I said I may have misheard as they (the folk on the radio) were talking about it when I walked in the room with the radio on. I'm 90% certain that is what they were saying, but without hearing the whole conversation I can't be certain. One way or another, we'll see. As good a striker Fowler is, I would have thought he was too imobile to do any good in America. We'll see. Considering the amount of rumors surrounding players and the DP rule, the fact that there's been virtually nothing about such a move on this side of the Atlantic suggests that it's nothing but tabloid/agent talk.

The past being the NASL? It's a different reality now. In the NASL days, noone played soccer, no one had heard of soccer. Half of the population couldn't even have named Pele. Now soccer is the most played sport for youth in this country now. The game is familiar to people. The fact that there is a reason to go to a game will be enough to bring out people who otherwise wouldn't go, and it will catch on with at least some of them. The sport is more popular now than it ever was in the past, with MLS running things in a much more intelligent way than the NASL ever did. The DP rule is going to be an interesting test, but I have a feeling it'll be a rule that goes away after the 'trial period.'

He won't 'transform' the game over here, but he will raise its profile, which was the aim (he already has.) I don't think even the people spouting it believe half the shite they've come out with about him. It's all media speak.

Sound like jobs for those detained in jaol, especially the first three!! Zath = former inmate. Working in the theatre was canny, actually. I got to see all the operas for free. INstead of paying $100 to see them once, I got paid twice that to see them several times. KFC was right shitty, but only lasted a few weeks. The groundskeeping job was actually ok, since all I did was listen to music all day on headphones whilst mowing grass/spraying weeds etc, but the pay was lousy. Working at the library was a great job during school. I worked at the University library, so I had to do very little actual work and got my schoolwork done while getting paid.

How about "acceptable"? That's about as far as I'd be willing to go, and that only because I'm making allowances for the amount of cash that Freddy's made available.

I suppose it's better than "shite."
