  1. From what little I've seen of Williamson he's the real deal too. Calm on the ball like Woodgate was.
  2. If he does a decent job I'm in no doubt he'll be Redknapp's successor. Good shout unfortunately.
  3. A lack of team spirit has cost us dearly for several years now. Having some joker turn up in a helicopter and then fuck off to feed his horses earning 5 or 10 times more than you can't help. The team spirit is what gives me optimism for this season. Seeing players genuinely congratulating whoever scores tells a story. I remember times when it barely seemed to register. However it's come about, I always fancy us not to drop our heads if we go behind and that's due to getting rid of the prima donnas (although time will tell if we've just signed another one!) and having a manager who can work within the parameters that Ashley is imposing.
  4. whats being a newcastle fan from newcastle or being a newcastle fan not from newcastle got to do with whether you appreciate keegan? It doesn't really, but it did seem that a lot of the patter slagging Keegan off was from young foreign idiots who got their understanding of Keegan from reading papers and believing the Keegan the quitter quits again line that was being peddled. Which is where Stevie is coming from. I mean I don't get annoyed about stuff I read on message boards, but some of the stuff completely dismissing Keegan from know nowt 20 year olds from fucking Sweden or Singapore was pretty infuriating. Some from Leeds, Histon, fuckin Chester Le Street, Cramlington and fuckin South Shields iirc. I couldn't care less about what the foreign cunts think, but when it's people from the NE oh dear. I don't remember the opposition, u mite Stevie, but we beat them 2-0 it was early nineties and Steve Howey was a striker and scored both from crosses from Alan Thompson, I think Steve Watson got a game and that young cm from gateshead - Kevin Scott was captain and we were utter shite and doomed for relegation but that was a highlight of the season so far - if you didn't know the low point that we had reached and the inevitable abyss into which we were about to fall then you cannot appreciate the brilliance of Keegans managerial ability and Halls financial nouse. I think I'll stay out of this !!!!
  5. I think so. There was a French lad on here the other day but Stevie scared him off.
  6. france eh? well you would think that wouldnt you! I don't see what the problem is....Keegan's win stats are nothing on Hughton's.
  7. Everyone of them is a cunt, its all clueless younguns though to be fair, kids under 25 who frequent Newcastle Online, and people not from this area. That's not being patronising its a fuckin fact. What they'll never get is KK changed our club like not one other person on earth could, he gave us self belief, and confidence, he raised the stature of the club 10 fold in not even 2 years. You get some younger lads who understand all this because as entwined in the club as what we are, some of them though, their views come just short of deserving a slap imo. ffs I dunno, I'm kind of with Stevie on this one. I'm not actually from the area (grew up on Co. Durham/N. Yorks border) but I was living in Newcastle 93-98. One of the things I always tell people about is the buzz around the city during those Keegan years. I reckon if you're not from the area, or at least experienced that buzz then it's hard to appreciate the lift that Keegan gave to the whole area. It's ridiculous to attribute everything that was good during that time with Keegan though and as I've already stated, I was like a kid again when he came back last time. Nobody in football can get me that excited about the game. He came at the right time and had money to spend. The club had been taken over by people with ambition. It was a lot of things coming together, including the tidal wave of new money and interest that SKY brought with it. Much as I love the Beatles, there's no one single thing or person that made them brilliant. Same with us in the early 90s.
  8. It came out like a dig at people who've criticised KK in anyway but (as I've tried to explain above) it wasn't meant to be. I know man, we've had this discussion before and tbh I've come around more to your way of thinking about the last Keegan exit. I just think Keegan's strengths are ultimately his flaws too. I bet nobody in the whole world thinks you're one though.
  9. Don't agree tbh. How's that different to Leazes' defending of the Shepherd years even though they clearly made some mistakes? I'll always rank Keegan as my favourite manager we've had in my lifetime although arguably Robson was a better one in 96/97.
  10. I know, possibly because of my age at the time as well like, but that seems like a lot longer than 4 years. When you consider that 4 years ago is when we signed Sibierski on deadline day which doesn't seem that long ago. Very true.
  11. "We fondue the Defendant: not guilty" Ooof. Nearly as bad as the 03/04 summer window when we fucked up qualifying for the Champions League by only signing Bowyer on a free. Freddie banked on us being in the CL and everything fell apart shortly after.... *tick tick tick tick* we signed Woodgate in the January, in advance of the window and the summer budget. Speculate to accumulate and all of that. Who thinks buying such a player is a bad move, or that we shouldn't have spent money "we didn't have". That's all I'm saying. It speaks for itself. I'm pulling your leg Leazes. If I was expecting the worst then God knows what YOU must have been expecting! We kept hold of Enrique which I'm extremely pleased about and didn't think we'd sign a player like Ben Arfa....all while not wasting the club's money on stupidly high wage, long term contracts.

  13. Fair enough but I bet none of them think they're the shit one who should give way.
  14. Mickey Mouser I work with reckons that's the rumour like. so does SSN. Is it just me or is sky desperately trying to big up deadline day? ffs its not that interesting, there is no interesting signings. SKY have been bigging things up from 1992, Kevin, when you were pissing and shitting yourself, gurgling to yourself, trying to bring your wind up and crying for your milk. :icon_lol: :icon_lol:
  15. Not saying he hasn't played well since btw....
  16. Regarding Rooney....I thought he was at his peak around 2003/4. I thought that at the time too. Everyone was saying he can only get better but that's rubbish IMO. So many players hit their peak at a young age rather than 26/7. Especially strikers. Same with Owen.
  17. He means to have him, even if it must be burglary. Love that scene. Yep...."burglary"....
  18. And most of his team too apparently. Tbf, the TV industry's based in London and run by Jewish people!
  19. Methinks the lady doth protest too much! He does, no doubt about it. I didn't know he got one of the manager of the year awards last year, (football writers?). I find that unbelievable if true, spends a bit of money and scrapes 4th place, just goes to show how much 'Arry has the media wrapped around his finger. I read a piece in some papers column the other day and the writer must have typed it with one hand whilst stroking himself, it was all about how Spurs were giants and should be grateful for the 'prudent' way they've done business and how the stadium they're going to build will packed to the rafters and the money will come flowing in. It was nauseous reading but showed the esteem they're held in by loads of the press. I do think he's a good manager but I'm still glad he didn't come here.
