I can't disagree more we have been nowhere near creating with this long ball shite. Every time it gets humped it comes straight down our throat 5 seconds later. I didn't say it was working great i said it will generate a chance in europe as the defences don't like it. And i also wouldn't be playing it all the time myself as i don't like long ball football, its something to throw up every now and then combined with us actually passing the ball around acurately first!
-
Be nice if we could string 1 pass together at some point! Not one decent final ball and everyone in our half looks like they've gone to sleep everytime they attack us! That said for the optimists they have the same back 4 from the first leg that was as bad as anything we're doing tonight if we actually start to play and it may not be pretty but like Shearer/Bellamy in europe balls up to Sib to flick on for Martins will generate a chance at some point as their defence doesn't look happy with it at all.

It wasn't the first one i got, but it was the worst!!! A Finger of Papa Lazaru is Just Enough to Give Your Kids a Treat

Be stupid to sell Dyer, he's one of the most important players we have now, whether people are happy with that or not! We've finally got him fit, because if you look at it, since this return he has not picked up a genuine injury from playing. He got poked in the eye and cut his leg open, but he hasn't picked up hamstring and muscle injuries which is agreat sign.

Well, we haven't done the "biggest club argument" for a while. Firstly one day people will learn to separate the word size from the word success, they are two completely differen things and should be treat as such by anyone with a basic grasp of English. Size relates funnilly enough to size, ie. of attendances, turnover, money spent on players, and whatever other criteria you'd care to add. The argument could come from when you begin your assessment, is it last 5 years, 10, 20 or forever! Newcastle are bigger than Spurs and have been for quite a while, we are not and sadly i don't think will ever be more successful as i don't ever see us winning a trophy. However in terms of league position, playing in europe and other non trophy based guides to success we have been ahead of them for a good while now, and only the wankers in the cockney media who permanently bum spurs would struggle to grasp that concept. The mackems are currently a smaller club than Spurs, but potentially bigger, thats clear. If the mackems and Spurs had a completely even playing field in terms of success, playing to the same standard in the top flight, same money available to spend then the mackems would have the bigger crowds home and away. However thet don't have an equal playign field and currently Spurs are bigger.
-
The mackems as usual are getting overexcited and talking utter bollocks about our squad relative to theirs. But i do think Keane looks a damn site better than their previous managers and Quinn will back him from the start if they get up giving them a good chance of doing alright. However they aren't even up yet and whilst i think they might sneak second place, its not that easy and they could end up knocked out in the play offs putting them back right when the big TV money is being thrown around in the prem.

On the other hand - and sticking to the topic - I think Jol shouldn't have taken off Berbatov who was always keeping Chelsea busy up front and involved in nearly everything from Spurs... Agree, unless he was injured or carrying a slight knock then it was a mistake to take him off.

Perhaps a lesson here for Roeder, this is the reason the top managers like Jose, Fergie and Wenger frequently use subs when things aren't working to actually earn their money and attempt to change it. Contrast it with Roeder sitting on hid arse watching about 75-80 mins of shite against the smogs before he felt a change was required!

Been a good game and funny to see the Spurs goal come from cheating little prick Robben being brushed off the ball like a litte girl and whinging for a freekick whilst Spurs went and scored. If he wasn't such a tart he'd have stood up to the shoulder charge instead of hitting the deck crying and his team wouldn't have conceded the goal.
-
The Wenger/Fergie style "mindgames" are beginning already!
-
Yeah we'll aim to start from the 25th and make it a regular sunday game. So people can put their name down here and we'll take it from there. I'm sure once we see how many we have we can get enough extras from friends etc. if there is any short fall to make up.
-
You quite sure about that?? I don't think Isegrim will be too chuffed if Gemmill tries to amputate his leg again! Mind you if we had rules, there's no way in hell Neil would have got on court with his choice of footwear.... He looked like he'd been out rambling, got lost, and wandered into a football match. He looked like he'd just finished a shift down the mines and not had chance to change them tbh... Think youselves lucky i wasn't fit enough to catch anyoen and tackle them in those boots! And needless to say they won't be making a return in the upcoming 5-a-sides!!!
-
Considering Carr is patently not fit in any way and vastly overweight and that in his natural position of RB he is abysmal, if he is played at LB i think that would be a sackable offence such is the level of stupidity!!!
-
I've had plenty of games with and without the rule and like you say, when its for fun, either works. I'm happy as long as the worthless head height rule goes! I've had games where it was gettign stoped continually for head height, many times when it was at most chest height and it got annoying. -insert jokes about my height here-
-
I'm afraid i think that probably rules you out of playing!
-
More people means that there will be more cash contributed, so we could book longer time without worry. Or seven/8 a side is possible on the bigger outdoor pitches. Yeah, see if people prefer the idea of booking 5-a-side longer, or risk testing the fitness on a 7/8-a-side pitch!
-
Just regular sundays games, if people get fit thats a bonus for them! But it wouldn't be the same as last time if people were actually fit!
-
Certianly plenty of interest in this! If we do end up with too many people for just 5 vs 5 in the summer, people suggested a tournament, but if we only have the court for an hour that won't mean that much time actually playing? Though we could try for 2 hours, or 2 courts for 1 hour perhaps? And seems we may have enough for sundays as well! And if we're short i might be able to get 1 or 2 players.
-
That would be Mother's Day and more importantly the day after St Patricks day, so anyone having a day on the Guiness is likely to be about as much use as Stephen Carr. Two very good points. May be looking at the week after that then!
-
So who do we actually have that wants a game on a sunday? From what Dave said about not playing this sunday then i guess we're aiming at a week on sunday?
-
Be fair, before he was a famous TV chef and fronted Kitchen Nightmares, he was a footballer
-
Have you seen the state of the others? Harsh but fair! But is this you volunteering to play one sunday and show the rest of us how its done?
-
Indeed we did! We got as far as me, you, Matt and Jonny2J agreeing to play and were then going to use the board to find any other people who fancy a game on a sunday, or sundays if we can get the numbers. So if anyone does fancy a game, post here or PM SLP as he's chief organiser! Like the Previous toontastic footy its just a bit of a laugh and doesn't require any level of skill or fitness

Sorry to hear that, I've slipped on the floor more than once in the academy. Also once somebody either fell or was pushed and went flying into me and smacked into my knee, so i was sat in a nightclub at about 2:00 am with my foot up on a second stool until i could get up and walk on it!
