  1. ta mate. Molyneux [?] is a ground I've never been to, so looking forward to it. Staying overnight, 8 of us in 2 cars. A travelodge would only be about a tenner a head, basic but more comfortable
  2. ... Can't see the Kindle for anything other that a craze tbh. Well that's plainly nonsense. Agreed, best purchase I've made in a long time is my Kindle.
  3. Sometimes, something can be better than the sum of it's parts
  4. And we were then. Seriously, who other than Man U, City, Chelsea aren't these days (and maybe Arsenal, although there are signs they're heading to also-ran-ville as they are losing their best players to their "rivals", in the "approaching last year of contract" scenario, sounds awfully familiar). As for then 25,000 can you quantify/back that up ??? In another thread, I can't recall exactly which one, I believe our realistic "benchmark" appeared widely accepted as being Spurs (notwithstanding their bright-lights London advantage). Given our operating model (that can never work long term, so I keep reading) has been their operating model for years and years, what over and above competing with Spurs is our "realistic" ambition in your opinion? Before the 2006/7 season, we had one game at the enlarged SJP with an attendance under 50,000 (Leicester iirc). During the 2006/7 season the attendance fell to 47-48k on a regular basis. Fact. So that's 4 to 5,000-ish below capacity then, and maybe another 2-3,000 since. Still can't add that up to 25,000 sadly. Damn those pesky facts !!

  6. He is like ! For all his many faults. If FFS/Halls had as much cash as Ashley it might have been different story and he (FFS) may have been more philanthropicthan Ashley, but history would suggest the ownership was loathe to dip it's hand in it's own pocket, so it's unlikely. remind me again, is that what you said 5 years or so ago as the reason you wanted rid of them, and predicted that Man City would be bought out by rich Arabs ? Or do you still cling to the opinion that we need a sugar daddy to act bigger than the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Stoke, QPR, West Ham etc etc ? I never had that opinion so I can hardly cling to it, if was never there, making stuff up again, it's laughable. First bit, never predicted the Arabs, and yes I was concerned (annoyed even) by the financial mismanagement, verging on corruption, which as I thought then, but I actually firmly believe now, was likely to end in tears. The ownership was also a PR disaster and the club subject to ridicule (some things haven't changed particularly). The signs are better though.

  8. Rumoured to be Manager of the Month (kiss of death!!!!!)
  9. You'd think if you had the technology to go back in time to "rebuild civilisation" you'd pick your time-slot for after the big scary, and one would suggest very dangerous, lizards had fucked off!
  10. It's just Tiote's suspensions that make it feel like he's away on international duty for a stretch every year
  11. Maybe the teams that we have played are in the lower half because we weren't kind enough to lose to them ?? We got 3 total points last year from the same fixtures. OH (edit) and good post Chez That’s fair point but it could be that they are plain shite. Two narrow home wins against teams in 17th and 18th place is nowt to shout about, and the Mackems have a psychological problem when it comes to playing NUFC. There’s far too much knee jerk drivel being spouted about our good start. Welcome as it is there is a long way to go before the reality of our transfer policy is known. It’s painful to watch opinion being blown around on the basis of a handful of random results. Thing is you can't confirm if it's an easy start until the end of the season and league positions really pan out. You can only beat (or draw with) what's in front of you. This early in the season beating someone tends to have a much larger effect on their "immediate" relative league position. Aside from the top 3-4 this league is much of a muchness IMO. Avoiding Man U, City and Chelski I suppose makes it easier than it could have been, but that's about as far as I'd go. Outside those 3 the league is very much in "any given Sunday" territory IMO.

OH (edit) and good post Chez we had 5. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...=31315&st=0 That'll larn me not to check what I read elsewhere Main point stands though.

  14. Eh? It's all around the ground isn't it? Even on that photo it's on every other pitchside hoarding - how did you miss it? The electronic one that changes all then time
  15. Really who gives a shit, best start for donkeys years, team looks better each game and it's boo hoo hoo the nasty man put a sign up
  16. Where is he losing the ball? round our box, or higher up the pitch. Tends to be deep, it's just careless stuff, simple passes that go astray in bad places, the completed pass stat is all well and good, but the one's he does give away are dangerous. Yes he was good overall, but he needs to cut out the daft mistakes. Nobody can complete 100% of their passes, he does the hard stuff then just gets carelessand it tends to be the easy one's in dangerous places he fucks up. Better second half mind, but he does have that habit.
  17. Just got back from the match. Agree with most of them apart from Jonas. He worked his bollocks off and really helped Raylor out. Never gave the ball away as well. Saylor might be worth an 8 as well. Pretty much faultless and set up a goal. Best was neat and tidy, created a goal and did superbly to get into the position to miss his 2 sitters. Tiote was immense today. Back to his best. Still gives the ball away way to much for my liking, he's had his best game today so far though. Agree on Jonas, never stops working, helped support Enrique last season helping Raylor this one, he's got a great engine, no way I'd drop him for anyone just now. Best has a really great touch if only the fucker could shoot/head, he should have had three himself. The interchange play is becomming a joy to behold, the more they play together the slicker it'll become.
  18. He is getting better each game, could be a very handy player
  19. It's not that definitive tbh possibly's a better word, be good to know the journo's source. It's a throwaway line in a down the page piece. If true, the timings interesting (clever) as we'll not know for sure until the accounts after next.
  20. The batmobindianelephant Is the African version faster ???
  21. For Parky Hodgson's record as Liverpool manager: P31 W13 D9 L9. Money spent by Hodgson as Liverpool manager: £20 million Dalglish's record as Liverpool manager: P30 W15 D6 L9 Money spent by Dalglish as Liverpool manager: £114 million
  22. How much is that, about £25m before additional per televised match fees? With a net transfer profit of £30m it’s hard to see why they’d need the money up front. Agree, it's very strange. Edit re the bold bit, it's more than that (depending on the definition of Premier League money): Last Season each club received £13.8million as the equal share of domestic TV rights and £17.9million as the equal share of overseas TV rights. Facility fees of £582,000 are paid to a club every time they play in a live TV match - with a minimum income of £5.82million even if a club has been involved in fewer than 10 live games. (from the Telegraph) All of it together is the thick end of £40 Mill
  23. From the Guardian today, beneath an article on Bolton's plight. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/se...bts-gary-cahill About us: Last month Barclays loaned Newcastle their season's Premier League monies in advance, having apparently also extended their overdraft in March That seems very strange, unless "you know who" has recouped a huge lumper, wonder where that came from !
  24. Liverpool dropped 09 to 10 £68Mill down to £62Mill despite having the third best shirt sponsorship deal in europe (Barca and Bayern being more, Man U the same) As an aside Bundesliga commercial revenues are HUGE and dwarf the PL, it really is just the TV money that makes the difference. Looking at your graph (and repointing Liverpool) the overall trend/patern is down.
  25. Howay Chez, make your mind up, £££'s or €€€'s
