  1. it would be the best thing to happen to the english game in terms of improving atmosphere at grounds. can't see it ever happening though

Aye well the £70k came from one ITK that I dont know as he posts on a different forum but apparently has got a good track record as far as incoming transfers to Everton. This Sheedy guy says that Ba asked us to meet the Toons demands and would join if we did... I trust him. I'm not surprised no-one on here does as its not what you'd want to hear about a new signing... especially when there is such a low opinion of the club he apparently would rather have joined (allegedly) I could still see Ashley looking at a free transfer and £70k a week being better than £10m and £50k a week for an alternative player, just my opinion tho. He was on £50k at West Ham and it would be extremely rare for a player to leave on a free and move to another club for less money... would be surprised by that massively, especially if there's more than one team bidding for his signiture. Maybe the £70k a week is BS? Who knows... could be less, but even if it is i'd expect it to be somewhere in between 50-70k. Haha nah I think me and you should stick to the photography chat and leave football politics alone why would you everton ITK know about the waged we offer though? i'm not doubting he's well connected with all things everton. it's just common knowledge now because of things the club have said and the fact that senior pros aren't getting improved contracts that we don't offer those wages anymore. so in the case of ba, that's not why you lot lost out to him. sorry
  3. agreed - lovenkrands and ranger should go first. best did enough last season to earn another year as a back up striker. that's probably why we're touting him; because we might get a few quid for him. i woudn't be that arsed if he's sold though as long as he's replaced wisely.
  4. it's mainly yank tourists doing the beatles holiday that don't realise how much of a hole it is.
  5. The fact that you were rather we were relegated from the top flight whole spending league one wages instead of seeing us spend a bit of money and compete in the premiersip says it all about your aspirations. I can't believe anyone wouldn't want to see us invest more and compete for titles. A measure of success in this game is trophies and days out at wembley - not the misery of relegation. The bullshit you're spouting is so silly I'm convinced you don't really believe it. You're looking for a bite and I'm falling for it.
  6. What other clubs do is not my concern. Newcastle should pay their players less than half of turnover. I would be proud gof the club if it paid maximum 5,000 a week to an individual player - even if it meant getting relegated. Sounds like you should go and support scunthorpe if pride in watching players on that kind of money is so important to you nick, you freak of nature.
  7. Yeah, thank christ we've got Best - the obvious answer to our striker problem Your wummery skills are weak old man.
  8. Honour is on the pitch??? You mean honour is Wayne Rooney earning 150,000 a week, or John Terry??? Nonsense. Honour is doing your best for a sensible salary. Yes, Man U fans will remember with love Wayne Rooney - that superstar who gave his life to Manchester united (well, demanded 150,000 a week to do so) Nick you really are a tedious dolt aren't you
  9. sorry if some of these are on loan from Prem clubs or something, but this is my choice... Don Cowie (Watford) Albert Adomah (Bristol City) James Coppinger (Doncaster (and at this point I'd better mention that I know that he's already played for us, because of knuckle-dragging idiots who think that if you don't mention it, you can't know it and must be an idiot) Peter Wittingham (Cardiff City) Lewiss McGugan (Nottingham FOrest) Danny Graham (Watford) Shane Long (Reading) Luciano Becchio (Leeds) James Henry (Millwall) Chris Burke (Cardiff City) Jay Borthroyd (Cardiff) Max Gradel (Leeds) Billy Sharp (Doncaster) Andy King (Leicester) Steve Morrison (Millwall) hadaway and shite man. you're not serious are you? or are you?

mate, there's no way he's on 70k a week with us like. we've got a wage cap now. the days of us paying big money is over, sadly. did you not see what just happened with nolan? we're not in the business of splashing the cash anymore, despite the fact that we've the 35m liverpool paid us for carroll sat in the bank. no offence, but your itk clearly knows nowt about us. Keep believing it though if it makes you feel better about your lot missing out on him.
  11. smith will go down even further in my estimation if he sees his contract out sitting on the bench or in the reserves insread of going somewhere where he might get a game.
  12. fucking chaucer's canterbury tales put me off english lit for life
  13. We wanted him as well, but not for 5 years. Would you have given him 5 years on £50K a week ?? just askin i would have aye. he earned a deal to take him to the end of his days with us by arguably being one of our best players of the past two seasons, leading the team and playing a massive part in fostering the team spirit that has got us out of a massive hole. he's in his prime now. 29/30/31 are generally the best years for good pros. more evidence sadly that ashley isn't prepared to splash the going rate on wages, even when it comes to his senior and most important players.

