No idea what the fuck he said to get banned. i was speaking to some people who know him before the Derby game and they all said he is a decent bloke. Dont always agree with him but he makes plenty of provocative comments which is what its all about Its a joke that anyone gets banned from a message board for fuck sake. PC gone mad?
  2. The lack of atmosphere is in part a reflection of the risk averse, ponceified, politically correct, middle class, inactive, inoffensive society we are rapidly becoming where people are frightened to offend in public and want instant success fed on a diet of Sky tv hype and bullshit
  3. The football certainly is boring crap, which doesnt help, but I remember going to away games in the early 1980's when we were mid table 2nd division and going nowhere. And yet our away following back then were far more vocal then than they are now even though they had less to shout about. I don't remember them getting at the players as quickly as they do now. Maybe I'm looking back through rose tinted glasses or maybe expectations were lower then. I also think that back then our away support tended to be more local whereas now theres a much bigger proportion of people in office type jobs who live outside the area (like myself) who just don't generate the same type of atmosphere as in the past.
  4. Agree. Red Star - Partisan would be well up there as well
  5. I look out for and have a little bit of interest in Walsall, a team local to where I live. Have you an issue with that? I tell you what it's ironic coming from that cunt as well considering he has a "London club" in AFC Wimbledon. Second club thing I find pathetic though. What the fuck are you talking about, I dont have a London club. Get your facts right before you start calling me a cunt. Edit - apologies Stevie I thought you were referring to me! I don't see whats wrong with looking out for a local team though when you live outside Newcastle. I think a lot of people who live outside Newcastle would understand that, particularly when its a small club like Walsall

  7. I hate the Villa, most of my mates support them. Would even like to see Man U beat them in the final. Walsall are my Midlands team
  8. I will avoid resorting to personal insults, which you seem to use every time you respond to one of my posts. I've made my point and I have to say that many of the Newcastle fans I speak to at away games agree with me. It will be interesting to see next season and in future seasons how many people on here want us to compete at full strength in the cup competitions or whether the usual arguments about other priorities, (promotion, survival, consolidation) will continue. It may be many years before we are deemed by a lot of people on here to be in a suitable position to take the FA Cup seriously, and by that stage the FA Cup may be so devalued thats not worth winning in any case.
  9. The argument has got nothing to do with being a 'soopafan' as you call it so fuck knows why you mentioned that. FYI I go to plenty of Newcastle games (including Plymouth away in the 3rd round) not that I have to justify myself to soopa fan like your self Its about priorities and yours are different to mine thats all. I'm a realist as well but I want to see us compete in the Cups no matter what our position is and if that means on occasion we pick up injuries etc then so be it, thats football, thats life. Are you such a soopa fan that you think that no one who lives outside the area can comment? No. I'd say my point was pretty obvious tbh. I called you a soopafan because you were making out you were more passionate than most people on here when it came to the FA Cup. Giving the FA Cup equal priority this season would've been stupid though and that has nothing to do with me not caring about winning the thing. We disagree about priorities, thats all, whether I'm a soopafan or a shit fan has got fuck all to do with it, so there was no need to mention it. The point I was trying to make was that for me, the FA Cup should be given equal priority with the league, this year and every year no matter what our position, whereas for you and many others promotion should be the priority and no doubt for many next year survival will the priority and for some there will sadly always be a better reason to concentrate on the league than the FA Cup and if that becomes the norm, which it is rapidly becoming with most clubs, then there really won't be that much to look forward to apart from, at best, year on year survival in the Premier League. If thats what people want then fine, but not for me thanks
  10. Absolute disgrace that they allow Sky tv to change the kick off time of a game less than 3 weeks before its due to take place. As usual, no thought whatsoever for the travelling supporters

  12. Fair comments, but I suspect a lot of the people who say promotion is the priority this year, we have bigger fish to fry etc will be the same ones saying survival is the priorirty next year (if we get promoted) and so it goes on and on and the cup competitions will never be a priority which means at best all we're left with is year after year of trying to grind out results to stay in the premier league. To me the cups are special and should always be given equal priority with the league. If they continue to be devalued year on year then their won't be a great deal left to look forward to
  13. Bitterly disappointed we lost today, I don't normally moan about the ref but today was one of the worst refs Ive seen for years. There must have been 4,000 toon fans today most who care passionately about the FA Cup (unlike the majority of people on here and Newcastle online). At least we played a strong team and went out with our pride intact rather than playing a reserve team and going out with a whimper.
