  1. They were shaky already, so unless Endo gives a masterclass in how to protect a back four, things are looking even better for us in terms of our attack.
  2. Would it free up a bit of money in wages etc for that competition for Schar's position? Probably not enough, so I couldn't see Howe sanctioning this unless it meant we were replacing him.
  3. I was way ahead of Charlie Adam 😂 They're copying me if anything. They must have staff trawling my comments to get ideas for stories 😉
  4. If the Saudi clubs are interested in buying Salah, and it seems they are giving all the reports, it does seem a bit of a coincidence that there are newspaper articles everywhere in the week we play Liverpool. And to be clear I'm not saying that they'd only make an offer to wind them up, as again I do think they hold a genuine interest in buying him. I suppose it could also be the case of the British papers trying to create clickbait in the run up to the game given reported Saudi interest in Salah predates this week.
  5. What are the chances that PIF are intentionally trying to psyche out Salah and Liverpool in the run up to the game, by making an offer for him this week. If the rumours are true of course. I fully support those kind of wind up tactics if the aforementioned is the case.
  6. If you want to win against Citeh you can't have any weak links in your team, and you need to take every half decent chance you get, or at least hit the target from every half decent bit space you get. Burn and Almiron are our weak points. We have Hall to take over from Burn eventually, but the next big purchase needs to be a top class replacement for Almiron.
  7. Botman ran Foden a close second for man of the match. He largely kept Haaland in his pocket. It's crazy to think he's this good at his age.
  8. Turns out Citeh are still quite good even with injuries to several key players. Their ability to keep hold of the ball is absurd. The positives are that it's only 1-0, and we have a strong bench for late in the game, where you'd hope they will tire after their midweek adventures, and without the usual luxury of a bench worth 200m+
  9. Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol, Rodri, Kovacic, Foden, Alvarez, Haaland, Grealish Subs: Ortega, Phillips, Ake, Gomez, Perrone, Bobb, Palmer, Lewis McAtee Still a very strong first 11, but their bench is noticeably weaker than normal.
  10. Obviously this is just a guess in terms of what the Adidas money will be, but imagine going from 12m a year to 50-65m a year. I'm not even bothered at the minute about us being able to afford elite wages, but if we keep this up we'll be in that bracket pretty soon. I say not bothered, but obviously if the young players we've bought develop in the way we hope, and we consistently achieve success, such as top 4/5 etc, they'll most likely be looking for pay rises soon enough. We just have to hope our commercial end and the rest who run the club get their figures right, and we don't turn into Leicester in terms of an unmanageable wage bill.
  11. Someone on twitter was saying that Spurs get 30m per year, and Citeh get 65m, so I think something between 35 and 45m pr would be more than fair. If we qualify for the CL again this year we can push for the higher end of that no problem. Well I say that, but obviously common sense and the way they calculate "fair market value" could be two very different things. Fair market value is largely just a euphemism for what money you're allowed if you are or aren't one of the "legacy/top six" clubs.
  12. In terms of quality they won't be worse, and more importantly we'll get massive increase in money from them compared to Castore. I'd also imagine you get the shirt design you deserve, as in if you don't collaborate and just leave it to them they won't pull any trees up for you. The people that run the club, if true to form, will be all over every detail given how keen they are to build the brand, and increase the revenue, of the club.
  13. Don't know if it's been posted on another thread, but supposedly on one of the episodes it's revealed that Adidas will be making our shirts from next season on. Great fucking news if true.
  14. Fuck. Hopefully Bruno hasn't followed his mates suit. With betting it has to be the thrill or is a full on addiction for these lads. I can't imagine getting paid tens of thousands per week and then feeling the need to put bets on. Although it's quite counter intuitive as well, I think it's far more understandable that someone who's skint or close to it wants take a chance on making some money. As for the Greenwood situation, what makes it even more disturbing is that it's not even a case of them spunking 60-100m on a player and not wanting to lose that value. Don't get me wrong, the only morally right move would be to move a player on even if he did cost that, but the point is that Man U have an academy player that want to keep, and it's likely partly down to them not wanting to pay money for a new forward.
  15. Bernardo Silva is going to miss the game along with Stones, as already mentioned, according to Pep. Apart from Haaland being injured as well, there's not going to be a better time to play them this season, especially given our own start to the season.
  16. They're supposedly after Cheick Doucoure off Palace, so obviously he is a more defensive minded player than perhaps Endo, who's more a defence minded 8 as some have suggested.
  17. And? Plenty of players come in and do we'll straight away, Tonali being a prime example, albeit it's only one game, or at least don't take that long to settle. It doesn't always take a long time for players to acclimatise. Whether he'll be one of the players that don't need a lot of time to settle, only time will tell.
  18. I'm not making a direct comparison or saying he'll have even half the influence, but Trippier shows what a quality addition with experience can do for a team. Him being 30 could be an advantage as I've said given how much experience and leadership they sold this summer. But we'll see. I've stuck my neck out now, and only time will tell if I'm right or wrong.
  19. I reckon this Japanese player Endo might surprise a few people. He's getting unfairly derided on twitter by way of comparison to who they were after, but he might end up some very smart business. They needed some experience and leadership in their team after Milner, Henderson etc left, and he gives them that. I'd still be very wary of Liverpool. Their attack is still unquestionably scary, and if the sex register signer can bed in Endo, and perhaps Doucoure, into their midfield they could add some solidity through the middle, and not be so easily played through.
  20. Just thinking about it and we've only spent 130m when you take into account that Hall is loan to buy. When you look at the quality and longevity we've bought given their ages, it pisses all over pretty much every other clubs window. And we've made roughly 40m on the ASM and Wood sales. So it's 90m net.
  21. I still reckon we'll move if something interesting in the loan market appears, or we manage to get rid of most of the dead wood. We still have two full weeks until it closes. Either way it will be nice to be relaxed given how well Ashworth and Eddie have done. Who's had a better window? Chelsea have spent more, but do they have a clear plan. Everything Ashworth and Eddie do seems to be planned for the present and well into the future.
