  1. It was the fact Roeder had made a big thing about it being Luque's chance, that he should show what he can do and show he deserves a chance. Luque played well, worked pretty hard i think and scored the only goal of the game. So Roeder naturally dropped him from the team completely when the lad might just have had a tiny bit of confidence and somethign to possibly build on.
  2. Amen Ritchie, it wasn't a dig at anyone in particular, it's the general concensus that's seeming to become apparent. I think it's in the best interests of us from a footballing point of view to keep a hold of him as long as possible. So do i, we don't know how well next season may go and how likely it then may be that Owend ecides to stay longer term. The fact remains he is one of the worlds top goal scorers and will make a massive difference to us if he stays and plays next season. Gemmill is right though about the precious fans who expect every player to love the club the same way we do and acknowledge its the greatest honour possible to play for the toon! As long as he (or anyone else) is fully committed when playing and scoring goals how much he loves the club or not doesn't bother me.
  3. I'd still first try to flog him, but if we find no one who is taking him from us, there will be no other choice. I don't think Luque would do to badly in a 4-3-3 Allardyce likes, if only he can get him to be a bit arsed on the pitch. The only way I feel we could get rid of him is for free, which is pointless. Spot on there Sima. Might as well give him a go. And much as Luque hasn't helped himself Roeder treated him badly imo. Especially when he put all the pressure on Luque before Palermo away, only for him to score the winner and still not get another start. Bad crack imo. Agree with that. Luque hasn't done much himself but Roeder treat him like shit basically, especially after the Palermo match. And as people have said such is/was the piss poor running of this club from top to bottom that its no wonder foreign players often completely bomb here when nothing is doen whatsoever to integrate them and help them out in a totally new situation in their life.
  4. I read somewhere from Allardyce that he knows he needs to sort out the backroom team, but getting players in is more important so his efforts are going there first. But i'm sure we'll see some new faces in the backroom as well soon, i hope we do with Forde and Taylor being the ones to get sorted asap.
  5. Mind if you watched some of the game not involving the top 4 teams you'd think he was right at times. (and we were responsible for some of the worst!) But he is however talking complete and utter bollocks. Somebody should tell him that our basketball or ice hockey leagues are as good as there's just lack the marketing and see if he agrees!
  6. I bet they are the same so it causes as little trouble as possible to switch them. The problem will be that i think this decision if it goes for Sheff Utd sets up another investigation. By the time that would finish, if it relgates West Ham then they will challenge it/appeal which will take time and if still relgated probably appeal to another court or whatever. So there's chance that come time to kick off the season they'll have no idea who is playing where!
  7. Its a results business that operates withing rules, or else we'll all just start doing what the hell we like as long as we win. Why not have NUFC field 12 players every match next season, if we win its a results business so that's fine apparently! Other teams have been found guilty of offences and thrown out of cups, deducted points etc. West Ham deserve the same.
  8. FYP Quite a crucial FYP as well!
  9. West Ham should have been relegated and as has been said by many of the clubs around the bottom they would have been if they were from London, so yes i'd like to see them relegated. Also the way they are throwing money around there's an outisde chance they may have a decent season, so from our point of view its better to have Sheffield back!
  10. Even if the rules hadn't changed you have no obligation to kick the ball out, its up to the ref to blow the whistle and stop the game. It got way out of hand the kicking the ball out thing, especially as 99% of the time footballers are blatantly not injured because they're a bunch of tarts. If somebody had done it to England, or more importantly NUFC i'd say tough shit for us, they did their job properly for the good of their team and we have to get on with it.
  11. Come on now, say what you really think! But its not a shock is it, eastern european fans and players racially abusing people, it happens frequently, but uefa do fuck all to stamp it out and so it continues, they're waste of space. They'll probably blame it on Liverpool fans!

Except they'd probably manage to get more fans if they had a "soccer" team!
  13. Bargain ! I paid about that last week for just the 95-97 shirt. I've still got all my old shirts, including those two and a couple of old ones from before then!
  14. Allardyce really is the oppositte of the fuckwitts we had running the club before. I read something from him in the papers saying as soon as he arrived here he started by trying to get Distin on a free but it was too late and he went to Pompey. He doesn't hang around! Hope its true as we need alot of players through the door here to get the team and squad up to the required standard. Last season the squad wasn't good enough and then we've released 5 players and sold one, so there's plenty of work to do.
  15. He's young, and seems to be very capable of scoring goals at premiership level when playing in an average team. That guarentee of goals is worth alot of money. So whilst its stupid money, its what he's likely to go for these days, and the fact he's English obviously increases the fee. And to think we could have had him for abour 2 or 2.5m back when we got Ambrose if rumours are to be believed.
  16. Can't blame him for choosing Chewsea. If he backs his ability he thinks he'll get a chance and stay in the team, and then he's playing for a team in the CL with a chance at any number of trophies. We could offer him a first team place guarenteed but other than that, he was always likely to choose them. Shame as getting him in on a free leaves more cash to spend on other players.
  17. Good all round really. We've got him on a 4 year contract, he's going to go on loan and get a years experience under his belt and he seems to have the sense to be looking to challenge in a couple of years, as a keeper he has ages to establish himself.
  18. Definitely worth keeping Nobby another year then Sam and his team can take a look and see if they want him beyond that, if Nobby fancies staying longer as well.
  19. We almost always seem to play them first at St. James and away second, and i'm happy for that to continue.
  20. I think these 2 derbies will be the most anticipated in a long while and genuine contests, particluarly as both clubs can be seen as optimistic and on the up (at the moment) and both have managers who produce teams that will battle and not back down in such games.
  21. And i bet he'd been saying that for months now, long before they signed him... how the fuck did you know that???? What was said after the match He`s a cracking player 22 years old and i think ya`l find we are very happy to have signed the lad! I'm psychic Sounds like he could be a decent signing, though sometimes players hailed as being good in various positions never really settle into being a top player in any of them, but not a bad first signing by the sounds of it.
  22. I think we're on slightly less solid ground demanding that Zog comes out and pledges his future to the club given his experience of the last few seasons. With Owen you're talking about paying someone 100k per week and also guaranteeing him a starting place-an all but unique position of serious privilige. It has gone very quiet on Zog and Martins. I think Martins is here to stay unless Big Sam fancied cashing in, and since neither Sam or Zog have said anything i'm hoping it means he's happy to stay under the new management and hopefully get back to looking like he did a while back instead of the shambles last season!
  23. They haven't signed him yet, though he is next in line i believe!
  24. And i bet he'd been saying that for months now, long before they signed him...
  25. Sadly it's more a case of how much we need a player of his ability. Going by our current defensive legions, I'd say we might have to push the boat out in order to secure him. Its an Anal O story, the figure of £60k is probably bullshit... Its an Anal O story, the word "probably" doesn't need to precede bullshit... Though in this case i reckon if Chelsea want him, they will offer some serious wages, and we will probably have to match them.
