  1. Gloom's post has a lot of great advice. There's no stupid questions tbh mate in answer to your questions I agree completely that white rice +pasta taste better but trust me you'll get used to the whole wheat versions, the reason to avoid the white varieties is they provide a big spike in insulin levels and your body likes to store it as fat. If you want to still eat some make sure it's only in the meal after a workout as this is when your body is extremely sensitive to insulin and the spike can help your body grow. At 5-10 9 stone and a "i can everything and not get fat" type you sound like an ectomorph, basically look to what Gloom wrote you need to eat ALOT to grow. Look for a bloke called Dr John Beradi he's a top nutritionist and his stuff is pretty much gospel especially for ecto's, think of what Gloom wrote as 3 square meals with 3 snacks I'd shoot for 6-8 meals a day (depending on how long you're awake). The cottage cheese Gloom mentioned as your last meal is to get some casein protein down which your body takes a long time to break down which provides constant protein throughout the night. it's tough going at first and you're basically shoving the food down (eat quickly and your body wont feel full) but it will get better. Since you're an ecto I'd shoot for 3,000 - 3,500 calories a day to start with and as you put on weight increase your intake, its nigh on doubling your basal metabolic rate but it'll shock your body. Try and get a good 4-5 liters of water daily as well (again it seems alot but if you put down a big glass with each of the meals you'll not be much off). Don't worry if you're not able to get that level of food down daily just shoot to be eating every 2-3 hours and eventually your stomach will increase in size making it easier. Like Gloom's mentioned stick to compound lifts, since you're not into the gym that much I'd start out 3 times a week with a Push/Pull and Legs split (so basically back and chest one workout then legs next workout and alternate between the two), after 4-6 weeks you may feel more into going to the gym and start enjoying it if so then start to increase to maybe 4 days then eventually 5 days a week and work in more assistance lifts with the compound movements (i.e dumbell flyes and tricep pull downs) . Basically, everything said here is spot on.
  2. Yeah,I thought that beforehand. Funny that it doesn't always turn out the way you think. Seeing your son enter the world is something you'll never forget, and not because there's a bit of blood and gunk involved. It's an absolutely magic moment that left me overcome with emotion and I'm glad I didn't let my squeamishness stop me witnessing it. The only think that I found a bit gross was seeing the placenta. Now that is disgusting - like something out of a horror movie.
  3. He's a got a face you'd never tire of smacking
  4. God this is an old thread. Brings back some memories. Turns out I did go down the business end and I did cut the cord. I wasn't anywhere near as squeamish as I thought I would be. It was an unbelievably overwhelming experience and Mrs G was an absolute trooper - she did the whole thing without any drugs, a completely natural labour, gas and air aside. When the boy popped out I cried like a baby and the mrs held it together, whic is weird because I'm not usually one to shed tears and she will sob at a cheesy rom com.
  5. free weights all the way. you can put on some serious muscle mass by ding a very simple training plan. stick to compound lifts that work al the bug muscle groups like legs/back/chest - I'm talking deadlifts, squats, pullups, bench press, standing shoulder press, bent over rows, pull ups etc. high number of sets, low number of reps and lift as heavy weight as you can manage - 5 sets of 5 reps is a good place to start. don't worry if by set 4 or 5 you're only doing 3 or 4 reps. the key to building muscle mass is caining your muscle to fatigue. in terms of diet for bulking up protein is king. basically, every meal has to be loaded with protein - the building blocks of life. and plenty of snacks and protein post workout when i was bulking my diet on an average day would be breakfast - three eggs (poached or scrambled) with wholemal toast (two rounds) mid morning snack - yoghurt and banana lunch - large salad with a plenty of fresh veggies and a protein source - you could have tuna, chicken, eggs etc post workout snack - protein shake with banana and a yoghurt dinner - grilled vegetables, baked salmon, quinoa, or a baked potato mid evening snack - cottage cheese with pinapple, or yoghurt and mixed fruit top tip for bulking while keeping the fat down is no carbs after 5pm! loading up our calories and protein is one thing, but you don't want to be munching on pasta, bread or rice later in the day. if you're training loads and lackign energy levels then by all means chalk up bread and pasta, but try to keep it wholemeal when you can and eat it early on in the day so you have plenty of time to burn it off. peanut butter sandwiches before bed seem like a great idea at the time but are the last thing your body needs. hope that helps
  6. Up until I started taxi'ing and packed in smoking I was always around 11-7. That weight was maintained while eating crap and taking no exercise. I therefore would like to get back to that sort of weight and I do realise that Exercise will be needed. They weigh I feel about exercise is the way a fatty feels about eating a plain boring salad. It holds no interest or anything for me. I am sitting six feet away from a conservatory with an exercise bike and a treadmill in. They have remained dusty virtually since getting the If I could somehow find a way into exercise that suited me, my commitments and my lifestyle, then I would be laughing. 20 mins Hiit on the bike or treadmill a day would make a massive difference, especially combined with your new diet. Just trade the bath and grolsch for a post training shower and protein shake. Nah, jokes aside, you've got to really want it or we'll just end up having the same chat this time next year again. It's like giving up smoking - its that hard. The only difference being you're trying to get into a good habit instead of giving up a bad one.
