Interesting read. How have the voters on this poll been verified as being different the the petition signers and the emailers? The norm would be to assume a severe overlap, surely? The figure of 10,000 (which is now anywhere up the 15,000 according to the 'interview' published a couple of days later) is still well short of the majority of supporters repeatedly claimed by the campaign. 111281 Could you be a bit more specific please?

I don't own Newcastle-Online, I just help out.

Not sure on this but isnt his missus on the mend? I thought that was how he was now in the frame for jobs? If that is the case then maybe it could go in our favour, wouldnt he have more spark than ever, being keen to get back in there and prove himself again? 111366 I think she's better aye, and fingers crossed she remains that way, but given her illness she could go into remission but I'm sure MON won't accept any kind of job unless he's 100% satisfied he could do that job. I just worry about the inbetween. I still think if he gets offered the England job, he'll take it though and where that leaves us is anyones guess. Sven and Big Sam seem to be names that won't go away. I'd be happy with Big Sam like, Sven I'm not sure. Doubt we'll get either mind.

It was me, I asked the questions and answered them... I also think the Hitzfeld contact thing is fairly obvious, in that it's referring to the time he acknowledged the campaign, the following question basically explains that. But then I think people knew that and were just acting the bollocks. As for the German thing, no Peasepud that isn't referring to your 'newspaper', it's referring to an article from the Times back in February where their "sources" told them Hitzfeld fears how fans and the media would treat a German manager managing in the UK.

My main concern with O'Neill is his wife's illness, if she tails it say halfway through next season, where will that leave us? He's a risky option given those circumstances. (I say that not knowing the extent of his wife's illness) My other concern is that a few Celtic fans I've talked to claim he lost some of his spark once his wife become ill and they noticed a huge decrease in focus and direction from their team towards the end of the season. I can't help feel half his success is down to his passion and energy (like KK) and if that somehow gets reduced I don't think he has enough in his other lockers to compensate for that (again like KK). I like the sound of his back-room staff though, they seem highly thought of and while O'Neill's 'style' also concerns me, I did watch a fairly indepth interview on John Barnes' football show a few years back where he said he would change his methods if he knew that would bring success so I'm hopeful that given the resources and quality of players he'll be able to sign, he'll expand his football ideologies. Still prefer Hitzfeld like

Fucking BBC Radio...

Agreed and the defender you mention is perfect example of someone turning things around which I still feel Boumsong can do, given some support from fans, good coaching and whether he wants it badly or not. He's not a bad player, he has no confidence, is playing in a side that just doesn't cut our crosses, has a keeper that doesn't commands the defence (as much as I'd like him to anyway) and really, not many players regardless would stand out in defence with the way we defend and lineup. He did well enough when he first signed and whenever I've seen him for France he's looked the part, also looked good for Auxerre a few seasons ago. Fingers crossed he can turn things around because we can't afford to keep writing off huge chunks of money. Anyway when Hitzfeld's appointed, he'll sort him out

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched
Howaythetoon replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
Not a flim but I watched the full series of Band of Brothers again last week. Great show but the way they portray the Brits lets it down, otherwise cracking stuff. Watching series 1&2 of the Sopranos this week. Other day I watched that Anchor Man? Thought that was canny in a light hearted way. Zanny in parts which I like. -

House of the Banned - Who's getting banned next?
Howaythetoon replied to Taylor27's topic in General Chat
ahem..... I can confirm that being banned on NO doesn't exempt you from logging in, reading threads, and sending pm's 109875 Is correct. I have access to one part of the forum, the writers forum as I need to converse with writers. I can view the board but can't make posts. If they banned my IP then I wouldn't be able to view the board. Anyway, their loss, your gain Toonastic. 109882 They did it on purpose tbh 109908 I reckon this is all one big conspiracy to get me over to Toontastic as this forum was dying a death tbh, too perpetual, too snobby. The Hitzfeld hoax was an elaborate stunt to get me banned from N.O so I would post more on here, in the hope I would take over and become your leader. I mean, reading some of the NUFC stuff, you could do with some badly constructed, longwinded, kick-ass articles on the Toon to ignite discussion. And furthermore, being a Toon forum legend, you're hoping my ban will bring my thousands of devotees over to here with me, or as N.O refer to this place - "the dark side". You sir and your fellow co-conspirators are fucking genius'. This ranks alongside Dunkirk, I expect my flock to follow their leader over to here within days, thus boosting membership and discussion ten-fold. Pretty soon, you will be able to change that title in the header to "largest Toon forum on the web". Or maybe... ahh, it's all coming back to me now. The whole Hitzfeld campaign was set up by me, to get me to here, like in Fight Club. Wow, I'm a fucking genius. -
Not automaticaly, no. I don't think so, you have to tick the "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder" box when sending a PM. 109898 Ahh, cheers. I'll just obtain the original PMs from the persons who got them anyway. What about this messenger full thing, do I delete them all? I have a few important PMs I don't wanna delete like so it's a hassle having to sift through ones I need and paste into notepad. Gol, Craig, can you not increase inbox messages for your favourite forum member?
-
It says I've reached my maximum thingy of 50 inbox and also, sent PM's have gone, does this forum not save sent PMs? Do I delete my inbox and the PM thing will work again?

