of mackam type slagging in here, just honest and pessimistic views.
  17. Where have you been "to dumb"? I've not seen a post from you since I joined recently, but every single one has been either magnificently cutting or raised a smile. Quality.
  18. Geordies can have to work in Sunderland you know. I did for a year back in 2001. Playing devils advocate, but I hope you're sure - new members don't grow on trees you know.
  19. Well, given the amount of people not happy for him to come, I think it's pretty nailed on that he will.
  20. Surprise surprise but misery moo here doesn't think we should buy the dick. He turned us down for money He got accused of Rape He isn't even all that good at QPR. It's coming to something if our best bet is trying to get remy on the cheap because he's facing charges and not made an impact.
