Leeds slap £35m price tag on Jack Harrison amid interest from Newcastle | Daily Mail Online If this is accurate then my assumption about his price was correct, and I still think that's too expensive for what he is.
-
If that's his security it would be amusing if Pearson tries to get overfamiliar with Bruno at some point in the future.
-
Yeah they'll want at least some money for him, but perhaps he's nervous about moving just before the World Cup and not getting in the Spain squad. Then again if he's not getting regular game time for Madrid he likely won't anyway.
-
The Knight Rider has said that he asked the club about Asensio and it hasn't been ruled out as of yet. I was under the impression that Asensio was staying at Madrid, but perhaps not.

Doesn't Kinnear literally have Alzheimer's now? 😬

Arsenal are supposedly ready to allow Pepe to be sold for a third of what they paid for him, with a bid of between 20 to 25m enough to get him. Leeds are reportedly interested in making a bid. I'm not sure what went wrong for Pepe, but he's definitely a very talented player on his day, and his record in France before he got his move was insane. I wouldn't doubt Howe if he thought he could get him back to something approaching that form. At the price stated it's probably well worth the risk. The only thing you have to question is if it's an attitude issue, can something like that really be solved. In an ideal world he would come, find form, and cement that right wing spot for himself. He's almost exactly the profile of player we're looking for i.e. goal scoring right winger. He's just a bit older than Howe and co would like with him have just turned 27.

He's arguably rawer than even Ekitike if you look at his age, stats, starts etc. 19 year old kid although he turns 20 at the end of the month, 36 apps for Bordeaux, but only 9 of those were starts, 7 goals, 4 assists. It's out of left field to say the least, but if Atletico are after him as well he's probably decent, they have top class scouts. Who knows how legit this French twatter bloke is, but if we are actually after him, we clearly aren't afraid of potentially having to be patient for a kid like this to mature. Then again Ashworth literally wanted to buy Nunez before he went to Benfica, so he knows more than me 🧐

Newcastle United: Club Sold To PCP - Official
Polarboy replied to The Mighty Hog's topic in Newcastle Forum
This guy is an award winner, he has been named the MLS Executive of the Year on two occasions. He was also named World Football Summit Executive of the Year in 2019. Eales said: “Newcastle United is both a giant of a club, and the heartbeat of its community. Every time I have visited St James’ Park, I’ve been overwhelmed by the passion of the fans. “This is a club with an amazingly rich heritage, and I am delighted to be joining for this new chapter in its long history. “I am grateful for the opportunity, and look forward to working with the rest of the team to help this storied club fulfil its potential.” The club’s investment group, comprising PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, said: “We are delighted to announce Darren Eales as the club’s new CEO. He is an exceptional leader and is a great fit for Newcastle United. “We have conducted an exhaustive recruitment process to ensure we identified and secured the right individual for the CEO position, and we are confident we have found that person in Darren. “He has a deep understanding of the football industry and what it takes to achieve growth and success, and he will be a key member of the club’s leadership team as we look to deliver on the club’s potential on and off the pitch.” Ashworth and Eales, intelligent people who have an excellent understanding of the football world and the contacts to match. Slight bit of a step up from Penfold and Kinnear. -
Might just have to include Bruno in my FF team if he's going to consistently make those surging runs into the opposition box. It seems like he's playing in a substantially different role for us than at his previous club where he was more of a deep lying playmaker.

I suppose you don't get early preseason commentary duty because you're at the top of your game.

The commentator is fucking shite. I wasn't paying attention for a second and he said Joelinton had gotten a second yellow. I thougt he was off, but the melt just meant second yellow of the game after Lascelles'. Tasty enough challenge from Big Joe, but not all that much intent I'd imagine.
-
Decent strike from Longstaff. He could save us a lot of money if he could recapture the form he had under Benitez, but there does seem to be some question marks over his mobility at the prem level.

Nice disguised pass from Shelvey there.

Is Gemmill from Sunderland?

Hopefully a lot less is the 15m that was being floated about the other day for Zapata, if the story is accurate. If we sign him it blows the we're only after someone who can play out wide as well as up front, and is under 26 out of the water. But perhaps it's got to the point where we've had to change tactics after missing out on first, second, third choice even, of that profile of player. Obviously it's not my money, but I'd share the reluctance to spend so much on Wood and now this guy, when they're both north of thirty. The question is how many years at the top level does this guy have. If we could get two good seasons out of him at 15m or there abouts it would be well worth it.
-
As I was saying the other day Paqueta has filled in at CF on a number of occasions. It's fair to say that attacking midfield is definitely where he appears most comfortable, but if it's the case of either getting him now or missing out, it might be something to consider if we can't get the quality we're after with the right profile, in terms of a player who's almost equally as comfortable playing wide as they are at CF.
-
Haaland had a clause in his contract that he could leave for the amount that Citeh paid for him iirc. I think the clause was once he hit a certain age his transfer fee had a specific limit.
-
Chris Waugh was recently saying that we're looking for someone who can play out wide and at CF in regard to Wilson's understudy. Scamacca is a pure number 9, so we're likely not even in for him. It makes senese given we're not likely to spend 40 odd million on an understudy for Wilson who can only come on to replace him, and as such mightn't get as much game time as they'd like. The profile of player we've been looking at, i.e. Ekitike, can play multiple positions across the front line.
-
Emmanuel Dennis off Watford would be a better shout in my opinion. He's available for around the same price, and I think has a bit more potential in terms of how prolific he could become. Cornet has played on the right of midfield but I think he's more comfortable on the left. I watched Dennis play wide right for a game or two for Watford, when he wasn't playing CF, and he looked very dangerous. Also as I was saying a week or so ago, the news about Sarr moving seems to have died down, but he has plenty of potential as well. I'd be pretty happy with a double deal for Dennis and Sarr off Watford if our first choice moves really are dead in the water.
-
I'm surprised Chelsea aren't in for Scamacca. He does seem to be very highly rated. Bit of a come down for him from PSG to the 'ammers.

Looking at prices these days a wide player who had 16 goal involvements season before last, is English, and is young, 30m is probably what you're going to spend everything being equal. Last season where he got 8 goals and 1 assist will be seen as a write off given how poor Leeds were in general. But again given Leeds don't really need to sell they'll likely ask over the odds for him. Apart from all that, as a player he's predominantly plays on the left wing, and obviously we need someone who will make that right wing their own.
