Well, I'm surprised you're being so thoughtful on their behalf! If it wasn't football, I'd agree with you, but Villa are directly competing with us for a European spot and the Worthington Cup.

he's got potential but i see him playing inside in the future. at the moment his lack of pace and poor crossing is too poor for a wide man. 27236 Yup, I think he sees himself as a central midfieder as well. He does work hard when he's on the flanks. He really needs a lot of work though to become the finished article-whatever position it's in. Hopefully this move will benefit all 3 parties (Villa, NUFC and Milly). 27240 Why do you hope it benefits Villa?

Really? I thought that was Ketsbaia's Mobile clicky 27215 We share apostrophes from time to time.

Sense of humour failure? You really are very dull if you can't accept that was a good gag. 27208 You're like a kid with a box of matches.................. 27211 You're like a kid without a box of matches........

Aww! If I was more evil, I'd milk it. FFS, though you've given me a hard time for not much more than sticking up for Souness and Shepherd and having a small flounce. You can either accept that I'm part of the forum, or look like a sourpuss. 27198 Actually I've given you a 'hard time' for blaming the fans for the plight of the club, using alter egos and behaving like an attention seeking primadonna with your (sadly untrue) 'I'm leaving..' threads. So there 27207 Show me where I blamed the fans for the plight of the club. I said it was the supposed fans who don't back the team and don't make any noise at the matches. I admitted I acted like a twat, but I'm certainly not the only one here. Now get off my case.

are you real? ahem essien ahem 27050 You can understand him missing the Essien move though, it's not like it was a high profile transfer or anything. 27086 And the other £18m? BTW, You're ace! 27100 UEFA run a tournament called the Champions League, you may have heard of it. Lyon have done quite well in it in recent years and apparently it generates a bit of cash. How's that? 27123 But they have a very big debt from the 80's as a result of stadium overspend. They were also the target of a rather large UEFA inquiry after some less than transparent transfer dealings in the mid 90's. I had heard that the Essien money would only just keep them out of serious shit, hence my question! 27128 If you'd said that originally, I might have believed it wasn't the result of a quick bit of research on t'internet. 27136 HAHAHA. I made it up. Hoo hoo hoo hee hee!! HA HA HA!. Sorry dude, I never thought you'd fall for it!!!! Why can't we just be friends!?

Just what I was thinking. 27049 Just what you did. Oh, so did I. BTW, nice unprovoked attack. 27106 I just thought it was a bit unneccessary to re-quote the whole original post, as did Rob evidently. You're a bit touchy today aren't you? Can we expect another 'Goodbye Cruel World' type thread or are they reserved for your alter-ego? 27115 I'm in a super mood today actually! I have tickets for the cricket at the Oval on Thursday, the sun is shining, and Michael Owen is a Newcastle player!

Where do Lyon get their money? Do they have a rich chairman?

Harper is worse than 'woefully bad' 26668 I used to listen to TalkSport...it gets boring. The incident which finally made me stop listening was when Rooney had scored a hat-trick on his European debut for ManU. I can't remember where (maybe Turkey) but some terrorist bombs had gone off near an embassy I think. Not sure of a death toll or casualties, but Alan Brazil's link back after the news was "and Rooney delivered 3 bombs of his own last night". Wanker.

Football Financial Analyst says NUFC doing a Leeds

Milner scored!? -
No, that was the manager, remember!? I did leave yesterday, I said I'm off. I'd spent all day wasting my time argueing and I had to try and get some work done.

Ginola: Emre, Parker, Solano Ferdinand: Owen, Luque Barton: I'm with you

Owen. He keeps the profile of the club high as well as being a fantastic player. After that: Parker

I can't remember a better period for bringing in new players in one go. Can anyone think of a better set of transfers?

As I read this morning that he'd signed I couldn't help thinking his sale was the first major sign for me that Bobby was losing it. His reasons were shite and the crap about "We have players who can play there" seemed out of step with his previously excellent crack. The post-match bullshit seemed to appear more and more after that. 26023 I agree. He started losing the support from this moment. What before was gospel became drivel. His post match interviews weren't funny any more and started to be embarrassing. And playing Bowyer in Nobby's position just topped it for me... 26024 It was the out-right lies that were most bothersome. His constant insistance that it was Nobby who wanted to leave, when you could see in his eyes that he didn't even believe that himself. He also insisted that we had more than enough replacements for the right-wing in Kieron "you ruined my career by playing me on the right-wing" Dyer, Jermaine "I need to play in the centre" Jenas, Lee "I'm admittedly shit on the right-wing and think Nobby should be playing there" Bowyer and Darren "Platini" Ambrose. Last night, something actually occurred to me about the deal, though. We all know that Robson was wanting to be pro-active in resolving the Shearer "situation" (tired legs that need resting, imminent retirement, replacements needed) - an admirable stance, in my view -, and had wanted to accept an offer from Liverpool to move the club on - whether that was a good idea or not was debatable, of course, but later problems that saw him sacked may've vindicated his view. The thing about Robson is that he could be quite canny in getting his way, sometimes, and I've thought to myself - did Robson get rid of Shearer's main supply man to try and aid his arguement? Was he attempting, ultimately unsuccessfully, to change our style of play and leave Shearer obsolete? Probably not. It was brain-food for a minute or two, though. 26268 Not the stupidest theory I've ever heard.
-
I'm not going to give Souness that much credit yet tbh. It doesn't take a genius to work out that Michael Owen is talented, we were all aware of how good Parker was. Souness didn't provide the money, and from what I can tell, it was Shearer that got most the players here. Our results have still been f*****g terrible over the last year - that is what Souness is employed for - to get results. Now he has his team, he has no excuses. If the results don't come (at least to get us back to where we were) then he has to go, simple as that. There is absolutely nothing unfair about it either, I really don't see how anyone can say he has been badly treated. I look forward with interest to Fulham (which unfortunately I'm going to miss). 26262 We agree. All that we differ on is how much slack we are prepared to give him. I say the season, you say a few games. From yesterday's body language though, I don't think he's got long. He looked like a rabbit in the headlights and Owen virtually blanked him.

You've got my vote! Interesting how things are pointing to Shearer though...... Not sure what I think about that. Vialli and Gullit seemed to hit the ground running at Chelsea, but John Barnes was terrible
