  1. Would like both but if I have to choose then a cup. Dont fall for the Sky TV bullshit, the premier league is no better than the old first division, its a disgrace the way they talk about teams like Huddersfield, Burnley and Blackpool never having played in the premier league when they spent years in the top division - utter nonsense. Much as I hate Leeds its like when they won the league in 1992 its been devalued Sky are trying to rewrite football history and 1992 is year zero - its fucking bollocks. Newcastle have a great cup tradition - lets keep it going
  2. The point I was trying to make earlier Craig is that we should be going for promotion and the cups this season and both should be given equal priority. I know most people will be saying bollocks and promotion is the priority and I can understand that, but I guarantee that next season if we get promoted people will be saying survival is the priority. We will never be in a position where the argument is to give priority to a cup competitions. Whatever division we are in and whatever position we are in people will be saying the cups are not a priority. 15 or 20 years ago clubs were not playing weakened teams in the cups because they still meant something. People have been brainwashed by the sky tv bullshit - like for example when they say Burnley have never played in the Premier League, completely ignoring the fact they have a glorious history of playing in the top division. Its like football at the top level didnt exist till 1992 according to Sky tv - absolute bollocks Look at Villa, they went out of the Europa League on Thursday and unbelievably some fans were saying well at least now they can concentrate on the league. Its laughable, they can now concentrate on trying to qualify for a competition they have just been knocked out of and dont take seriously. Newcastle have a great tradition in cup competitions, lets keep it going
  3. Are you trying to be a fucking idiot or does it just come naturally? I was trying to have a reasonable debate about it, theres plenty of proper fans of newcastle and other clubs who dont see the premier league as the be all and end all - give me a cup and a day out at wembley any day. I will continue to criticise whenever a weakened team is played in any of the cups I think your above response shows who the fucking idiot is and by the look of it it comes quite naturally to you
  4. Probably not many would agree with me but I would go as far as saying that given the choice of promotion or winning the League Cup or FA Cup this season I would go for winning the League Cup or FA Cup. At the end of the day winning a cup competition is better than scraping around in the lower reaches of the premier league. Thats why I would always play the strongest possible team for all cup competitions.
  5. But thats the problem Craig, it never will be a priority for a lot of people. If we get promoted then survival will be our priority and the years will pass by and still no trophy and we will be no different in approach to the game than the Boltons of this world. This club has a great cup tradition and thats the way it should continue. Besides it didnt do Burnley much harm last season Strongest line up every time for me for the reasons stated in my earlier post
  6. I think we should be playing our strongest possible team for this game and all cup games. We should be in it to win it or at least to progress as far as possible in the competition. Its about winning trophies People who say promotion is the priority will also be saying survival is the priority next year if we do get promoted. I dont want to end up like Bolton Wanderers, a team that exists solely to scrape around for enough points each season to survive in the top division, a team who are saying to its fans that they will never ever win a trophy or even compete for one. No thanks, lets not rip off the fans, lets treat the League Cup and FA Cup and our supporters with the respect they deserve and try and win or progress in these competitions.
  7. Most of the twats causing the trouble won't be season ticket holders or football fans, just brainless cockney wankers looking for trouble. Would be nice to drop Mike Ashley in the middle of them with a Spurs shirt on
  8. I prefer Colin to Jordan. Rarely has a football person deserved a hiding as much as Jordan, every time I see him I feel the urge to go all Roberto Carlos on his head. I'm not a lover of Crystal Palace neither, when fans sing you've never won fuck all to us, well it's just ignorant, but with them it's absolutely true. In essence a shit club, so desperate for a rival they hate Brighton (50 miles away) more than any other club. If you know the georgraphy of the area, they should be the biggest club in Britain by a mile. if you go 20 miles south in any direction there, they are the nearest club, in a unique catchment area of at least 4m. Shit club, shit fans, shit ground, shit owner, lets get out of there with three points. I dont agree about shit fans. The reason they dont get bigger support despite a big catchment area will be the usual reason, like most areas a big proportion of people are glory hunters and will support the more successful London clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Manure and Liverpoool. Give some credit to the substantial amount of Palace fans who still follow their local club, it would be all too easy for them to follow a more successful London club. Palace's support isnt that bad considering they have won fuck all Palace's support is completely shit, as I said they have a unique catchment area of at least 4m through South London, Croydon, parts of Kent, the North part of East and West Sussex. They are a horrendously poorly supported club. Maybe it's because the ground is in an awful location and the road network round there is as bad as you'll find in the UK, maybe that contributes still 13000 for an opening day game is absolutely shit. You look at sides like WBA who have a smaller catchment area with more direct competition for fanbase, and they've had 16-22000 constant for 30 years + They may have a bigger catchment area than WBA but they certainly have plenty