  1. It’s more about the occasion and the atmosphere tbh. A bit like watching a comedian at a stadium or arena. And the general lawlessness. I had a good night out but tended to watch the the action on the big screen
  2. he walked straight into the punch that ended it with his guard completely down like an amateur
  3. His lack of a guard throughout the fight against a knock out specialist was just bizarre. I don’t know if he underestimated his opponent but AJ’s not known for having the greatest chin, you’d think he’s have been more cautious.
  4. Just back from the fight. Disappointing that so many in the crowd were jeering Dubois. Two English blokes going against each other and he was the underdog. He soon shut everyone up. After he clipped AJ in round one it was one-way traffic. AJ has had a great career but he’s finished at this level. Shame they couldn’t make AJ v Fury when they were both in their prime but that’s boxing. I guess we’ll never know now. Unless both fancy a final pay day when over the hill, which would be typical. i enjoyed Liam Gallagher’s pre-fight set. Feel less disappointed now about missing out on the oasis reunion tickets because he sounded bloody awful but it was a nice slice of 90s nostalgia
  5. About £130. We’re up in the stands too
  6. Going to Wembley for the AJ Dubois fight later. I’m braced for £10 pints after buying my first £9 pint at the 02 a few months back. Cunts
  7. Mid 40s, which I think make me one of the younger posters on here
  8. i seem to remember there being an area that was carpeted? always a good look for a nightclub. really soaks up the smell of spilt beer too 👍
  9. when i were a lad, our dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt - if we were lucky
  10. I dunno, when someone is returning from injury they’ll rarely pay 90 minutes off the bat. Usually it starts with a substitute appearance or two, then a start when they’re subbed off before doing a full 90. I guess Eddie knows if he’s ready to start, or not, but he looks like he’s close. His 45 last week was more impressive than big Joe’s.
  11. I’d rather start with the best/form players. That would suggest Tonali and Willock start. Joelinton’s form has been a concern, opening game aside, but Howe doesn’t like to make too many changes. I imagine Tonali is in with a better shout or a start than Willock at this stage but there’s a case for both of them
  12. give him 50-60 minutes, see how he gets on from the start then sub him if needed. He’s looked sharp and is great at great at getting us up the pitch
  13. Willock must be knocking on the door for a start. He’s looked good
  14. I went to a sloth sanctuary when I visited Costa Rica. Always thought that would make a good name for a metal band
  15. he's lack of minutes may also be because we've often been in tight games and he's wanted to keep isak's goal threat on the pitch. perhaps we'd have seen more of him if we'd been coasting in the odd game, with a two or three goal cushion with 20 minutes to go. i don't think howe has a choice now. we're going to need him the next few games if isak is out
  16. i'd play him at fulham and wimbledon if isak is out. at least he'd give us a presence up front. osula looks quick and strong at least. gordon is mint but he's not a CF. osula's lack of minutes suggests howe doesn't think he's ready for the PL yet. we needed a third choice development striker but it increasingly looks like we also needed a second choice CF because we can't rely on wilson and isak is prone to the odd injury too
  17. Good job we signed a reserve striker that Eddie really trusts
  18. they did a belting snakebite and black. very much the drink of choice in my gig-going teenage years between 94-97
  19. Netanyahu and his coalition of far-right nutters and ultra orthodox loonies on one side, and Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran on the other, are all cut from the same cloth. Neither side (at least those who are in power, or pulling the strings currently) are interested in peace or concession. In fact, they need conflict to remain in power. Meanwhile it’s the innocent moderates in the middle who suffer
  20. (i fully support a two-state solutuon, i should say. i just don't know how it happens in our lifetimes. it would take both sides around the table, say "enough is enough" and make big concessions. we're nowhere near)
  21. it's hard to see how it ever happens. There is too much hatred and so little trust built up over decades of conflict. The Oslo accords seem a long, long time ago. Israeli nationalists and dickheads in the settlements believe Gaza and the West Bank is theirs. Hamas wants to wipe Israel off the map and replace it with a new state of Palestine, from the river to the sea as the chant goes. Moderates on both sides who believe in a two state solution and peace are scared about the military threat from the other. FWIW, Israel bulldozed its settlements in Gaza when it withdrew, it could do the same in the West Bank if there was ever the political will (seems a million miles away from where we are today). It's worth noting that Hamas were elected shortly after Israel withdrew - something the far-right nutters would point to if things ever got that far. Any future Israeli pm who went down that path would probably meet the same fate as Rabin
  22. it's hard for me to switch off because my family are in the middle of it. for what it's worth, popular opinion in israel seems to have turned massively against netanyahu. there have been regular protests on the streets about him, particularly after so many of the hostages were returned dead. he will end up behind bars when this is done, and rightly so for the atrocities he has overseen, which is why it's in his interests to prolong the conflict as long as possible. conversely, and perversely, his likud party are climbing in the polls again. fucking hopeless.
