I think Villa were up for it today. They still wanted a goal at the end. Fact of the matter was that we were just too good for them. They did not play bad, they were alright but we were better. Nice to see a strong bench and still have Willock to come back. I wouldn't turn down more signings but I think we have enough for an alright season.

I think we need to have a bit of a sit back here and acknowledge that Villa are a decent team with a really good manager. This is an amazing performance all things considered. We have been brutal.

Unfortunately not, I got 20 minutes into a walk before it poured it down. You would think that a waterproof would do, the job (technically it did) but, with a 13 year old, it was the end of any thoughts of enjoying the 3 peaks. I think this is a good summary. I didn't understand why we went for Dubravka when we did as Darlow was doing a good job. The outcome was a clear improvement. Then the same happened with Pope, a massive improvement.

I thought that but also thought that Pope made a massive difference when he came in for Dubs. He was a signing that I did not understand at the time but the full back line seem so much more switched on and his sweeping seems to make the difference to those balls that come through making up for some of the pace.

The other academy players rate them extremely highly. Apparently all Lewis does is want to get better and better. I really hope that they have a positive future as it would be great to see local lads do well out of our academy. It would be good to see the club invest in that avenue just as much as bringing in big signings. I have a positive attitude towards West Ham and I think it can only be because they produced J Cole, Ferdinand, Lampard and Defoe- it was so exciting to see the young talent come through. I have no other interest for them. It would be great if we could have a pool come through like this. I don't think it could happen but I would genuinely love it.
