Aye he didn't play in 88/89 but was on the books still for 2 months. Season before he started as first choice but dislocated his shoulder in the League Cup against Blackpool. Tinnion went in goal IIRC. Kelly took over and had such a good run that Thomas never got another look in.

Aye - walked away with a bronze medal. Quite how I haven't got a fucking clue. He was a calamity and a half - I was amazed we got all but £100k back for him too! Chelsea were fucking mugs. He was a late call-up for someone injured iirc. Yep - Seaman. Shilton was first choice, Chris Woods was understudy and Seaman (still at QPR then) was 3rd choice. While I'm on it we had 4 international goalkeepers on our books that season and still finished bottom of the league: Beasant - England Wright - Northern Ireland Kelly - Republic of Ireland Thomas - Wales Thomas was away before that season. He wasn't.... played a couple of games IIRC 88/89? No chance. He was definitely still there - I remember all 4 of them being on the team photo. EDIT:

Fuck it, I'm watching it. As far as I'm concerned, we are sunk so any good that might come our way on Sunday is a bonus. I think we will blow it anyway like but I'm more or less prepared for that. I'm in Scouseland at the weekend. Supposed to be having a BBQ - have already said I'm eating and drinking indoors!

Did Beasant ever play for England? Think he did after he left us. EDIT: According to Wiki, he has two caps, both won in 1989.

Bailey went in 1986 and yes, was absolutely gash.

It could well be Ian Bogie although I'm pretty certain he was 'with mullet' back in those days. Aye that photo from the Wallsend Boys Club site proves it ain't Dave Rob.
-
..... much much worse! These pics made me shudder. To think we could have had Schmeichel for a lesser amount than this clown.

Hendrie nee chance. Am 80% thinking it's Howey, and the other kid DAVID Robinson. It's not David Rob like... My dad did some mortgage advice for him - was a tall skinny fair haired lad. He didn't he had dark spikey hair, i'm pretty sure that's him in the pic. Looked more like the other fella tbh... but thinner.
-
If anyone can get hold of the 1988/89 squad photo (it had the kids in the back row and sat at the front wearing the yellow & green striped away kit) we've be able to sort this one out straight away. I'm sure I saw on t'internet recently too but I can't find it now

Could be Archie Gourlay like... And is that Gary Brazil next to Davey Mc?
-
It's not John Hendrie is it?
-
I'm pretty certain it isn't Howey - looks nowt like him IMO. Aside from anything else, he never played in the same side as Mirandinha (Howey made his debut in the last game of 88/89 at which point Mira was back on Rio beach).

More media bullshit. Need to be concentrating on Sunday and Sunday alone at the moment - tell these fuckers if they have any interest in the club, they'll leave us alone until we know what league we'll be playing in.

Ashley to put whole first team squad up for sale (again)

Has the crazy fucker not thinned the squad out enough? Proving more and more every day that he's money rather than success orientated. -
Maybe's I'm old skool but I miss the old Gallowgate end. The feeling you got when you were stood on there and we scored a late winner at the end was like no other I've ever experienced in football. Awesome I miss it too. There's a goal against Wistam (iirc) in our promotion season dvd. Forget the goal, just look at the Gallowgate's immediate reaction - fuckin' majestic. It sums it all up. Hoopers debut iirc Hooper signed for us after promotion. Goals that stick in my mind is obviously Kelly's against Portsmouth but also Mark McGhee's in the last minute when we beat Leicester 5-4. The reaction in the gallowgate was awesome. Fast forward to 3:11 in this clip of 2J's and keep your eyes on the Gallowgate. Loved it!

He's reportedly distraught that the kid isn't his... Fucking hell, he should be relieved!
-
Yup, the penny's dropped for me on that one now Boro have to go because if they don't, we do!
-
Davie Mac, Mirandinha, and Darren Jackson, and the other one oh dear, it could be a very very young Steve Howey, not 100% though. It's not Anth Lormor is it? BTW I'm certain that's not Jacko. Have a feeling it was one of the kids from the relegation season (wore the away strip on the team photo that season). Graeme somebody?
