Well I remember Shearer scoring against the scum while he had a hard on but to my knowledge there's never been a goal scored by stiffy manufactured by a team mate so I suppose it would be one for the record books. Not sure I'd be overly keen to see it though
-
Aye I was thinking that myself, I have basically no recollection of him at all.
-
Just go to pornhub and search in the category named gay if that's your thing mate. I'm sure (although I have no personal experience of it) that you'd be able to see something like that. Personally I'm hoping for a Cisse using his feet or head to get a hatrick but each to their own

Was Nolan not our last captain before Colo? It's not that much of stretch to remember that surely
-
Was very tempted to go down there for this one had I not been totally skint. Going to have to watch it in the local with a couple of pints!
-
I think he'd sell in a shot if the right offer came in.

I agree with this and they really do need to stand up and be counted now. I'm not sure that just because Krul speaks excellent English, that's enough of a reason to give him the job but I take your point. Particularly the bit about the interviews. The captain (along with the manager) should really be the face of the club to the press and public and I don't really think Colo has done much in that respect. The likes of Krul, Jonas and Ba have always done much more in that respect. But I do think Cabaye would be well suited to that. I think he speaks enough English now and of course after last week his speaking his native tongue is just as important!

The other thing is that I think they've realised that there was a great opportunity to sign these players for less than their value which increases the profit we can make when we sell them. Mbiwa had an agreement with Montpelier that they would accept a reasonable price when he signed a new contract with them, Sissoko and Gouffran were both coming to the end of the their deals and Haidara was playing for a team staring relegation in the face so they could easily lose money on him if they waited. Selling these players on at a profit in the future will unfortunately always be part of our decision making process now. This isn't necessarily a bad thing given the amounts we've lost on the likes of Luque, Boumsong and Owen in the past. But if the money isn't always put back into the squad then it only benefits one person!

I really am looking forward to this one more than any other game this season. Can't wait to see what Sissoko's all about, from the way he's being talked up we've made a really excellent signing. Their heads should be really down after getting knocked out of both cup competitions to lower division sides in the space of a few days and ours should be back up after one of the best transfer weeks since we signed Shearer. I'm still nervous but I'm also as confident I've been about an away game since we came back up.

From what I hear, they are extremely excited about Haidara. Apparently he's blown them away in training already. He's very pacy and has an excellent left foot. I know people have talked about moving Santon further forward but it wouldn't surprise me to see Haidara getting games on the wing.

Don't agree with keepers being captain. It needs to be someone in the thick of things. Cabaye is the obvious choice. Whilst I still think we don't know what half the truth is, if this letter was really from him and we hear nothing from him then I agree he's not the man to lead the team any more and I would doubt whether taking it off him would bother him in the slightest as it would certainly look like his mind is made up to be on his bike in the summer regardless.

I said on one of the other threads that I think one of the other considerations if we go down will be that we will lose a lot of money when we have to sell players for a fraction of their worth. There is absolutely no chance that the likes of Ben Arfa and Cabaye will stay if we go down and you know that we won't get as much for them in that situation. The combination of this and the loss in TV money are the reasons for Ashley finally acting. He couldn't care less what division we are in for anything other than financial reasons.
-
He was a very good player for us for two years but his legs had gone as has been said. We were probably lucky to get the one season out of him in the premiership where it was simply his experience that got him through alongside Bobby Lee and Clarky. On looking at his stats, I'm quite surprised at how many games he played for us as I don't have a great deal of specific memory of him like I do with others around that time. I'm also surprised at how many games he played after he left.
-
The Villa game is the first time in a long while that I've been really looking forward to a game. You'd think the last week will be a massive confidence boost to the team.
-
You could probably make the same argument about lesser quality teams buying players from almost any country tbf. The bigger clubs have bigger scouting networks and can pay more for a player so it's not surprising that they have a better hit rate. We've looked to our scouts to give us the advantage our tight owner won't give us financially.
-
Kezman and Afonso Alves aren't Dutch either (neither of course is Bony) so there's no problem using Suarez as an example of success if they're being put up as the failures.
-
Scored some belters in the one I watched. Definitely some piss poor defending too like.
-
Looks strong and pacy going by YouTube compilations. I'm not sure how we'd work a partnership out with him and Cisse given the midfielders that we have to play around them.
-
Unfortunately the position we've put ourselves in, thats not a concern!
-
Sounds like just the young gun we need.
-
If this is real he's certainly not doing himself any favours and he should be saying something to us too. But more than anything San Lorenzo come out of this looking like complete twats. Im sure we won't be the only club that thinks twice about ever dealing with them.
-
Well whatever the truth is, the one thing I'm certain of is that losing him would have a negative effect. Even if Mbwia is as good as him, chances are that he won't show it from day one.
-
Well we don't know if he's in the wrong or just been in an awful position. But regardless of that he's done his best to put it to one side when he's been playing. I think punishing him isn't going to have anything but a negative effect. Like I say, all of the players need to stand up and be counted and any of them can still show leadership without actually having the armband.
-
There are makems that were more arsed about us staying up than that little prick!
-
All the players have to take responsibility for getting us out of the shit. I don't really think who wears the armband on the pitch should effect that.
