The day that Nikki comes out of the house Dr Kenny will be there. You might not see me, but I'll be there. With my sniper rifle. -
Carrick has to start on saturday doesn't he?

Carragher to play the holding role?
Dr Kenneth Noisewater replied to Dr Kenneth Noisewater's topic in Newcastle Forum
Out of position at right-back. How many times have we seen him play midfield anchor? He has two specialist holding midfielders in his squad, why, if he's going to play a defender out of position in that role. If he's not planning to use Carrick and Hargreaves it makes it even more ridiculous that he's only taking four strikers (one injured, one convalescing, one goal-shy and one unproven). I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong by the way. -
Another Owen injury?

BBC now reporting Owen probably won't play. -

My sentiments exactly. -
From The Times: Waddle made the case that Hargreaves plays anchor for Bayern Munich, is a constant in their team and has won the european cup and three doubles in the last four seasons. He reckons the only reason Hargreaves gets a poor reaction in this country is because we don't get to see the german league games and that Sven either plays him in a different position or brings him on as a late sub (he's obviously not an impact player). Carrick would be my first choice and I would play him on tuesday night. But I might be tempted to give Hargreaves a start in his prefered position in the final freindly. This Carragher stuff makes no sense and is another example of a man who has managed more freindlies and made more substitutions than any other England manager getting to the eve of the World cup and making rash, panicky decisions when his favored players and their immediate replacements should have been something he had set in stone months ago.

Teletext are reporting that Owen has a tight thigh muscle and has had a precautionary scan. Shows the stupidity of only taking four forwards. Players (especially Owen) are bound to pick up knocks or niggles over the next few weeks.

Isn't there a story that Freddie fucked it up by insisting that Roeder and Shearer had to be part of the set-up when O'neill wanted to bring his own back-room team with him?

Sounds more like you've just stopped caring. Next stop pottering. 142039[/snapback] I think you might be right actually. What I was trying to pass off as retro-chic, is in reality, that I can't be arsed anymore.

I think I must be a dedicated follower of retro. I've recently started wearing a watch I got in the '80s, one of those with Analogue and digital displays. I've also got my Italia'90 England shirt out and wear Adidas Gazelles or chocolate brown nubuck New Balance trainers.

He's going to be McClarens 'consultant' when he takes the England job. Wonder who's next on Boro's list?

Haven't we had enough bad-boy/bad attitude/troublemakers? I think there are greater needs than centre mid anyway.
