1. And that would surprise you would it? 127273 Unfortunately not.
2. I don't really buy that argument, because the fact is that we don't have the players to compete with Man U, Liverpool or Chelsea. And that's not Roeder's fault. Yes, they could have competed better on the day, but it's a long term thing getting us back on a par with that lot. Here's Oliver's bit from the Chron btw: 127264 I have to say that if we ended up with Roder and the scum got O'Neil I would be right fucked off. 127271 I don't think McClaren's gonna get the England job any more mate, following the lukewarm press reaction. I think Boro are stuck with him and O'Neill will need to wait for the next Premiership sacking.
3. By the way, the business about Shearer in the Oliver article is pathetic. If this decision is all down to keeping Shearer involved at the club, then it's absolutely ridiculous. We're staking our future on a bloke who we don't even know will cut the mustard as a manager??
4. Do you think the likes of Bolton do? They have put in some good performances against the top teams in recent seasons.. 127266 So've we. They don't do it every time they play the top teams though. Neither do we.

6. http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcast...-name_page.html First bit about it in the Chron.
7. I've got some of Graceland too when I was *sings* down in the jungle room.
8. The latest news from N-O is that he'll get us relegated next season. Has this been confirmed anywhere?
9. News just in... 127239 Front and back page exclusive tomorrow if he does go ahead with his Roeder one today and gets it wrong.
10. If this is true and the club wanted to clear things up with the FA, I can see Oliver getting his arse paddled off Shepherd for being unable to control his gob before the guidance from the FA was obtained. Having said that, it would be Shepherd's own stupid fault for making his mouth go to Oliver (a journalist wanting to break the big story) in the first place.
11. Silence while everyone checks .com.
12. Check .com Glenn gets gig - in theory: Meet the new boss.... The next full-time manager of Newcastle United will be Glenn Roeder - if the club can reach agreement with the FA over a timetable for his permanent appointment. That was the news being reported on Tyneside today, although it seems as if the story may have appeared prematurely. From what we can gather, the scenario is this: Roeder's allotted 12 week tenure as stand-in boss has now expired, but the club successfully appealed to the FA for an extension until the end of the season - citing the ongoing uncertainty over the FA's appointment of a new England boss as a mitigating factor. The decision has now been made by the club to appoint Roeder on a permanent basis, but further clearance is required for this to be ratified as a valid appointment by the FA. Our rationale appears to be that the part -qualified Roeder will complete the outstanding parts of the Prolicence course before next season, meaning he'll take charge for our opening game of 2006/07 with all required qualifications. We've now reputedly asked for this to be rubber-stamped by the FA. Saturday saw Roeder oversee his tenth victory in fifteen games since taking over from Graeme Souness in February.
13. I suspect Shearer's been doing very little outside of his normal captain's duties.
14. If he listened to Phil Thompson, he'll listen to anyone tbh.
15. If it turns out not to be true, I SINCERELY hope Oliver still goes ahead with his front and back page spread. It would eclipse the Emerton gaffe no bother. Sackable offence too, surely!
16. You're sat with your ear pressed to the speaker to be first to report the news, aren't you?
17. Aye, I pretty much agree. Although it is tinged just a hint of missed opportunity.
18. Will any bookies take a double on Roeder getting the job and N-O going down simultaneously, do you think?
19. The lad over on NO or a source of yours?
20. Not if he's going to make me listen to George Michael afterwards. 127191 Fast Love. Literally.
21. O'Neill will be kicking himself for messing us about over the England job if he ends up with neither. He could have had this in the bag months ago.
22. If it's true, I'd like to be the first to register my approval of the decision. No he's not a big name, but he knows the club, he knows what we're about, and he's making a decent fist of it at the mo. So good luck to the bloke if it is him.
23. So do you think Houllier should "go upstairs" in a DOF position? I personally think it will be unlikely he would and if he came he would want to manage the team. However i would expect Roeder to be first team coach, well he better be I do not want Phil fucking Thompson anywhere near our team. 127143 Well it would seem the logical step to me. Houllier must be getting on these days is he not? Old head advising younger up and coming manager. I'd be happy with what you suggest too, but if one of them was to be DofF, surely it would have to be Houllier.
24. So......if we beat Birmingham (away) at the weekend, and Blackburn lose to Charlton (away), we would be 3 points ahead of them, and whilst they'd have a game in hand, they'd have an inferior goal difference. It's all gonna go down to a nasty nailbiter on the last day of the season isn't it?