  7. you're either starving yourself or burning some serious calories to drop that much weight in a couple of weeks. ultimately though, as i always say, weight is just a number. means fuck all if you're body composition is shite. who wants to lose weight while retaining love handles and man boobs? Neither Dr. When you've been eating shit and you suddenly stop, a fair old amount is going to drop off without too much fight. Last night I had a sensible portion of home made cottage pie, with lashings of Turnip, Broccoli and Cabbage. I do appreciate there will come a point when simply eating well wont work on its own. And anyone in their mid forties who is worried about love handles and moobs, needs to have a word with themselves. Well that's commendable. Cutting out the junk and eating clean is a big milestone. The other point I was making stands though. Why do we try to lose weight in the main? Either to improve health or to improve the way we look by losing body fat. If your goals are the latter then stop obsessing with your weight - its just a number - and pay more attention to the way the body looks. It easy to lose weight while maintaining a poor body composition in terms of body fat. Call it skinny fat if you like. Far better to lose weight while maintaining or building muscle mass. The end product will be far more pleasing. It's not easy to do but if your goals are to improve the way your body looks then it is a better option than just crash dieting every January. If your goals are just being healthier and you're really not bothered about the way you look that's another matter. That said, it sounds like you're on the right track. A sensible clean diet is definitely the way forward. Just don't starve yourself!
  8. Absolutely! Got to be taking it seriously this year. We're safe in the top half of the league without genuinely challenging the top 4. Let's go all out for the cup for once! Best 11 to start each game in the competition please Padew. It's our best chance in years.
  9. Here's a thought: why don't the mods create a new forum within toontastic entitled "the great Leazesmag debate". Then anyone that wants to do battle with him can do so without cluttering up every thread with the same old nonsense, Leazesmag will have a designated area where can harp on about finishing in the top 3 and having the 14th biggest revenues in football or whatever as much as he likes without irritating the rest of the board and hopefully the main board can get back to threads that don't always end up with an argument about whether Shepherd is a better chairman than Ashley. Honestly, it's killing this place. Something's got to be done. Just a suggestion like.
  10. just been spinning. kettlebells yesterday, boxing tomorrow. getting back into a nice training routine and feel so much better for it.

  12. So Jonas, one of most hard working players, is dropped for Marvaux and BA is played on the left of a front 3, is that right? Found it a bit strange meself. Thought Marveux was a winger? Anyway until we shift Santon to the right and get a proper left-back I don't see how you can leave Jonas out. A post worthy of Deano that one like
  13. agree with alex about him being one dimensional but still a decent player. i wonder now we've got this cisse lad, would anyone take him back? i would, but there'd be no guarantee he'd start all the time with those other two up front and ben arfa pushing for a forward role too. he'd still be a good option to have if you want to mix it up and go dazzler direct. better than the likes of shola and best too, shirley. still, never been a £35m player. could an old fashioned target man ever be worth that amount? for that cash you'd want a silva or a aguerro.
  14. Aye. Would be class if his second coming there had the same impact as when he was with us - a midtable finish and a no show in a cup final.
  15. I wonder how shit they've got to get before the fans turn on him.
  16. Fucking hilarious that 35m was pledged on the back of half a season. I still think Carroll will come good, just not at Liverpool as long a they don't get crosses in the box. He's quite a simple style of player to utilise - get some balls into the box for him to attack. Don't expect him be working the channels or getting in behind - he's just not that sort of player. Can see him still making an impact at another club or under another manager at Liverpool. I think they'll cut their losses with him though. He's never been anywhere near a 35m player.
  17. we were too late to get into the 8 bells. was one in one out by the time we got there so we had to have a couple of £4.20 pints of carling in the ground instead.
  18. it was a pretty obvious stamp. it's not like he can even use the 'his head was where i needed to stand excuse'. his foot has gone actively looking for it. parker's a lucky boy that he wasn't badly hurt. balotelli should expect a three game ban.
  19. I'll not be voting for the current lot, that's for sure.
  20. 50 points would be a disaster imo. We've got 33 points nuw man. So what you're saying is if we average just under a point a game for the next 18 games we're doing well?? FFS W4 D5 L9 would get us 50 points man. Have a word with yourselves. The hardest games of the season have gone away in Manchester and Liverpool where we're always pish. If we don't get 60 I'll be disappointed. W9 D3 L6 would give us 60 man, and that wouldn't even be that good in my view. Home games alone QPR Villa Wolves Sunderland Norwich Liverpool Bolton Man City Stoke If there's not 7 wins from them games alone something is wrong. If someone had had offered us 50 points at the start of the season, you'd snap it up. We spent next to fuck all and sold a bunch of first team players Over 50 points is a massive achievement because no one fancied it at the start of the season, well except maybe CT an Deano. Obviously from the position we're in now, you'd like us to chalk up a few more, which what I said in the post you quoted. I reckon we could end up in the high 50s or low 60s, which would be our best return for years. Don't know about 7 home wins though. Thats a bit optimistic I reckon. Bound to be a few draws in the mix as well as defeats.
  21. Fucking annoying game to watch. Haven't seen us roll over like that for a while. Proverbial game of two halves like. Never saw it coming at half time. It was panic on the streets of London after their first went in.
  22. Horrible performance yesterday. That was the worst side of Shola. Annoying that we see no show performances like that from him all too often. Best wasn't much bette like. I put a much blame on the two big lads up front for the defeat yesterday as on the defence. They just couldn't make it stick second half
