I think I'm in a real minority who really liked Solo. I just thought it was a really fun film. -
They never like to point out that when we sell a player, we then don't have to pay they wages that they like to tell us all goes into the purchase price of a player. It's all one way with them and the media seem to just lap it up without bothering to challenge them on their shite.

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace
David Kelly replied to Ayatollah Hermione's topic in Newcastle Forum
Thought Almiron was better than he'd been in a few weeks on Saturday. At the end of the day, we did more than enough to win that game comfortably. But if you don't put your chances away you'll get punished more often than not at this level. Nothing to be concerned or particularly excited about though. -
They'd all be sent off in the first five minutes these days unfortunately.

I've never met anyone from here who goes out on the drink in that shit hole. In fact when I used to work there, most of them much preferred going out in Newcastle.

It's difficult to pick out any one player for a poor performance because on the ball it was pretty much awful across the board. Lascelles obviously cost us with the second goal and the one worry I have about him is that when he starts doing poorly he really lets it effect him for the rest of the game and his performance gets worse and worse. I really hope well look to replace Yedlin in the summer as he really does have very little other than immense pace.

I'd be surprised if you didn't know it down to the last person mind.

Mind, when you see what £50m gets you these days's, he's probably not that far wide of the mark.

That's ok, no cunt from outside this area has any clue who mackems are.

Crazy Rich Asians. Allegedly a rom com but they seemed to completely forget the com part. Even Ken Jeong fails to provide any humour at all. Absolute dross. -
I've been listening to the original radio 4 Knowing Me Knowing You. It's some of the best Partridge stuff that's ever been done.

Captain Marvel. Didn't really fancy it that much but thought I'd better see it before the Avengers finale. Was actually a lot better than I expected, helped by the 90's setting and soundtrack. -
I don't think he would have been expecting us to push for a top 6 place this season. I think he'll have been hoping to get the backing to have us comfortably in the top pushing towards about 8th. He's not daft enough to think we can push the top six without serious financial backing. I agree with those saying they think he really wants to stay but I don't think Ashley will do what's required to keep him.

Uncalled for.

Not knowing the ending and having no idea about climbing, it was without doubt the most tense sequence I've ever seen. Seeing it in the cinema made the scale totally terrifying.

Well with Longstaff rumoured to be out for the rest of the season, we're going to need him back playing shortly. Although I'd be playing Ki first.

Whoa I never said anything about Shelvey being banned. Hypothetically though a player might play for the reserves when his ban was up and the Premier League usually give out bans in terms of games rather than time.
-
If we'd tried again to play a formation to suit Mitrovic we would have been relegated this season too. I don't necessarily subscribe to any theory that this makes him shite though. He's just not good enough to cover a team that has a load of average players in it. I think he could actually do ok for a mid level sort of premier league team.
-
Apparently Premiership players surprisingly regularly fail drugs tests for Cocaine and get three month bans. This is somehow kept out of the press. Sounds a little far fetched but it's what I was told the other day.

Even a new solo album would have been great. Sadly not to be. RIP.

True detective was superb this season I thought.

I loved Amadeus when I watched it. I must dig it out again. Blackkklansman. Not one of Spike Lee's best films but pretty decent. -
The difference in batting styles in that ODI yesterday was really good to watch. I know the wicket offered very little for the bowlers and that could have made for a very boring game even with such a big total to chase. But the way we went about it I thought was exceptional. Admittedly their fielding was awful and their attack was anything but strong. The calls for Roy to be given a go in the test team are getting louder and louder now.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
David Kelly replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
I only really know what is written in that article and according to that, Cardiff announced that the deal was all signed and he had been registered for their squad so it looks like everything that was required was received (if I remember rightly he was talked about as possibly being registered in time to play against us, so possibly he didn't need a work permit?). What McKay did on their behalf in terms of booking the flight is nothing to do with Nantes though is it? You would have though Cardiff would have arranged such things for their record signing themselves but if the transfer had gone through, it was no longer Nantes concern either way. I assume Cardiff would have had him insured from the moment he became their player. You would think the insurance company would be interested in knowing whether Cardiff had correctly safeguarded the asset they were insuring. Again this has nothing to do with Nantes though. They could seek compensation from McKay for their loss, but they would still have to pay. I agree that their claim certainly comes across as lacking in class but then again, I've got no idea what their finances are. They may be in a position that they can't afford for Cardiff to take their time over things. It appears that a large part of Cardiff's issue comes from whether or not they were mislead into thinking there were other clubs in for the player and so they paid over the odds. But I can't see how this is an argument not pay. It might make them not want to deal with McKay again but I can't imagine there's an agent out there who isn't doing the same thing. This is basically all coming from that one article though so I'm perfectly willing to accept some of the things in it might be biased or factually inaccurate.
