  1. I liked Acuna as well. Nobody is saying he was a world beater but he came in, worked his arse off, got stuck in, was neat and tidy with his passing and chipped in with his share of goals as well.
  2. Yes, after that cunt i would have been ecstatic to turn up the match and see anyone or anything manage us, the fact that Shearer+Roeder (and its deliberate i've put Shearer first based on what i've seen of Roeder on his own!) did well was always going to give Fat Fred the easy option of using Roeder as a cheap option.
  3. I don't think i've seen a worse season of crossing from Newcastle and that is saying something, and when you combine it with easilly one of the worst seasons of set pieces both as passes and shots its no wonder we're struggling for goals when we create next to nothign from through balls and quick passing football either!
  4. I agree, the abuse he gets is getting stupid, but toon fans aren't happy unless they have a target and since Shola's out with injury somebody had to get it. He always gives everything which is perhaps more than some players can say. And the pirrouette thing, obviously its annoying but there are occasions he does it when its right that he turns from say the left where there is fuck all to pass to and goes right, other times it is uneccesary. And i might add he wouldn't be in my team at the moment, but i certainly don't think he deserves all the hate he gets, but thats the way it is at St. james these days.
  5. Hey, we've got to pay the bills you know!
  6. "LeazesMag opened the match program and looked down in awe at the photograph of Freddie Shepherd, he instantly felt a stiring between his legs, the chubby face and the slightly gingerish comb-over was almost too much to resist.....it was the 5th best wank he'd ever had and much better than wanking over somebody like Doug Ellis" I've added the end bit!
  7. Haven't seen them myself but anyone you talk to who has, says if you're a fan of Pink Floyd you should go see them.
  8. I read that as Meadowell and was agreeing with you I did as well and i agreed with him!
  9. Its worrying but it probably is good news Moore might make it, thats how well we're going these days!
  10. I still think it was right to sell Speed because here he was finished. At Bolton Alardyce changed his fitness regime totally and uses him and the team around him to get the very best out of his experience and intelligence. Were he still here then he would look finished and be getting stick left right and centre from toon fans!
  11. I don't like the bloke at all, but then none of the better prem managers are remotely likable, in fact most of them are complete twats! I'd have him here like a shot because he'd sort out alot of the things about NUFC that really drive me up the wall. He'd bring in a top, professional coaching set up, and indeed a set up that encompassed everything you could think of and more. He'd bring in organisation and structure and produce a team that looked liek they knew what they were doing instead of the current system of sending out 11 people who seemingly met! He'd have us well drilled on all set pieces both attacking and defending and we are currently a disgrace on both. Also he tends to get the very best out of players instead of making them worse and seems to know what he's doing in terms of scouting and signing players from roudn the world. And here he'd have more money than he's had before, bigger crowds and a shot down the line (if he's succesful) of trying to break into the top 4 which no matter what he does at Bolton is unlikely.
  12. I've thought this for ages. Fat Fred has only ever had one "plan" from the day Shearer started taking coaching badges and that has been to bring him in as manager because he's the ultimate geordie and toon legend and therfore will be the bestest manager in the whole wide world ever! We don't know when it'll happen but once we had a short term, cheap and (not to be harsh, but) nonentity in Roeder as manager it makes it all the easier to move him on when Big Al becomes ready to step in. We'd all probably prefer Fred to use some brains and bring in a top class manager who would completely sort this fucked up club from top to bottom (well apart from the board upwards!) and give them a whole pre-season to spend money and sort things out ready to start the new season with some hope... But there is only plan A which is Shearer and so, if Shearer can't (coaching qualifications) or won't take over this close season we are going to start next season with Roeder in temporary (whatever he might like to think) control and nobody in their right mind wants that.
  13. And what would you know, you should be burning in hell already you adulterer!
  14. Not that i think we should be extending the ground unless somehow this genuinely will cost us nothing down the line. But if it happens you'd just hope, for once, that Fat Fred could do something decent (and intelligent) and offer the extra seats match to match very cheap (and i mean seriously cheap) to kids and families as firstly it would mean a less epmty St. James and secondly we might have a chance at building the next generation of fans (if the football doesn't totally put them off for good!) But i don't imagine he'll do this at all!

  16. I know what you mean but i think in this case you will always find enough bible bashers who have such a hatred of gays that really any old tosspot could get them into his cult as they are so consumed by their hatred. His process probably didn't require much more than: "Hey guys, fancy becoming proffesional homophobes" followed by explaning what "homophobe meant to the dickheads he's surrounded by and then everyone going "Hell yeah!" Also with this cunt, oops i mean cult they're nearly all family so he can start brainwashing from day one and doesn't need to be convincing at all as his brainpower is perfectly matches to that of a toddler!
  17. There's the best advice, you always find the overconfident, gobby bullshitters way further up the chain than they ever should be.
  18. No idea what their music is like but you can't beat banter like that as you say!

Isn't that the point? My point being that the feat has it's impressive-ometer needle dampened by the fact that they weren't fighting against the Persian SAS... It's still impressive, but the "facts" detract from the legend. They did though, the "Immortals" were like the persian SAS (except in far greater numbers!) and they fought them! Here's the wiki entry for the battle of Thermopylae: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae The gospel that is Wiki. Yes, it can't be beaten as a source of all knowledge! A lad at work knew somebody who actually put a link to wiki in a piece of work for an Msc! I'd never directly use wikipedia as a reference, but I have followed the reference links at the bottom of articles (often from authorised and well-respected publications) and used them in one of my essays. Thats one of the things i like about wiki, that even if people will question the voracity of articles within it, you will often find very good links and references which can be used.
  20. I hear Roy Keane has said Given is just doing this to get a pat on the back and that Steve Harper should be allowed to do the talk in instead.

  23. As has been said its just Keane giving everyone a reminder that he is and always has been a complete and utter prick. But he's really starting to fit n well with the bitter, jealous, obsessed mackem types that support his club. As for the Shearer incident, you can well imagine the mackems loving that, even though Keane missed and then did fuck all when Shearer stood toe to toe with him. Even Keane admitted that he'd been a prick over that incident!

Yeah i enjoyed it and loved the gory fight scenes (but would have liked more of them!) but it wasn't quite as good as i was expecting.
  25. This is the sort of thing that does my head in about the people who run this football club from chairman to maanger. And its why we are the worlds largest pub team, loads of money and resources, run like your local sunday league team. The idea that in 20007 a club with our crowds and turnover, playing in the prem has 1 fulltime scout is absolutely disgraceful. And even if in the past the people who "run" our club were too thick to sort this out you'd think by watching the likes of Arsenal and their scouts trawling europe for the best young players we may have just thought, lets get a few more souts oursleves!