of competition for fanbase ie the other London clubs. Save your criticism for the glory hunting wankers in South East London who latch onto the successful clubs rather then the 15,000 or so Palace fans who support their local club South East London? You have a dedicated 13000 Millwall support watching 3rd tier football, and maybe double that who can't get in due to the ID measures put in place, on top of a dormant fanbase of maybe 100,000. You also have Charlton who have been getting 20-26000 for years, and they're only 3 miles apart. Crystal Palace have all of South London and beyond to themselves, there's not a club around them for 8 miles, in Europe's biggest connurbation, their support is shocking. The point I'm trying to make Stevie is that although the support for Palace may be shocking in your opinion(and Millwall who in fact regularly get less than 10k, and Lincoln and Barnsley and Walsall and dozens of other teams with sizeable catchment areas) the reason is because too many people in those areas choose to latch onto Man U, Liverpool and other more successful teams. I would rather slag off those wankers than the loyal fans who choose to turn up and watch their local team be it Palace, Wigan, Scunthorpe, Barnet or whoever

  11. Radio 5 are reporting this morning that Ashley may take the club back off the market and if he does he may appoint O'leary as Manager. No sources to back it up but thats what they are reporting
  12. Unless there is a sale soon to wealthy backers with the right intentions, I really think we are fucked big time, its starting to sink in that its unlikely we will be challenging for honours in the next 10 years or more, we may well languish in this division or worse for years to come. Even if we do get promotion to the premier league it will be survival at best the following season and beyond. Its hard to believe how the optimism surrounding the club after the 1 1 draw at Old Trafford less than 12 months ago has changed to this Thanks Ashley you Cunt
  13. Obviously going to this one - its the nearest game for me this season. Anyone think its slightly worrying that our allocation for this game hasn't sold out yet?
  14. Keegan - to me he represents so much thats good about football
  15. This is my worst fear and if the club isn't sold soon I think it may well happen. This cunt really coudn't have done a better job of destroying our club if he tried. I keep thinking he's a clown but I am honestly starting to wonder if he is deliberately running the club into the ground
  16. Don't know if I'm the only one thinking this, but the longer this drags on without the club being sold, the more I fear the possibility that Ashley will put us into administration. The club owes him £100 million in the form of a loan, for which there is no evidence that he intends to write off and I understand theres also an overdraft of 30 million and counting. The value of the club must be falling and the level of debt rising with each passing week and yet still he doesnt sell. Each month without a sale presumably means another 5 or 6 million paid out on player wages alone. Is Ashley paying this or is it added to the overdraft? We have I think 12 players tied into contracts of £50,000 or more, most of whom we will only get rid of if we continue to pay a percentage of their wages. If the club goes into administration could that be a way of making these expensive player contracts null and void, (in other words we are no longer legally bound to pay them)? At what point will it be in Ashleys interests to put the club into administration? Can someone who knows a lot more about finances than I do please reassure me and tell me my fears are completely unfounded?
  17. Well done to everyone involved and thanks for all the hard work
  18. I would welcome Keegan back with open arms. His time here as a player and manager were the most exciting I have ever seen and am ever likely to see. Attacking football, entertaining football, almost winning the premier league, beating Man U 5 0, it was fantastic. I actually thought he was turning it round second time as manager, results and the football were improving. I felt we were at the start of another great adventure. I can understand why some people want to make a fresh start, but I can't understand why some people, particularly on Newcastle online, feel the need to slag him off and make personal insults against someone who has done so much for the club.
  19. Yes and we all know how that went. He was quite a good manager with Fulham to be fair, at least initially. He talks a lot of sense in that article and draws attention to our perilous predicament now. Some people (not you in particular Tom) seem to revel in having a go at the guy for fuck knows what reason. The level of abuse is totally uncalled for imo. I agree with you about the article and the fact he was quite a good manager. I remember him bringing Fulham up to St James and beating us 4 1 back in the early 80's. Fulham were applauded off the pitch by the newcastle fans at the end of the game
  20. It gets more depressing with each passing day. I honestly think this clueless bastard could take us into League 1 the way things are going. Not only has he not got the slightest clue but he doesnt give a fuck about the club or the fans either. Its hard to believe that last August I was standing about 3 yards away from him at Coventry at half time and was feeling optimistic about the future! This £100 million loan, has he actually said he intends to write it off or is that just speculation?
  21. Money grabbing hypocritical twat I think villa will struggle to finish in the top 6 next season. Still at least they can look forward to the Europa Cup. If MON wants anyone to turn up at all for those games he needs to come out and say they are gonna take it seriously. IMO they should be kicked out of the competition for fielding a reserve team at Moscow, particularly after they got almost a full house under false pretenses for the first leg. Fucking disgrace
  22. I was wondering about this £100 million "loan" as well Mark - its all quite worrying

  23. Well done Mike, now Fuckoff before you do any further damage