  14. Anyone going to this game? Anyone out there still interested? Anyone know how many tickets we have sold? In years gone by we would have sold all 5,000 no problem Should we play a full strengh team? I certainly hope we play a full strength team - a win here puts us through to the last 16.
  15. Kite Runner Decent film, looked and felt realistic, slightly corny near the end, but overall well worth watching
  16. I've always argued that Newcastle have the best fans in the world. Some people laugh when I say that but: Can anyone else name a club not just in England, not just in Europe but in the whole world that has not won a trophy for 40 years or a domestic trophy for 54 years but gets an average league crowd as high as we do? And for the doubters calculate an average league crowd over the last 10, 20 or even 30 years, I think we still have the highest. I would even say is there any sporting club in the world that can beat us? Possibly the Detroit Lions, certainly can't think of anyone else. Please post and let me know if you can name a football club or even a club in any sport in the world who has been as unsuccessful as us but get a higher average crowd over a period of time. There certainly isnt many if any. We are truly the marvels of modern sport
  17. Agree 100%. A lifetime scratching out a grim survival in the premier league, doing a Bolton, doesnt exactly inspire me. Lets get back into the top division and stay there, but not at the expense of the cup competitions. Strongest team in all cup competitions every time for me. I'm going to Plymouth (its only half the distance for me but still £60 on the train) and I will be well pissed off if its not a full strength team.
  18. My view would be to go for it with a full strength team this season and every season.
  19. Personally I wanted Cavendish, but I'm pleased Giggs beat Button to it. Over a hundred races without a win, switches car and suddenly he's world champion - so much for driver skill being the deciding factor.
  20. Newcastle valuing the FA cup more than the league sounds like a Sky cliche to me. Personally, I don't think it's winnable so cannot get enthusiastic about it. When's the last time a lower league team won it? Sunderland in 1973? Personally I dont think the Premier League is winnable so why get enthusiastic about getting back to it?
  21. For me and I suspect for most of the thousands of travelling Newcastle fans who follow the team away in the FA Cup, its something to take very seriously, theres nothing in football that beats an away tie with thousands of geordies there. To me and many others the FA Cup is the real deal, its not an optional extra. I think too many people have fallen for the Sky tv bullshit about the Premier League. I want to be there as much as anyone else but its not the be all and end all.
  22. And you would seriously choose that over getting back into the top flight? I don't see why its a case of choosing one or the other. But yes without doubt I would take winning the FA Cup over promotion this season. I want to see us win a trophy At the end of the day, we cannot survive as a proper football club unless we get back into the Premiership this season, to choose 90minutes of glory over the future of the club as we know it is madness. Thats why everything must be thrown at getting up there and nothing must get in the way of that aim. Distracctions such as the cups are just that, distractions which arent needed. Until we're sorted out with new owners and a proper structure then cups must go the journey, last year my worry was that it would get in the way of us stopping up, this year it gets in the way of us going back up. And if we do get promoted next year no doubt you and many others will be saying survival is the priority and so it goes on. Welcome to the world of Bolton and Blackburn, no chance of ever winning a trophy, reserve teams in every cup game, grim premier league survival year after year the only thing that matters. Not for me thanks. I want promotion and to survive in the premier league but not at the expense of everything else The FA Cup is a great competition and Newcastle have a great cup tradition - lets keep it that way
  23. And you would seriously choose that over getting back into the top flight? I don't see why its a case of choosing one or the other. But yes without doubt I would take winning the FA Cup over promotion this season. I want to see us win a trophy
  24. Why the hell not? Its a great competition and Newcastle have a great history in it I'd take the FA Cup over promotion any time whey aye! lets win a cup and resign ourselves to Championship football for another god knows how many years, thats a great idea. added to the fact that we've got as much chance of winning it as Harold Shipman has of getting an article in the Lancet. But yeah lets live the dream and watch as we progress through the rounds, losing a defender here and a striker there to injury. Then lets watch as the Toon hit Manchester for the Quarter final of the century, a giant killing attempt by little Newcastle as they go to Man U. 9-1 of Spurs Wigan would look like a closely fought match in which the home side just shaded it. Lets drop out gracefully in this round, promotion is the only concern. And next season if we do get promoted then no doubt survival will be the only concern and so it goes on. The FA Cup still means a hell of a lot to plenty of Newcastle fans, particularly the ones who will no doubt travel in numbers to Plymouth and it should be taken seriously
