Didn't Marcus Trescothick (sic) have a similar problem? What is it with you fucking poms? Weak as piss man. Some survey was done, and depression is linked in some parts to intelligence levels. The higher your intelligence the more likely you are to get it. Makes sense when you never hear of a depressed Aussie. Probably more to do with the weather tbh. I reckon I might even cave in living over there long term. It's offset by the fact English people are much funnier than Aussies, and there's 100 times less chance of your fair skin resulting in skin cancer. Fuck off, haven't you watched Kath and Kim? And you only get skin cancer if you don't put sun lotion on man. A lot of the English out here this summer did not heed. Honestly man, you poms need a mug of cement soup so that you can harden the fuck up. Weak, whinging fuckers the lot of ya. Biggest racists in the Commonwealth I may add, look at that sponsored beach bullying of those Lebonese people. What a boring dweeb you've become. A shadow of your former self. Hang your head in shame Stevie. And who sponsored this "beach bullying" then? I await with anticipation your thoughts. Well I'd rather be a shadow of my former self, than a boring dweeb to begin with like yee I think you're more bitter than Danny B to be honest, and the best about it is the Aussie ashes woe looks set to continue for years. It effects you as a nation and people in a way that even a World Cup disaster doesn't effect us. Just remember you'd be speaking Japanese if it wasn't for us. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Cronulla_riots doilhams Why do you continue to type out words like as if you were a pirate? Look, I'm not bitter. I'm happy for you guys, fuck it's not often you poms win anything, let's be honest. We'd be speaking Japanese would we? You fucking dullard, you pricks couldn't manage it on your own so you expected the Aussies to be called up like servants to protect Britain while Australia was being attacked... thank fuck for the Marshall plan otherwise you'd be speaking German. No wonder Britain lost their empire with what you're spurting out, nothing more than a few specks of land now. Australia is ten times your size, and with everything going for it. I hope you don't wake up too cold in the morning champ, as for me, I'll go down the beach for a bit of a jog and swim. Such is life...

If we had an earthquake of that Magnitude it would be a lot worse than that here with the geology makeup of the UK. Also, isnt there a shelf in Gibraltar that if that falls would cause one of the biggest tsunami's known to man, basically the UK would go? This bloke doesnt thnk so: http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/gsl/views/askage...t/page6542.html] The earthquake that hit kent a few years back was only about 44 and that caused a lot of damage due to the clay's down there. imagine that doubled! I'm no expert on earthquakes by any stretch of the imagination but the scale of them works a bit differently to how you think they are. That is an earthquake of a magnitude of 8.8 is not double the strength of an earthquake with a magnitude 4.4. The earthquake that hit Christchurch had a magnitude of 6.3, but this Japanese one with a magnitude of 9.0 was said to be roughly a thousand times stronger. Well, that's what I read anyway.

I suppose Greg Palast (the blole interviewed) is a nutjob as well? You're so narrow minded you probably fall over cause your head is saw shaped. I get my info from everywhere. I don't sit there crying into a BBC teatowel you nonce. You get your info from any site that suits your weird views, which are conspiracy sites in the main. Parlance is welcome to his views but he's not credible in this case. 'ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND WILL DIE!!!!!' - based on absolutely no evidence at all. I think I'll trust scientists who have spent their entire careers in the field rather than a journalist who clearly has an agenda. I get the impression some people actually want this thing to go off...... Aye, there are loons out there that want a full-blown meltdown just so they can say their predictions were right, no doubt about it.

Because the Japanese aren't as poor as the blacks in New Orleans - look up the correlation between crime and poverty. No, but people are/were extremely poor in Sendai and her surrounding areas which was the initial impact zone of the tsunami, yet it was safe. Why hasn't there been any looting since the disaster? I don't think you can use stats to make arguments about safety/crime/poverty between Americans and Japanese. Is that racist to say? I don't give a shit, because I think it's the truth. You hop on a train and lose your carry-all containing your wallet and phone in Japan and you can be sure someone would hand it over to a worker at a train station and you'd be able to claim it and get it back. If something like that happened in America, or here in Sydney, well... fat chance. It's a culture thing. I've experienced it and know it. Well done Wacky. Excellent thread.

Different culture mate. While the Japanese are currently facing hell on earth, here in Australia a 101 year old lady has her watch and shopping money stolen by a pair of middle aged men who obviously preyed on her and waited for an opportune time to nail her. A 95 year old blind woman gets bashed and robbed and an 80 year old bloke coming home from watching the movies gets pummeled and is left lying on the middle of the road. On the weekend a few coppers get blood spat in their face for trying to break up a fight. I've always said Australia and particularly America are our naughty kids who have turned in to right wronguns. Kids learn from their parents.