£70k for Demba Ba. Or if thats not true and its less then what is it? £60k, £50k? for a guy who failed 2 seperate medicals in the last 3 years for the same problem? Yes silly money. no way is he on anywhere near £70k a week. we stopped paying those sort of wages years ago. thrift is the name of the game under fat mike, didn't you know? that's why all our senior pros are on the way out.

Why though? Because you support Newcastle United perhaps? Or do you think next season you'll finish above us, or the season after, or that we'll be relegated... or all of them? Why are the Toon a more attractive proposition if the same wages were put on the table? i think we're just a more glamorous club. we get way more coverage than you lot in the papers (not always good publicity admittedly), we seem to be on telly more than your lot. i'm not just saying that because i'm a fan. i reckon we've much bigger potential than you lot. we have the facilities, the stadium in place, the bigger fan base and with the right owner, i think we could go further. that's not to say that with a bit of investment you couldn't have that too - a rich owner could come in, build a new stadium and splash the cash on transfers and wages. but as things stand, i can see why a lot of players pick us over you. and it's not because we offer massive wages because we don't anymore. tbf fair to moyes, he's done a fantastic job with your lot with limited resources but he's done it by playing pretty horrible football. the last time everton were a truly exciting team was int he 80s. a side i grew up with and loved (i have family that are evertonians), but it's been pretty bleak for you lot since then. we've been up and down more since in that time but when we've been up, we've been much closer than any everton side has been since the great howard kendel side.

i agree that we're probably a bigger pull than everton to a lot of players despite them finishing above us in recent seasons (and that's nowt to do with wages because we don't pay big bucks anymore). but they're hardly a micky mouse club.

he looks a good player. you can't rely on this kid to be fit though looking at this history with injuries so we'd need to get at least one other striker in on top of him i reckon. he's not a direct replacement for nolan either so we're still down one influential midfielder.
  18. alreet rexhammer. in nolan, you're getting a player about to enter his prime years. a leader of men, who will inspire his teammates. he's a fox in the box, with a nice touch and a great finisher - he'll get you bucketloads of goals in the championship provided you're team is set up to play to his strengths. and in big sam, you have a manager that has worked with him before and should know how to do that. the football won't be pretty mind with him charge - we know that from experience. on the downside, nolan's engine aint the best. you need young legs around him that are going to make up for his lack of mobility and the fact that he doesn't cover much ground. some games can pass him by and he can appear a luxury player or a passenger - especially in s 442 alongside someone like guthrie or smith. but his goals and other attributes more than make up for it. a great signing for your lot i reckon. he could have done a job for a team like everton; instead he's dropped down a division. you must have offered him a good package.
  19. You do know you have to persuade the players to sign too, don't you? it's fantasy fucking football with this kid. he posts the same stuff every week but with just different names depending on who we're linked with. last week it was all gervinho and that french lad that just bombed us. at this stage, ashley looks to be taking another massive gamble. going on his record so far, ashley can't be trusted to adequately replace those key senior players if they do end up going.
  20. let's just say....if i flap my arms, will i fly to the moon?
  21. i don't see how it would it be a good move to get rid of three of our senior players and replace them with those three. two are totally unproven at this level, having never played in the premiership. a busy summer is fine as long as we don't lose key players. we need to improve the squad in terms of numbers as well as quality. we can't lose nolan, jonas, barton and enrique on top of carroll. even if they're all replaced, there's no guarantee it will be with better quality. plus when they get injured we'll still be relying on dross/kids. the only outgoings should players that should be nowhere near the side like perch, guthrie and lovenkrands. if we ship out our first choice players, another season of mid table medicority beckons.
