  1. Maddison would be an epic signing. Him, Bruno and Joe as the midfield three would be quality. You can imagine him and Bruno taking turns at making attacking runs into the box. And a big plus is that Maddison can play in a number of attacking positions. Let's see what happens, but I can't see him going for less than 55-60m, which may rule us out given we are seemingly unwilling to pay that for Diaby. As people have said this may have been leaked by Leicester in order to try and start a bidding war. Based on the business already done and teams needs, I'd imagine it's down to us and Spurs. Arsenal were linked, but they backed out of Paqueta because they've bought that Viera kid. I suppose Man U could be in for him as well.
  2. A place called Carndonagh in Donegal. It's literally the next town south of Malin Head the most northerly place in Ireland.
  3. They cut the live match in Ireland after they started having problems. Region status kicked in. But I just caught the ten minute highlights, and fucking hell even from the little I saw of him Anderson has so much potential. He reminds me of Rooney somewhat given his physique/strength, composure on the ball, and passing ability.
  4. You'll be eating humble pie when one of the sixty players I posted rumours about get signed.
  5. Where are Wilson, Botman, Willock, Bruno and ASM? I can understand wanting to give some of the under 23's a run out, but it seems weird to not have a place on the bench at least for those five at this stage of the preseason.
  6. For what Pete Graves opinion is worth as a supposed ITK person, he also reckons that we'll see the rest of our transfer business at the end of the window. Unfortunately it will be a while yet before we can dictate the market and make our moves early. At least when it comes to the more coveted and scarce attacking players.
  7. Chicken nonce is predicting that we'll use all of our remaining money on one player, and use a loan to fill one of the two priority positions. It seems plausible enough if we could get somebody like a Hudson Odoi, Werner, etc on loan, and then maybe go all out for Diaby or DCL. I know Diaby has said he's staying, but money talks at the end of the day. The problem is that we'll likely be very close to the end of the window to get the best loan deals, and by that time the player that we'd splash out on could have gone elsewhere, or his club would be loathe to let a big player leave that late if they don't have a suitable replacement in place.
  8. The way Miggy has been playing in preseason he deserves to start on the right and be given a chance to try and bring that form in the league, almost regardless of who we sign before the window closes. Just for practical purposes said player would need to bed in anyway. Fraser at the very least should be getting twenty minutes off ASM on the left, if it's looking like ASM is going to have a game where he's falling over and whinging more often than playing for the team.
  9. I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see us spending 200m this summer after spending close to 100m in January. Plus it's not like getting a 140m loan is like heading to your bank on a Friday to get an overdraft. We're only hearing about this loan now, but it's likely it was negotiated some time ago. The problem is that details on the loan appear to light, so I'm making a lot of assumptions.
  10. Yeah what is the story with this 140m? Am I right in thinking we don't just have an extra 140m to spend, and it's been used to cover the business we've already done this summer, and any we still hope to do. That would mean we still have 80m, but then perhaps agents fees, wages etc still need to be accounted for.
  11. I was thinking more specifically of his touches in the attacking third, but apart from Botman the defence in general has looked a bit shaky to say the least.
  12. Trippier pure class as per usual.
  13. Lascelles showing exactly why he should be nowhere near the first team. The logic of Howe having him keep the captaincy is faulty at best in my opinion.
  14. Fucking hell, ASM just tracked back and made a tackle.
  15. These commentators can't even tell the difference between Bruno and Almiron 😂
  16. Apparently Werner is on 272,000 a week at Chelsea 😂 He can jog on like, fucking hell, no club is going to pay that. Fat Frank's legacy at play. The only way it would work is if Chelsea subsidised over half his wages, and from Tuchel's comments he's annoyed that Werner is even complaining about his game time.
  17. Imagine if we got Werner and Draxler and they both actually played to their potential/hype.
  18. Seems like it would probably be a loan if there's any truth to that, and despite his profligacy for Chelsea there is a player in there somewhere, and his versatility across the front three is something we are looking for. I wouldn't want us to spend decent money on buying him, but a loan would be a very low risk way of seeing if a change of scenery would help in regards to his form.
  19. Newcastle and Leicester race to sign Ludovic Ajorque - sources (footballinsider247.com) Football Insider sauces say we're interested in some giant centre forward off Strasbourg. He's 28 and is an out and out number 9, so he doesn't seem to fit the profile, then again Howe did say he was flexible depending on who was available. In any case he has impressive numbers this past two season for a mid to low level team in Ligue 1.
  20. Probably, but on the other hand he might at least for a season follow Conte's instruction because of peer pressure from team mates, and seeing Conte as a bigger name than Howe. He'd likely revert to past bad habits after a while though. Hopefully if he stays he proves me wrong this season, and Howe gets a tune out of him.
  21. It would be annoying if ASM did end up at somewhere like Spurs and play much better for them than he ever did for us, thus following the Ginola path. Of all our French wingers Robert had the most end product. The rest have generally flattered to deceive, albeit while scoring a few unbelievable goals.
  22. If you told me I'd be happy to see cheesy single signing an extension 9 months ago I'd have to you to fuck off.
  23. I just throw actual shit on the walls. It gets me the desired result as well.
  24. You throw enough shit at the wall some of it will stick, and what else is this thread for other than collecting all the rumours that may eventually turn out to be true in the odd case. Here you go Gemmill, it comes from an actual real conversation, although there is some assumptions being made on my part 😉 Lyon's head of recruitment was asked about Paqueta's future after saying that the Lyon squad needs trimming, and his response that they were prepared for every eventuality. You would presume he would have just said Paqueta wasn't for sale if he wasn't one of the players they're looking to possibly trim.
  25. The Newcastle United Blog | Newcastle Make Initial Approach For Leicester City Target - Report - The Newcastle United Blog (nufcblog.com) Another name to add to the pile. Some kid who's recently turned 21 called Diop. He can play multiple attacking positions apparently, and would cost around 20m with Monaco eager to raise funds.
