  1. last night's result has been coming like. we need practically a whole new back four. i'd be looking at two new full backs and a top draw experienced centre half. a new left back has to be the priority. that said, we could also do with a new striker. can't be relying on le sib to lead the line next season.
  2. i used to like newcastle-online when it was a merger of the two boards, but you have to admit that the quality of the craic is far better over here. the only criticism is how slow it can be at times
  3. i thought he was a right back. never seen much of him at left back or centre back but it's hard to imagine he'll be worse in those positions than the likes of bramble and babbayaro. it also could (hopefully) mean carr is on the way out.
  4. in defence of the fat one, this statement isn't quite as moronic as usual. in fact, the only time he sounds a complete tit is when he compares huntingdon, ramamge et al to the likes of giggs and beckham.
  5. it's not like our academy is producing players of the same quality as giggs, scholes, beckham and neville. a couple of promising defenders is all it is at present - which isn't a bad thing when you look at some of the money that we've spent on flop defenders in the past (marcelion, boumsong etc). but i'm not getting that excited about it. i can't remember when our last youth player that came through the nufc ranks (that we were able to hang on to) that can compare to the man u youngsters of the early 90s. you probably have back to the 80s with the likes of gazza, beardsley and waddle.
  6. shame; he would have been a good replacement for carr, and can do a job in midfield too. that said, i think nobby's form has proven that we don't need a new right back as much as we need a new left back. i don't mind carr as a reserve full back.
  7. quite. if everyone was fit, he wouldn't make the starting eleven.
  8. still think we should have bought a defender with the money ? i still we think we should have bought defenders, yes.
  9. hopefully oba will be among the goals again. get his confidence buzzing after sunday and go on another run
  10. he has to go, but who's going to pay his wages?

he's small and he's round and he's worth a million pound, micky quinn
  12. if he bags between 15-20 premiership goals, he'll go a long way towards justifying the big transfer fee - especially if his goals help us qualify for europe
  13. nobby and taylor should keep carr and bramble out of the side. we desperately need a new left back because baba will go straight back into the side simply because our only other options are kids playing out of position.
  14. too perpetual? word of the day toilet paper?
  15. a fully fit newcastle front six with ronaldo doesn't look too bad on paper -------------------given solano----taylor--------moore---------???? dyer-----parker/butt------emre------duff/n'zogbia ----------ronaldo---------owen/martins
  16. has got paddy kluivert written all over it but i'd take him on a 6 month loan deal and see how he goes.
  17. Afraid we're all too happy to settle for it, marra. That doesnt surprise me like, but what does is the fact the club are still justifying it by using the lines his 'best is yet to come'/'potential' etc etc etc. Jesus wept. he's had enough chances and he's proven again and again that he's not good enough. he's not a kid anymore. shocking news. we should have slung him back to ipswich
  18. fuck off! we will never achieve anything while that numpty is a first choice centre back. get rid, don't be offering him a new contract ffs!
  19. seen shearer, given, bramble and speed down the diamond in ponteland regularly and down the chinese in darras hall - the footballers are always in there on a saturday night
  20. the problem with martins for me is his movement. with all that pace, he could create far more chances for himself if he timed his runs better. he always seems to be on his heels when the ball is played through, rather than gambling by trying to anticipate where the pass will go. how often do you see him attacking the near post when a cross comes in? but you can't question his workrate and as long as he keeps scoring 20 yard screamers, i think we'll let him off.
  21. Given 10 - my man of the match. martins gets the plaudits but we would have been 4 or 5 down by half time if it wasn't for super shay Nobby 7 - has to keep carr out of the side. best right back we've had in years. Taylor 5 - struggled to cope with defoe and berbatov Ramage 4 - shicking distribution from the back and doesn't close men down in the box quick enough. you would see john terry standing off berbatov for his goal like ramamge did Huntingdon 7 - assured performance from the youngster. coped well with lennon. can't remember him getting skinned too many times. made one well timed challenge and one juicy foul Milner 5 - same old story. good approach work; poor final ball. Butt 7 - Great job as midfield anchor Pattison 4 - I didn't notice him all game apart from his wasted header chance. easy to forget he was playing. Dyer 6 - Came in to the game in the second half but is more of a threat out wide or as a striker, than in centre mid where it can be too congested for him to pin his ears back Le Sib 7 - another solid performance from a player none of us wanted at the club. the only man on our books that can play with his back to goal Martins 7 - poor movement again from someone with such electric pace. but who cares when he can turn a game by firing in a 30 yard rocket and setting up the winner with a cute through ball
