I really don't think that's true. A local player always has that extra something which fans can identify with. None of your examples were home grown. Not only that but it spells out to everyone else that you're a selling club. A club that are a stepping stone to somewhere else. It'll cost a lot more than £35m in the long run IMO. Watch on TV in comfort by preference/can't afford tickets etc ? I don't think telly coverage has that much impact to be honest. We got the same crowd in for Blackburn as we did for Stoke which was on telly. In fact there was more at Stoke. It would affect normal clubs though.
