We were expected the lose every game and look out of our depth. We have not been. The two loses could have went either way, just like the PSG could have if they taken their chances when they came. Eddie Howe has been such a revelation. Tino, Burn and Bruno have been golden nuggets that have done far better than expected to varying degrees. I feel proud of our club. Sad not to have won but not let down. I love the fact that I believe in the project. I love the fact that I really like our players. We are currently living the good days with NUFC at the minute and I know it. It feels great. It feels exciting. It feels positive.

It is hard not to be happy with how we have performed. Not happy with the result but we have held ourselves well. Joelinton's header in and the cross the keeper just pushed back were 2 massive moments. They were a really good team and we have 5 players who could have started or on the bench not available. If we could have brought on Barnes, Gordon, Isak, Miggy and Toonali it would have been different. Which it wasn't. Lascelles did well tonight. Second goal came because we had to go for it.

This is how I processed the line up. Gordon must be shattered after all the game time he has had recently but maybe his tired legs against a set of legs that have just played 60+ minutes could work. Looks exciting if it is Tino on the RW. I can only really see Gordon and Almiron coming off the bench.

I think I have missed a really good game tonight. Slightly gutted.

He actually stubbed Dougle's tab out on his hand. Typical Mag behaviour, twisting stories.

To be fair, he is a horrible character. Anyone remember that awful work he did with the food banks? If that doesn't show you just how much of a shady character he is, nothing will.

The closet I have ever come to being interested in Sunderland's demise was Sunderland Til I Die. Part of it was amusing because it was Sunderland and we had Ashley at the time so there wasn't much to shout about. The majority of the interest came from the genuine fascination of how badly an organisation could be ran. In the end though, I think I would have been just as interested if it had been someone like Bolton.

I wonder how hard it is to be a Mackem. You watch that game, feel gutted for Luton (not just for us) and as a Mackem, it ruins your weekend because of Newcastle. I couldn't even tell you who would need to win to spoil Sunderland's weekend, other than us.

It shows that Howe wasn't just talking rubbish either. I would have been happy to see him go in the summer and I was a little confused when he remained and we hadn't gone looking for a better option, looking long term, for Schar. Longstaff, Murphy, Joelinton, Lascelles. The man has shown his ability to unlock potential that a number of mangers, not just Bruce, failed to do.

I think it was a close game. I think Arsenal edged it but that is because of the difference in the way it went after our goal. I think we should be really happy with this. 2 forces changes in the game as well and we still managed to do very well. No Isak, Tonali, Botman, Barnes and lost Murphy and Burn. We did well.
