As I suspected my car is a right off. I've heard nothing from the scrote who drove into me, nor have I heard any more from his mother. I think they're still pretty peeved that i've went through the insurers as I got an email today from my insurer basically saying they're being awkward about liability but not to worry as my compulsory excess has been waived and my NCD is, at the moment, secure because they're pretty confident they'll get an admission soon. Just glad it's slowly getting sorted now. Oh, and yes. My neck and back are still fucking sore

She's of the opinion that because I wasn't writhing in agony at the scene of the accident, mainly due to the fact I was in shock and had fair amount of adrenaline pumping through my veins, I can't have whiplash. I was going to point out that whiplash can stay hidden for up to a week and my doctor diagnosed me straight away going on the details of the accident and discomfort I told her but I couldn't be arsed to argue with the expert

Just got another phone call off his Mam basically trying to put the frightners on me. She says she's been onto the insurance and i'll get done for fraud if i'm lying about my whiplash

I don't know to be honest Tom but I would imagine it varies greatly from state to state but for me, it shouldn't even be an issue. I'm all for giving people 2nd chances etc. but that doesn't even come into it for things like this. I would imagine I'd be at the more tolerant end of the scale as well if you took a straw poll amongst members of the public. There's a continuous scale of offence though isn't there. Stuff like what these people have done is incomprehensible to any sane person - abusing toddlers ffs. Completely agree they should never be released, that's unfixable. But then there's people like Polanski, which isn't as bad, but is still very serious. But should he be locked up for life? And then much futher down the scale, you'd have 18 year old lads going with 15 year old girls etc. Out of interest, who's seen the Woodsman with Kevin Bacon? I know a lot of people who would refuse to watch it on principle, but its worth feeling uncomfortable watching it I reckon. Not that I felt any the wiser after watching it. Used to know a lass who was around 14/15 while seeing someone quite a few years her senior. She insisted he wasn't a sex offender when people took the piss then he got locked up - turned out he was a serial flasher. He'd been going around Weshy waving his willy at people for a while and he got caught and put on the sex offenders register.

Been to the docs, whiplash as I fully expected. I rang the lad when I got him and told him the good news. He wasn't happy and tried his best to change my mind in an indignant "That's not fair, you're milking it" kind of way but I stood fast and he seems to have accepted it...I think. I've just been onto the insurer to sort it out. Think i'll give Winn the "Thanks but no thanks" line.

He's been admitted to hospital in Dubai. going on if it turns out to be serious.

I've got an appointment at the doctors this morning. I woke up at about 6am in some discomfort, neck aching like buggery, so I thought best to get straight in there. I've contacted my insurer too and told them the craic. They've told me injurywise if I want to make a claim then I have to claim for the accident too, which I already guessed at. Looks like it's going through my insurance after all. I'll give the kid a ring later and break the news to him. I bet he'll be pleased.

Cheers for the info everyone. I've got all his details so it looks above board. He's pretty desperate to pay out of his pocket to save his insurance from sky rocketing (he'd been passed a week apparently). He's offering to get his father to sort out some quotes but I think i'm going to ring the insurance company up tomorrow and see what they can do with regards to pricing up the damage. I'm nee expert but i'd wager it would cost more to fix than the car's worth (M reg Micra rust bucket). The boot and back bumper are fucked, the lights on the rear left will need replacing and the panels towards the back on the left are warped meaning the back door isn't opening at all easy. I'd wager there are some important bits underneath I don't know about that are badly damaged too. Is there a chance the insurance company will say it's not worth the hassle repairing it and just hoy some cash my way? There is also the fact my neck feels like it's gained an inch or two and if i'm right I wouldn't be able to claim for whiplash if it starts to give me jip if I don't go through insurance.

Been in an accident this afternoon, the young lad who crashed into the back of me was pretty keen to pay out of his own pocket rather than go via the insurance (understandable). My car isn't roadworthy so taking it to the garage is a no-no. Is there any way I can get an estimate/someone to come out to my house? Cheers.
