Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll
Asprilla replied to DesperateDannyB's topic in Newcastle Forum
Totally agree. Impossible to knock back £37m for him. It's 2/5ths of our turnover. We won't go down. You're deluded if you think we're safe. £35m+ is all well and good but ultimately worthless if we lose that sort of money by dropping down a league again. Nee chance you'll go down. WBA Wigan Wolves WHU All shit and miles worse off than you. You're just listing clubs that start with a W. -
Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

I'd love that to be true, but sadly i've rated him for a long time, though didn't see this meteoric a rise, and i think he will go on to do the business for years to come, hope not though! Yep. -
To take the heat of Ashley in return for an obscene amount of money?
-
Agreed. In that case, fuck off you inbred northern cunt.

Don't do it! If I was still smoking Id be on my second packet of twenty by now. Me too. 7 years off those stupid things....
-
They've seemingly got more ambition than us for one thing!

Don't do it!

Fucking smiley. Can't we just make it or something?!

I really don't think that's true. A local player always has that extra something which fans can identify with. None of your examples were home grown. Not only that but it spells out to everyone else that you're a selling club. A club that are a stepping stone to somewhere else. It'll cost a lot more than £35m in the long run IMO. Liverpool were below us for most of this season. Let's take a bet on where we are compared to them a) next year in five years time. I don't think you'd fancy your chances on betting we'll be above them...

This, this, this, this, this and this.

Selling Milner for 12m was one thing. Even Given for £6m. Selling the most exciting player we've produced since Shearer was young.... £35m isn't good business, it's terrible business. First you have to find someone decent to replace him which is easier said than done. Then you have the fact that nobody can capture the imagination like a local lad made good. It's insanity to even think of selling him.

It's not like the Sun wouldn't know if that ringpiece Redknapp had made an offer, with all his mates in the media. I wouldn't be surprised if it's true, and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets accepted. Then it's up to Carroll, and from a career perspective it's a bit of a no-brainer. All this sadly. If we stay up and Carroll stays, we're going to need to have a fantastic summer window because frankly, a lot of clubs manage for one season after promotion. If Ashley doesn't show the ambition then Carroll will (rightly) walk. -
Andy Gray sacked by Sky over sexism row

I love that film. -
Is it cos he is gay? Whenever he has played he's looked no worse than Ranger/Best. Agreed. Very mysterious saga all in all.

That's what I said when my Dad said it was a good idea. true, but how many stadiums will be nowhere near full if not already ? Vicious circle isn't it ? Watch on TV in comfort by preference/can't afford tickets etc ? I don't think telly coverage has that much impact to be honest. We got the same crowd in for Blackburn as we did for Stoke which was on telly. In fact there was more at Stoke. It would affect normal clubs though. -
If Pardew's 'hardline' stance makes him knuckle down then you have to say fair play and commend Pardew for that because the lad's got a bit about him but is nowhere near the finished article. He's obviously a big shot around his mates but he's nothing in football terms yet. He needs to keep better company!
