  1. Newcastle in talks with Chelsea over Timo Werner loan and have edge over RB Leipzig - Mirror Online Werner on loan and either Cornet or Maddison would be very decent. Obviously Maddison is the better player between him and Cornet, or has at least proven himself more at the PL level, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if we got Cornet given he's a very useful player. Of course Werner would need to stop fluffing so many chances, but again a loan would be a low risk way to get him. It will be very interesting to see how we line up if we get two of these three players.
  2. Cover for both positions with ASM maybe switching to the right would be my guess. I can't see anyone paying the 40m that we're looking for, for ASM. Again assuming these reports are true, but they seem pretty solid given how many journalists have picked up on it. Then again Everton are said to have agreed personal terms with him, but you'd assume we could sell a more attractive future to him than Everton currently could if we do trigger his release clause. Having checked Cornet has played right wing in his time as well, so him and ASM could maybe switch pretty interchangeably.
  3. This a bit of a departure from us supposedly wanting to structure a deal. This could move pretty quick hopefully, assuming reports are correct.
  4. Imagine being corrected by Pearson on video, forever memorialised in digital.
  5. And so Munoz's journey begins 😂 Pretty ropey in the second half, but a wins a win, and again what's most important is getting minutes into the lads. Decent preseason, now we just need a big signing between now and Forest to really get the blood pumping.
  6. We've tired which is understandable. I think I'm correct in saying that Athletic have made more subs than us as well. It's all good work to get into the legs of the lads.
  7. Great goal from ASM, from a great ball over the top by Big Joe.
  8. I'm running out of superlatives for Bruno. Barely an inch of space, quick feet gets himself away from the opposition player, and plays perfect pass into the box for Willock to run onto.
  9. Lovenkrands? I was wondering who it was, his accent's hilarious, but for whatever reason Scandinavians are like a sponge for accents. Bit of a cult favourite for me. Maybe not even cult given he was 1 in 3 for goals, but perhaps not a name that's often mentioned.
  10. Yeah Botman is looking to be quality, his passing, confidence on the ball, and reading of the game are top level. I thought maybe given his age he'd take a while to settle, and he may still do for PL level, but early signs are very good. Bruno looking a class above as per, and ASM is looking livelier and fitter than I've seen for a while.
  11. Bruno is back on. Hearts in mouths time, but seems like it was a fairly minor knock.
  12. It's working for me, so maybe it's your VPN.
  13. Donegal is not so backward now eh. 1080p live stream here the minute 😂
  14. What a ball out from the back from Botman.
  15. Fuck sake I missed Wilson's goal. No replays on this amateur hour coverage either.
  16. Douglas seems to think this loan we got will increase our spending power going forward, as opposed to have partly already been earmarked for the transfers we've done. It would be interesting to know exactly how much of that 140m we want to spend purely on transfer fees and wages.
  17. Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Sven Botman, Paul Dummett, Joelinton, Bruno Guimarães, Joe Willock, Matt Ritchie, Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson. Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, Alex Murphy, Matt Bondswell, Matty Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Lucas De Bolle, Jay Turner-Cooke, Santiago Muñoz, Dylan Stephenson.
  18. And where are you from? 🧐
  19. Seen an interesting take on twitter that pointed to the fact that with Schmeichel probably leaving Leicester, we could perhaps offer Dubravka in part exchange. It might take ten million off the Maddison price. No point in keeping Dubs as number two if he's looking to leave.
  20. Seems like those Cornet links have legs. It also seems like it might be a case of either or between him and Maddison, but perhaps not given Cornet can play up top as well. As far as a structured deal goes, Burnley have already accepted one when we bought Pope, so it's perhaps more likely they'll accept one for Cornet. If it meant that they could get more than the 17.5m lump sum release clause but over a longer period of time they might go for it.
  21. I don't know about that. I rate him as a player who could easily play in a top six team, if not quite being of pressing interest to Liverpool or CIteh. Obviously it all depends on which of those teams are in need of player of Maddison's profile. Of those teams at present I'd expect Spurs and maybe Man U, although Eriksen plays in a similar position to Maddison, to be interested.
  22. If all this stuff about us wanting to pay teams fifty quid a month for fifty years, and the lend of a villa in Marbella every summer for players is true, you have to question what the club and Ashworth in particular are doing. What's the point in offering a structured 35m bid when Leicester would likely not accept a structured bid of 45m, and going by current market values they'd be absolutely right not to. Hopefully Ashworth proves me wrong by the end of the window, but if all these leaks about what we are bidding are true, then he's not currently filling me with confidence.
  23. He plays inside right at most with Castagne or whoever is playing right back heavily overlapping, and predominantly plays right or left in a central three in a midfield five. Rogers tinkers about nonstop with his formations and player positions, but Maddison is clearly best suited to attacking from central positions. Rogers has been stuck for a genuine consistent option of a player in a traditional right wing role. You're not going to get Maddison sticking wide, getting up and down the wing, helping Trippier, getting crosses in, you know as an actual winger would do. Or rather that's not a role he's ultimately suited for. Of course this debate is entirely pointless unless we actually sign him.
  24. He's predominantly an attacking midfielder. I can count on one hand the times he's played as a winger, or wide of a front three. Could he at a push play wide right or left, sure, but you wouldn't be getting the best out of him.
