I was as appalled as everyone else at how the first 2-3 years of Ashley's ownership went....but after relegation we came straight back up and have a decent squad with a bit of team spirit and a stable manager. We're not throwing borrowed money away on shit players and not giving stupid long term contracts to players who are well past their sell by dates. We'll obviously see what happens next but you can't really fault the business we've done this last transfer window.

However it's come about he's doing an excellent job. If the fans can keep their cool if he has a blip I could see him really giving us some stability over the next few years. Very happy with him staying.

Why tie up a declining 30 year old to a big money long term deal if you can get him for nothing and put him in the position of playing for his future errr because as soon as he actually looks any good someone will take him off us? errr how long has he realistically got left? If he plays well and we make a move for him, and if he doesn't want to move here and would prefer the move elsewhere, then I'd be happy with that. It will be interesting to see your comments when players such as Enrique move on, because the club doesn't show them the ambiton to make them want to stay. I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually think I'd prefer it if he stayed. He's never going to be good enough for a starting place but he's not THAT bad. It would sort of seem wrong to see him lumbering around in another team's strip.