When you say pacy, you mean pacy as in Joey Barton pacy, Gazza pacy or Emre pacy right?
-
Just following on from that as well, watching the news here, one of the blokes in that facility fighting the fires was supposed to retire in 6 months time. He volunteered to stay on and knows he won't survive this.

so what are you suggesting that would actually help? There is no solution unless people are willing to give up their lives. Where's the kamakaze style spirit now? I wouldn't dee it like. Happening as we speak champ. The 50 who are still there in the nuke plant know they will die for being there. They've tweeted messages saying it is their duty to the nation. Apparently they do what they do for ten minutes spurts before getting out otherwise they'd fry. Here in Australia the media are dubbing them "samurai warriors".

Ten times normal is absolutely nothing Stevie. You get hundreds of times normal radiation every time you have an X-ray and thousands of times normal every time you fly, and it is of absolutely no harm to human health. That was a one off reading as well. Not saying this is over by a long shot but conversely you seem to be predicting the worst case scenario is going to happen. Too right. I don't think anyone's daft enough to try and suggest that this situation will be resolved quickly. A nuclear accident takes years to fix up, but the immediate issue of stopping/preventing fallout will take months. Rods in a nuclear reactor takes ages to cool down and stabilize.
-
Look, I'm no pommy-basher, the whinging, whiny pricks that they are known to be. But back to things more serious, reports suggest reactor 4 may be bone-dry. If that is the case then we have now reached doomsday-status. It is denied by the Japanese company who runs the fucking thing, and they reckon they're on the verge of connecting power to those pumps to keep the situation stable. Of course they'd say that though as their value on the share market tumbles down...
-
Really? I mean it hasn't gone completely kaboom, but they look to be scrambling to me. Of course they're scrambling, pumping seawater through the reactors shows they are willing to cut their losses (seawater makes reactors obsolete) with them in order to maintain control of the situation. If doomsday was going to happen, it would have done so on Saturday or Sunday. Of course I could be wrong, but that's the feeling I have with what is going on there. The longer this plays out without a complete meltdown the more the Japanese have it under control.
-
Doesn't it say more about trust in governance and aid delivery than it does about any inate cumpulsion towards disorder. Of course trust in governance has a lot to do with it HF, no doubt about it, but the Japanese have a resilience and unity about them which is not seen in the west.
-
He is quite technical but I compare him to the useless Aussie shites that run around in the A-League like headless chicken, and who of course don't play for Brisbane. But he has great control and seems to have oodles of time when on the ball. He looks to have a pretty decent football brain and knows when to pass it, keep it and run into space. Not sure that English football will suit his style though, he's a bit on the slow side of things and the fact he's 17 doesn't bode well for him there, and he's not the strongest lad either. If I were him I'd showcase myself around Italy or Germany.
-
The doomsdayers will be disappointed but the Japanese look to have things under control, and there will be no meltdown. The longer this goes the more likely that this is the case. People just fail to understand the cultural differences between the Japanese and the west. The Japanese are the most organised, most efficient and most orderly people on earth. If what has happened, happened in the US or Europe they just wouldn't cope. Riots, looting, mass panic, assaults and murder, we all remember what happened after Hurricane Katrina. Katrina is a Sunday walk in the park compared to what is happening now in Japan.
-
Does it? I suppose you had to be there. This is Sydney, man, not the fucking dreary north-east of England where your balls shrink in the winter time. Sydney; the weather great, the scenery breathless, the girls gorgeous, the MDMA genuinely MDMA, sex is leisure, Sunday breakfasts are heaven and whinging is not allowed .

Well I think I should if people make light of a gang-rape man, ok? You complained above about the direction leading to religion and/or regional racism which I still think is invalid as the shift was logical - if you want to complain about the jokey comments at the start from Ketsbaia then that's possibly fair - but I'd say the lad makes quite a few bad taste comments which don't bother me. I applaud you. You've worked it all out, man, on your own. And I hate people throwing in the racism card for no reason. For no reason, ok? Tbf, it was quite difficult to work that out from what you said, K-Dogg. OK, point taken. TBF, when I do come on here I've normally had a few. Seriously though, I fucking hate it when arab-muslims scream racism in order to protect themselves. It happens all the time here, and it is an embarrassment to moderate muslims and non-muslim arabs.

I was member of Sublime before it became 'big' here in Sydney. Cost me $50 for a year, but back then it was a little, cosy room on Pitt St, rather than the big commercialised airplane hanger that it is now in Darling Harbour. Scoring a King Crown and turning up here was fucking mint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Sky Garden was another hang out joint for me back then. A small room on a seventh floor commercial apartment in the CBD, the smell of weed let you know you were there. Ahh memories...

Glad to hear you live on the northern island, Kitman, and, of course, that you are safe. The devastation in and around Canterbury is beyond comprehension. My heart is with them all, and I would hope they are allowed their own time to grieve. It bothers me that many Aussie media personalities are there.

South Africa were well impressive today. that Devillers he is going to be a star player of the tournament. they should least reach the final Aye, so were Australia, man. South Africa won't come close to it. It''ll be between India and Australia. Sri Lanka are the outsiders.
