Newcastle United: Ben Jacobs drops interesting Lucas Paqueta transfer claim | thisisfutbol.com No idea how reliable this Ben Jacobs lad is but he's basically echoing the other report in regard to Lyon having lowered their demands in terms of a fee. He goes on to say that we along with other clubs are talking to his agent to see what it would take to sign him. If any of the aforementioned is true you would like to think we have an advantage given he and Bruno's connection.
-
Dennis and Paqueta would be the two I'd currently pick given our apparent failure on other targets. Both Cornet and Dennis can play across a front three, but I think Dennis is more comfortable playing centre forward. Again Dennis would kill two birds with one stone being able to play wide and centrally, and we clearly do need a creative player in midfield alongside Bruno and Joe, with Paqueta being ideal. Dennis may only cost 20m maybe 25m. We keep hearing we only have a certain amount to spend because of FFP, who knows what the truth is, but for two quality players we could perhaps try and structure the payments for one or both. Of course given that Watford are in the Championship we could perhaps give them someone like a Murphy, Manquillo, Ritchie or Fernandez in part exchange. All four would do a job for a Championship side. With regard to Arsenal and Paqueta I think it's pretty unlikely that they'd go after him after spending so much on this Fabio Viera lad who's also an attacking mid.

😂 The travelling fans are singing Heaven is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle. Can't make out which player the song is for.

Not sure where the commentator is getting that Almiron's end product has drastically improved since Howe came in. He mentions that goal of the season contender he scored last season, but the very odd goal he does score tends to be decent.

Worst comes to the worst I do believe we'll get a few on loan towards the end of the window, with the likes of Hudson-Adoi, Pulisic, players from abroad etc, becoming available once other teams have done their business for the window. If that's what happens it will be a reality check of where we still stand in the pecking order for any of those that need it.
-
In fairness there's over six weeks until the window closes, so it's not time for the pampers yet. I'm trying to take my own advice by saying this as opposed to pointing fingers 😂👍

Eddie Howe ready to gamble on fitness of Callum Wilson this season and rely on forward for 20 goals | Daily Mail Online Hope is saying that we're going to spend all our remaining money on a winger, and rely on Wilson up front, with Howe drawing up a special training plan for him to hopefully keep him fit the majority of the season. On the other hand Howe was interviewed recently and he said that he wants another couple of players. Howe a few days before that interview was talking about getting at least one, and perhaps having to alter our plans in terms of position we were going after. So maybe I'm reading too much into it, but perhaps things have shifted a bit in the market and we'll be getting two attacking players instead of just spending all our remaining money on a right winger.
-
He'll fit right in, in East London then. The Italian version of the Krays.
-
So they're after Broja and Scamacca, and already have Antonio obviously vying for one spot up top? Seems unlikely, but I suppose with Antonio's fitness concerns, and the fact that Broja can play wide it's not totally out of the question. I'd have to admit I'd be more than a little envious if West Ham pulled off both those transfers given our current position in the market.
-
Best case scenario is that most stuff you see in the papers is almost pure speculation, and Ashworth and co will sign two or three players in a very short space of time, one or two of which will comes as a nice surprise, perhaps not have even been mentioned as possibilities. Chris Waugh and few others have hinted that we're trying to buy someone who hasn't been reported on as of yet.
-
Glass half full maybe we've made some progress on another target, and so didn't feel the need to go back in for Broja again. You would hope by the end of next week we'll see some substantial movement on someone. Of course it's also likely that moving to West Ham was just the most convenient option for Broja if he's only going to be going on loan.

Leeds slap £35m price tag on Jack Harrison amid interest from Newcastle | Daily Mail Online If this is accurate then my assumption about his price was correct, and I still think that's too expensive for what he is.
-
If that's his security it would be amusing if Pearson tries to get overfamiliar with Bruno at some point in the future.
-
Yeah they'll want at least some money for him, but perhaps he's nervous about moving just before the World Cup and not getting in the Spain squad. Then again if he's not getting regular game time for Madrid he likely won't anyway.
-
The Knight Rider has said that he asked the club about Asensio and it hasn't been ruled out as of yet. I was under the impression that Asensio was staying at Madrid, but perhaps not.

Doesn't Kinnear literally have Alzheimer's now? 😬

Arsenal are supposedly ready to allow Pepe to be sold for a third of what they paid for him, with a bid of between 20 to 25m enough to get him. Leeds are reportedly interested in making a bid. I'm not sure what went wrong for Pepe, but he's definitely a very talented player on his day, and his record in France before he got his move was insane. I wouldn't doubt Howe if he thought he could get him back to something approaching that form. At the price stated it's probably well worth the risk. The only thing you have to question is if it's an attitude issue, can something like that really be solved. In an ideal world he would come, find form, and cement that right wing spot for himself. He's almost exactly the profile of player we're looking for i.e. goal scoring right winger. He's just a bit older than Howe and co would like with him have just turned 27.

-
He's arguably rawer than even Ekitike if you look at his age, stats, starts etc. 19 year old kid although he turns 20 at the end of the month, 36 apps for Bordeaux, but only 9 of those were starts, 7 goals, 4 assists. It's out of left field to say the least, but if Atletico are after him as well he's probably decent, they have top class scouts. Who knows how legit this French twatter bloke is, but if we are actually after him, we clearly aren't afraid of potentially having to be patient for a kid like this to mature. Then again Ashworth literally wanted to buy Nunez before he went to Benfica, so he knows more than me 🧐

Newcastle United: Club Sold To PCP - Official
Polarboy replied to The Mighty Hog's topic in Newcastle Forum
This guy is an award winner, he has been named the MLS Executive of the Year on two occasions. He was also named World Football Summit Executive of the Year in 2019. Eales said: “Newcastle United is both a giant of a club, and the heartbeat of its community. Every time I have visited St James’ Park, I’ve been overwhelmed by the passion of the fans. “This is a club with an amazingly rich heritage, and I am delighted to be joining for this new chapter in its long history. “I am grateful for the opportunity, and look forward to working with the rest of the team to help this storied club fulfil its potential.” The club’s investment group, comprising PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, said: “We are delighted to announce Darren Eales as the club’s new CEO. He is an exceptional leader and is a great fit for Newcastle United. “We have conducted an exhaustive recruitment process to ensure we identified and secured the right individual for the CEO position, and we are confident we have found that person in Darren. “He has a deep understanding of the football industry and what it takes to achieve growth and success, and he will be a key member of the club’s leadership team as we look to deliver on the club’s potential on and off the pitch.” Ashworth and Eales, intelligent people who have an excellent understanding of the football world and the contacts to match. Slight bit of a step up from Penfold and Kinnear. -
Might just have to include Bruno in my FF team if he's going to consistently make those surging runs into the opposition box. It seems like he's playing in a substantially different role for us than at his previous club where he was more of a deep lying playmaker.

I suppose you don't get early preseason commentary duty because you're at the top of your game.

The commentator is fucking shite. I wasn't paying attention for a second and he said Joelinton had gotten a second yellow. I thougt he was off, but the melt just meant second yellow of the game after Lascelles'. Tasty enough challenge from Big Joe, but not all that much intent I'd imagine.
