I seem to remember that Shearer played as lone striker for a while when he returned (Tommasson's position was a mystery at that time and Tino was already gone) and there was a desperate need for a second man to partner Al because he was constantly marked out the game and we had almost zero supply rate (Stephen Glass and Gillespie, who was right off his form) In came Andersson and I remember being relieved. Then I saw him play. Curse you Kenny!

1. Dalglish - From what we were to what we became was painful. Just (barely) edges out: 2. Souness- Wrong choice through and through. The rot started at the end of the Robson era but he didn't help. Never been so happy to see a manager booted out. Joint 3. Allerdyce & Gullit: Allerdyce was changing us into a boring, functional team and wasn't around long enough to have an enormous impact. Gullit was neither here nor there for me, what with being rendered numb from Dalglish. His bizarre behaviour and poor results just before he went were deciding factors. 5. Roeder was never right for us and an idiot could have predicted where this was going to go. Think he's a top bloke, though.
