People seem to forget that holding the Hull game up as an example of protests = bad is hugely flawed, mainly because we were just as bad for the rest of the season without protests. There is no doubt in my mind that the upheaval caused by a very popular manager being forced out of the club and the lack of information being fed down to the playing staff from those above contributed much, much, much more to the loss than the fans being a bit annoyed.

To be fair, I think it's the ONLY way to ensure sustainability. I can see a lot of clubs getting into real trouble down the road (I realise we already are, but we're in a lot less debt than some). It's bizarre to think that so many clubs are just one bad season away from total disaster - the top four live in fear of not making it into the Champions League and around 10 of the other clubs in the Premier League would 'do a Leeds' should they go down. They've clearly sat down and thought "How can we make even more money out of this stadium renaming business? How about we spent the cash we initially receive on a bloody big screen where we can charge extra for adverts? Genius!"

You can look at this either one of two ways: 1) They're doing this to wind the fans up more by just tacking on a company name to the front and making it sound utter shite. 2) They've seen the backlash the potential renaming has caused and this is a partial climbdown. Either way this should pour fuel on the fire of any potential protests for Saturday.

I don't think they will. Without Torres and Gerrard they're pretty average the truth be told. I think the top four will be Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal and Man City. Rather than Liverpool mourn the death of their club they should think of it this way - they're doing football a service. As for NUST spending their money on buying the naming rights what does that achieve? We keep the name but his pockets are still being lined. It's an awful suggestion. If done correctly it could be a fucking huge embarrasment to him. But the flip side is he'd get some cash he shouldn't. Doubt it, he's done worse and it hasn't bothered him.
