  1. Well the wife of this Nixon blokey looks rough as a badgers! They're playing at the Lakeside and it's all beer, tabs and heckling. Class Reminds me of going to watch my dad play when I was a kid. Actually, it reminds me of going to watch my dad play in the Cherry Tree last week...
  2. Dunno if anyone is watching this, or even in the slightest bit bothered, but it's semi-final day and in the second semi at about 4.30 Phil Nixon is playing. He's 50-odd years old, from Durham and has never qualified for the tournament before but has managed to make his way this far. He's playing a 17 year-old Dutch bloke so it might be interesting! Go on, tell me yous don't give a shit
  3. Despite going all Nigella today, I never make shepherd's pie so I don't have any top tips for you
  4. La strada? You mean Antonio then? Good lad, from the south of Italy so he is sound (its the opposite way round round over there) The new one in town? I was talking to him before we left and he was lovely. There was me and 11 of the lads off here so I must have looked like the sensible one The one on old eldon square aye. My mate is the manager. She sorted us out a table last minute on NYE. Lush food there for a chain restaurant. Aye, it even got Renton's seal of approval I'll definitely be going back like. Surley Renton cant have known it was a chain then? Hes far too snobby for chains. I've still got a voucher for a free bottle of wine there, which is nice. Aye, me too. Well I've got 2 actually - I nicked Steve's cos he doesn't drink

  7. I think it must be nearly time to go back to Strada actually. We had a canny night there and the food was lush. I also got kisses on the way out from at least 2 of the waiters so it's all good..
  8. Jesus man! Life's too short to quibble about things like this!
  9. FREAK! I tend to agree. Got to be the best dessert ever Cheesecake is hit and miss as a dessert. If its too dry then it needs lashings of cream. Tesco's cheesecake base is a case in point, has this strange consistency. Its all about the base. I'd like to try the ginger snap style. Tupperware box to the usual address please. I should put a price on it! I'm making spaghetti bolognaise for tea aswell. None of your jar sauces either mind - it'll be tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, garlic, lean mince and herbs. Anyone want any of that an'all? I also like to add red pesto, some red wine and controversially, a bit of sugar. What type of pasta? Tagliatelle tonight. Penne tbh. I have to wear a bib if i eat long pasta. Scruff Penne just rolls all over the place. Use a fork and a spoon like normal people Oh and you can also use a couple of Oxo cubes in the sauce if you want to make it a bit richer - it's canny. That's the only decent piece of advice I ever got from my ex mother-in-law...

  13. Nope, although I did live in a nurses home for 3 years a long time ago. It was an absolute scream. Speaking of cooking, we decided to cook Christmas dinner for us all one year before we left Manchester to go home. I think we were still scraping potato off the walls and finding sprouts under the sofa the follwing July.
  14. So is that the base or is the cheesy bit ginger and choc chip? Made the base with ginger snaps instead of digestives, and folded chocolate chips into the normal topping. Yum.. Now that sounds good. More birds should do chick stuff like cooking. I don't know what's wrong with me. I was hand-washing the cashmere jumper at 6.30 this morning. Have I woken up in the 1950's? I'll be making broth next Don't forget to blow the milkman when he calls... I don't have a milkman KCG - I haven't made broth for ages, but yeah I make it by boiling a ham shank (no wanking jokes please) til it's falling to bits then using the stock as the base for the broth with loads of veggies. If I could be arsed to go to Tesco I'd give it a bash but I can't The wife wont even let me make it like that. can I come to your's for tea when I come home next? Aye. I'll even give you some to take home in a Tupperware dish
