Like wire wool, I bet! 85254 Golden Virginia tbh. Their dads smoke it.

Think of all those starving African children, with no water to drink because you and the manc boy want to smell like tarts. 85238 They could probably drink the water AFTER I've showered in it. Not like that brown kakkie watta that gurgles down the plug with you night-beforers!
-
I've got dry skin and that would be seriously bad for me, so there! 85237 Urgh, flakey boy! Renton's got the lurgy!
-
Support from the pleasantly Smelling Noisewater and Manc-mag against the stinky "night-before"ers! Nice one lads. By the way, I'm the same as the Doc - if I have a bath or shower the night before, I would still have one in the morning. I'm a clean machiiiine.

I honestly can't see what this 5 year plan is. Their wage bill isn't going to drop significantly if they're going to maintain a playing squad of the current calibre, and their turnover isn't going to go up all that much (barring them selling out a huge stadium at Earl's Court every week) - it actually fell slightly in a season in which they won the Premiership. There aren't that many untapped foreign markets out there that aren't already saturated by Man United (and yeah, foreign fans may change allegiance easier, but not to the extend that Chelsea would vastly increase turnover). So basically, they're going to have to reduce all other costs to £38m or less (turnover less wages) just to break even, when these costs are currently running at £124m (not including the exceptional items). Now they can harp on about the new sponsorship deals etc, but I can't see those new deals being worth an extra £80m in turnover. And they haven't even got involved in buying Earl's Court and all the costs involved in that yet. Good luck Mr. Kenyon.

Erickson Out! We can do better!

I'd love to know what this plan is that's going to see them turning a profit within 5 years. Wage bill of £109m on turnover of £147m! Even if you took out the "exceptional" (non-recurring) items that total around £50m, they're still losing £90m or so. Completely unsustainable if Abramovich was to get bored......which is possible if the Chosen One left and the trophies dried up.

Anyone heard Bill Hicks' bit about the lack of mention of dinosaurs in the bible? Canny funny like.

I'm sure the NME used to be good. These days it seems to be staffed by GCSE students. OMG BEST BRITISH ALBUM EVA!!111!1111

And he's proven he knows no other way to play football apart from the long ball Sven In! 85174 Has he? Please explain what you're basing this on, I'd like to know. 85179 He says it on his CV. Pay attention, Double-Oh Renton!
-
You've proven throughout the course of this thread that you knew NOTHING about Erickson's CV. So shush. 85133 You've proven over the last 18 months you knew NOTHING about Souness full stop. So shut it! 85136 I'd obviously studied his CV about as closely as you'd studied Sven's. Now zip it!

Most successful England manager ever, in terms of results an'all. Crap CV tbh. Where's the SPL Championship? That's what Renty baby's looking for. For a bloke that places so much emphasis on CVs, quite how you look at that and then look at O'Neill's and pick O'Neill is a mystery to me. Also, Sven handled the pressure of the England job - there's tons of that as Newcastle manager. From what I've heard, O'Neill was a nightmare with the press a lot of the time as Celtic manager and struggled with the pressure (I appreciate that his wife's illness may have contributed) - if he struggled with the pressure of a two-horse race to the title, he may have one or two problems at Newcastle.
-
I think you're wrong about him being a PR disaster. The bloke was hounded by the English press more than any previous English manager, simply because he was foreign. Ignoring his private life (what concern is it of ours?), in his professional responsibilities he would seem a good choice - there'd certainly be no "jobs for the boys". Agree about him costing a fortune though. I can't believe you'd turn your nose up at Sven because he has no flair, but your first choice is Captain Longball, Martin O'Neill. 85112 Ericksson plays horrible negative football even though he has some of the best players in the planet available to him - what do you imagine he will be like here? O'Neill on the other hand has the intelligence to play his team according to the players' ability, he has proved he can work with little money. Besides, I think accusing him of playing the long ball game doesn't really stand up to analysis; at least not the games I have watched. I reckon you're just repeating a tired cliche without having a clue whether it's true or not. I think a lot of people criticise Allerdyce quite unfairly for the same misperception. When appointing a manager, to me the most important thing to look at is their CV - a difficult concept for some it seems, since we ended up with Souness last time and some supported that appointment . Ericksson's CV doesn't impress me at all from what I can remember, although if he is ever truly in the frame for the Newcastle job I will study it more closely. 85118 Erickson gets results. Regardless of what you think of his style of play, that much is undeniable. I'd be happy to have some of that. I don't watch Scottish football, but I wouldn't fancy watching a team that played like O'Neill's Leicester every week. As for Allardyce - the football Bolton play is pretty dire for the most part, but again, he gets results, so you can't really argue with it. Study Erickson's CV tonight and provide me with a report. I want it in my PMs by tomorrow morning. And smarten yourself up, T-shirt boy!

I'd be right about him too Gemmill; hopefully it'll never happen. Edit: btw Gemmill, if we appointed a manager who you thought wasn't right for the club, would you say so, or would you just give him the standard 2 years unfaltering support? 85108 I'm gonna try and just be negative from the beginning. It's brought you and Leazes Mag nothing but misery over the last 18 months, and I fancy that lifestyle.

Renton's already register his pre-emptive "Erickson Out!" the other day, which means he's officially afforded Erickson less time than he did Souness.

You are NEVER chirpy while you're on nights, you big liar!
-
*holds nose* No, stinky boy, I don't! I just make sure I'm sparkling before I leave the house, unlike you stinky night-before-shower plebs. Poo-wiffer!
-
Much happier in hotpants and a feather boa, I imagine. I can see why your employer would want to keep you away from the public tbh. And no, I don't have a night sweat problem, I just couldn't get up and get dressed without having a shower - it just doesn't seem right.

The Express are running this story as well - with the famed "club source" saying that we would be very interested in Sven. His wages would be massive though, you would think, and there would be better offers coming in from abroad, I'm sure. If he wants to come to the Prem though, outside of the big teams (who aren't looking to change their manager) we must be a pretty good bet. Although I don't imagine for a second there's any substance to these stories at this stage.

Up early too eh!? 85067 See the morning routines thread. I can't help it.

A professional coaching set-up at NUFC. Could it be true?

Got it in one mate. Very perceptive I might add too. You got that right, fatso.

Waking up at 5 to leave for work at 7.30 is madness! What time do you go to bed? I wake up at 7.15, get up for 7.30, leave for work at 7.50, and get there for 8.30ish if all goes well. I'm always tired because I go to be too late though. 85037 I can't help it man. I'm the same on a weekend, I'm just completely incapable of sleeping in. If I stay up late to try and engineer a lie-in I just end up waking up at 5 or 6 anyway. By the way, people who shower the night before are dirty pigs - FACT! And what are you doing going to work in jeans and a T-shirt?
