Announcing Carlton Cole as Andy Carroll’s replacement in June would have been a PR disaster. Pretending to be after a range of French strikers and then claiming we tried but had to bring in CC on deadline day would also be a PR disaster, but certain persons think lying is good PR. I fail to see what Cole brings to the table. His record is pretty poor, he's not tricky or that quick and hardly a prolific finisher.

What I find laughable is Barton tweeting about not wanting to leave then going to a shitty team like QPR. He could stay but the 80-100k p.w. on offer makes him think otherwise. Aye, he could stay for the rest of this season (and only that) and potentially lose the chance to make megabucks. If he wants to stay he can, his contract runs for a year. He will take the money and the long contract just like Nolan did. Must like relegation as they will go down, no doubt
