The problem with trying to loan forwards is that unless you are incredibly lucky there aren't many teams who'd be willing to loan an attacking player who's actually quality and will improve a team. Obviously if we could get Broja on loan and sign Diaby that would be ideal, but that doesn't seem like it's going to be possible. For the loan thing to even be worth it I'd imagine we'd need to pay a sizeable loan fee up front, and also include and obligation to buy.

Reading between the lines if this guy is on our list of targets, I'd imagine he's fairly far down given he'll be 28 in October, and we're trying to bring down the average age of the squad. Pretty much every other player we've been linked to in the forward areas, apart from Zapata and Asensio, have been 25 or under. By the same token he'd likely be a fair bit cheaper because of his age. I've seen figures between 20 and 30m mentioned.

I would say Howe will ideally want all his business done at the lastest the 26th of July if not a bit before, given we have that run of pre-season games against Benfica, Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao. But obviously as Galetti was saying in that tweet transfers tend to happen in a domino effect, especially ones for forwards, so once somebody like Broja, DCL, Scamacca etc move, it could speed up business elsewhere. Having said all that if we are being tough in price negotiation, that could prolong negotiations until the other club starts feeling the heat and brings down their price.

How reliable is Galetti? I hear his name mentioned quite a bit, but I've never paid enough attention to gauge how full of shit or not he is.

I've seen a few people say he can play anywhere along the front three, so perhaps he could mostly be played wide for a season or two until he matured enough in order to play centrally. Having said that I've looked at his stats and he's literally only played on the left wing once, and the same for the right. I've not seen him play for Sweden so perhaps he's played a number of positions for them.

It's somewhat of a risk at that price, but we'd be paying for potential given his age and how highly rated he is. There's people in football who seriously compare Isak to his Swedish compatriot Ibrahimovic.

I'm not privy to the intricacies of FFP, but obviously it would be nice to get both. Having said that if getting both would push us dangerously close to breaking FFP rules I'd rather we took the slow and steady approach to building our squad. It's not as if the football authorities are going to be doing us any favours should we even get close to breaking any spending rules.

If I'm being extremely picky it would be nice to also get either a def mid specialist or an attacking mid, so perhaps something will turn up in the loan market.

Assuming chicken pedo is incorrect with regard to our remaining budget, should we get Isak and someone like Asensio, it would represent a quantum leap in the quality of options for our forward line. I would assume buying both Isak and Diaby in one window would be prohibitively expensive, so perhaps that's why Asensio's name has been floating about recently.

If Ekitike completes his move to PSG then you'd assume that would put them out of the race for Scamacca. Whether Scamacca would want to join a team not in the CL is another matter.

It's a tricky one, hard to see where he and Chelsea will land on it. If I was Broja I'd have eliminated Everton already, but perhaps he feels some loyalty towards Lampard. Maybe an obligation as opposed to option to buy would get us over the line. Of course as ever this is assuming that this article is accurate. Hopefully the line about there being some movement on this within the next few days is also accurate.

Just seen that AFCON has been postponed until January 2024, so given we'd have three transfer windows between now and then, buying multiple African nation players wouldn't pose as much of a headache.
