One of the few players who played his heart out during the final games of the season - and despite playing in completely the wrong position. I hope he is retained - the likes of him we need, the likes of Barton, Jonas, Owen & Sideshow Bob please just fuck off...

More bothered about our demise than their own survival.. Speaks volumes.

Stan Collymore - hates Newcastle and doesn't hold back in saying so. Every 'expert' has said that Shearer being given time to build a side worthy of returning to the Premiership is our one hope of not going the way of Leeds, Forest, Southampton, Sheff Wed. etc. Where the hell does he think we'll end up with the likes of Kinnear?

As ever, as spot on as they always are at TF. They hit the nail on the head when they said the 2-0 leads at home to Wigan and Stoke that we allowed to become draws in the last minute cost us our Premiership lives. That said, had we survived, we'd have only delayed the inevitable. I have no doubt that if we had somehow scraped a point yesterday Ashley, Llambias and co. would have viewed it as a major success. This club surviving relegation a major success? Fuck me! Shearer is the only sane man employed by the club. His press conference yesterday was honest, heartfelt and the words of a fan first, manager second. He alluded himself a couple times to the fact that he probably was saying more than he should. I don't think he did but I bet Mike didn't like hearing it.... It's going to be an interesting summer, that's for sure.

Must be a right bastard to have to move 3 floors for the tuck shop, eh Scott?

He was playing for Bradford on that fateful day I think. Think he was actually - didn't he race into the stand to get his family out or something. As for Dillon - he almost did. Right old barney in the gallowgate penalty box saw both of them off for an early bath.

Surely ManUre second team will beat Hull, No?

I'll be drinking more than water like.... -
I'm not too sure about his colour choices mind...

Aye it's Peter Jackson on the right. Quality centre half and tried to chin Kevin Dillon (before he signed for us)

Slightly different scenario though Stevie. Bradford happened primarily to a lack of funds. The ultimate tragedy of it all was that at the back of the stadium was a who load of steel forming that they were going to use to replace the wooden roof - they only had it as a result of the funds earned by promotion that they were celebrating that same day. Hillsborough was primarily due to ignorance on many levels. The funding was there to prevent it. And the calls for justice are because those that were responsible will still not hold their hands up and say so.

How you getting on with those gospels?

Presented with the league trophy before the game apparently? The speed it takes hold is terrifying.. Don't really want to watch it again but I remember reports from the time estimating it was quicker than you could have ran away from it. I also remember the bloke collapsed onto the pitch in flames. Can't remember if he made it or not. Also, (again, if my memory serves my well) many people died under the stand, next to emergency exits which were locked to prevent people getting in without paying. All caused, probably, by a discarded tab igniting rubbish which had built up under the stand. Aye all spot on Alex. Fella died I think Anyway, this is our old stand - you can see the drop between the stand and the paddocks. we'd never have stood a chance!

I'd seen loads of photos of what happened at Bradford but up until now, I never realised a video clip of the event existed. When you look at the speed that stand went up in flames, it's merciful that the stand extended down to pitch level so that fans could quickly escape. When you consider our wooden stand (the old West Stand) had at least a 20ft drop into the west paddocks, I don't even what to think what the result would have been if it had happened at SJP. Tragic - RIP

I think it could well be Andy Thomas like....

I will put you across my knee and give you a smack if you do that I think I'll upgrade to smack too then. Can we all form an orderly queue?

Newcastle defender Bassong stuns Toon: If we go down, I'm off
Craig replied to Craig's topic in Newcastle Forum
He says he's ambitious and his ambitions are not to play in the championship. I'd hope that could be said of any player who plays in the Premiership tbh. It's supposition on the part of the reporter. -
I'll be amazed if we come out of this on Sunday evening still as a Premiership club. How am I feeling about it? Well I'm applying the 'expect fuck all and you won't be disappointed' attitude. I've suffered relegation before therefore I think it'll be a bit easier for me to take than those of you who haven't. Still rips your heart out though.

Nah mines leased through work... so can't really help you I'm afraid Paddy - all comes out via tax.

Oh so you're blaming the man who you've asked to smack my arse now are you? He came clean eventually. And where's my apology?
-
Another benefit of a lock down is once somebody loses their account, it's impossible to get a new one till the administration see fit Which reminds me... must remember to delete a certain person's alter-egos