I'd say Sven has a great chance, said that from the start, for me it's O'Neill, Sven, Hitzfeld or Big Sam in that order. I think O'Neill will get the England job. I noticed Sir Bobby backed him today, could mean something or could mean nowt. I'm not sure of Sven, he obviously has a good CV and I think he's a better club manager than national, I blame most faults with England on the coaches (McClaren) but I don't know, would need bags of money and would fuck off if a better job came in. I'd prefer Big Sam, he's my second choice. I've heard Big Sam wasn't impressed with either FS or Shearer who sat on the panel interviewing him the last time apparently, could be bull though but reading his comments about Bobby's sacking I get the impression he thinks Freddy's a loathesome twat.

Wasn't that last season? And iirc correctly you were definitely someone who supported Souness longer than was reasonable..... 109885 Aye.

We overachieved last night. Season ended the day FS appointed Souness.

I do aye. I saw enough good in him last season where he performed well enough and consistently enough, to suggest he can do a job for us. He wasn't amazing last season, but he did well and I don't think many will disagree. This season he's been shite, but so has the whole team minus one or two and even then, the performances of Parker for example have been exaggerated anyway because of the sheer trasth we've served up. What I want to know is how come a defender who has looked good for France whenever I've seen him, who has marked Henry out of the game a few times now, who has good attributes, who did OK last season, is now playing like shite? Ahh, maybe I'm wrong, we all see a different game after all. I'm standing by him though, I don't think he's as bad as some make out and I think he can still be of use to us under the right circumstances. Fingers crossed anyway!

Cisse ready to apologise to Newcastle fans
Howaythetoon replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
What's the world coming to? I wasn't offended by his actions, and we need more of this in the game in my opinion. I think it's great. Say sorry, for what? For sticking his fanny tickler out to some gadgees? Howay... -
Toon want Owen to sign up for life..
Howaythetoon replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
Link? We (IMO) need to get this chip we have off our shoulders where everyone is out to get us or put us down. Owen speaks about England a lot because he gets asked about England a lot. Like it or not England are a bigger story than NUFC to the national media and overseas media. I wonder if Real Madrid fans are sick of Dvid Beckham talking about England... Or perhaps Man Utd fans with Rooney, or Liverpool Gerrard? In fact I know the last one, they are sick of it... but then they've always had a chip on the shoulder, they also pissed and moaned about Owen answering questions abour England. Seems they have a new rival. Shame it's off the pitch. -
For me - communication with fans. Not the usual guff or hot air either, he's assessing problems and weaknesses at the club and saying look, this needs to happen, this doesn't, we need to look at this and that. He's been open and honest too regarding injuries, team selection and such. Whether this is him just chomping at the bit, all excited he can't help but have an opinion on everything and anything, or a real attempt to communicate with fans, I don't care. It's refreshing and I can't help feel Souness brought a lot of flack and lack of sympathy onto himself with his stubborn, non-commital ways, i.e. his lack of communication with fans. Also, I think he's doing a sterling job in promoting the club, or rather the potential of it to the outside lurkers. I hope the club look after him, I'd personally give him carte blanch with the academy side and maybe even the scouting side as he's been talking about that recently, and a club should do things a certain way, i.e. not the way we currently do things. Good head on good shoulders, good coach but average manager for me. Probably our best bit of business in 18 months as a club.
