  1. Only Grealish, De Bruyne, Dias and Mahrez cost them over 60m.
  2. The clubs who add on money at the end are likely hoping the other club are so far along with negotiating with the player, perhaps other targets have moved, generally put a lot of work in etc, that they hope the club will just fold and say fuck it to get the deal done.
  3. The big update from the Telegraph was that we're willing to walk away from the Botman deal because Lille have stuck 6m on top of the 30m we had already agreed to pay, at the last minute. So it could come down to who blinks first if that's the case. And the report also states that the Ekitike deal is progressing well.
  4. Chicken little is apparently going to have an update on Botman and Ekitike shortly. We've also been linked to Merih Demiral the Juve defender. He's right footed so he would likely be in addition to Botman. Apparently he could be available on an initial loan deal, so it would suit us obviously given we're seemingly desperate to spread costs in order to sign as many quality players as possible this window. Eddie Howe offered chance to sign Serie A giant on NUFC’s radar after €20m move stalls - Report | NUFC blog – Newcastle United blog – NUFC Fixtures, News and Forum.
  5. Report: Newcastle eye £51m double deal for Inter duo, defender and midfielder (hitc.com) Is Calciomercato in any way reputable, or is the more pertinent question are any Italian football magazine's reputable. In any case getting Calhanoglu and Drumfries for 51m would be a great bit of business. 25.5m for a 28 year old in Calhanoglu isn't ideal, but going by his stats he'd likely be worth the outlay regardless.
  6. They likely want him to replace Fernandinho, but is he going to get in the team ahead of Rodri? Pep likes to rotate, and maybe there'd be games were he wouldn't want to play both De Bruyne and Silva and start two defensive mids, but starts for Philips would likely still be sporadic at best.
  7. Kalvin Phillips could join Newcastle from Leeds | thisisfutbol.com Whether it's pure speculation or opinion from Downie, or he's privy to something he can't say explicitly at the minute, I have no idea, but if you were Philips would you rather most likely sit on the bench for Man City or Liverpool, or come to another northern team on the way up. Man City is basically the place where English centre mids go to die while picking up a massive wage.
  8. Oh right, thanks for the info 👍
  9. I know it's pride month lads, but fucking hell 😂
  10. The Newcastle United Blog | Hugo Ekitike Makes Bench For France U20s In Tournament Final - The Newcastle United Blog (nufcblog.com) Looks like Ekitike's tweet was about his injury, as opposed to anal fisting as some had speculated 🤢given he's on the bench today. Great news for us obviously.
  11. They offered him sub standard terms, but they delivered the contract in a Ferrero Rocher box.
  12. I was reading that Moussa Dembele only has a year left on his Lyon contract. Given our relationship with Lyon, and our supposed interest in the player in the past, he could be a good shout. His availability obviously likely hinges on whether Simone wants to make his loan move to Atletico permanent.
  13. In fairness Holland are absolutely stacked in the centre back department. Van Dijk although he's injured at the minute I think, Ake, de Ligt, Timber, de Vrij. They probably thought it was better that he get starts at U21 instead of sitting on the bench for the seniors.
  14. Does that mean his injury wasn't as bad as first feared? I don't speak emoji.
  15. Scamacca is playing for Italy tonight, and as I was saying the other day an educated guess would be that he's a back up, at the very least, for a forward we'll go for. The Knight Ryder said we scouted him a while back. The one thing about young Italian players is that they tend to want to stick close to home, and supposedly AC and Inter are interested in Scamacca as well.
  16. Bruno's pass for Miggy's goal is underrated.
  17. It would be better if they went one step further and you didn't know your squad and first team until your first match of the season. Imagine being a Man City supporter and Haaland stroll's out the first game of the season.
  18. Well if Maguire can go for 80m pounds, Botman might end up being a bargain even at that price, given how much potential we are told he has. And obviously going by what's been said the deal will likely be structured to pay at least half of the fee over a number of years.
  19. Plane pervert? 😂 I suppose there are worse insults.
  20. I might have my YouTube googles on, but Scamacca looks decent. He's quick and has great close control for a big lad. And you have to say it's impressive that he scored 16 league goals in a mid table team in Sassuolo.
  21. The Athletic: Newcastle join race to sign 6ft 5′ striker - PSG, Arsenal and West Ham also keen | NUFC blog – Newcastle United blog – NUFC Fixtures, News and Forum. Just read this. I forgot about Scamacca, but he was mentioned by Ryder as someone we'd scouted a while back, as is stated in the article. He would be a risk compared to DCL, but we could potentially get him for around 30m compared to DCL who I read is valued at, at least 50m by Everton.
  22. One bad season doesn't make you injury prone. His last four seasons he's played 33, 36, 35, and 32 league games.
  23. Well I think it comes down to who's the best we could get at our current level. There aren't that many forwards out there who represent low risk, when you are spending big money. Basically all of the big teams are looking for a new forward. Liverpool look to have gotten Nunez, Citeh got Haaland, Arsenal are looking, Man U, Chelsea probably will be etc. DCL at least seems plausible as someone for us to go after, and he's proven in the league as at least being capable of double figures.
  24. Like yourself I'm no medical expert, but him growing into his body does seem plausible. You can tell by looking at him that he's not finished growing and will fill out. As for DCL he has just turned 25, he'll be coming into his prime in the next few seasons, so it's entirely possible that he will become more consistent, and it's not like he's been in a very good or consistent team at Everton. One thing is for certain, and that is that he's a monster in the air, which is a seldom seen attribute these days, at least at his level, and adds value.
