  1. Last season was a crazy one with some great results and also a few shockers. If we can stamp out some of the poor performances against lesser sides and be a bit more consistent then I think next season could bring a top 8 finish
  2. Sky reckon Houghton is in for Best and Routledge
  3. 14th in 2006 and our revenue was still less than Liverpool by 80m, just to put things into a bit of perspective. Revenue is the money that comes into the club which a percentage can be spent on players and wages thus clubs with a higher revenue can spend more on players and wages hence the reason we can't compete with certain clubs with much higher revenues because if you do then you end up spending more than is coming in. Kapeesh???
  4. I would say at first he was when he had to put a lot of money in but the club is now more or less self sufficient. Not many clubs are in that position and if he invests on 3 or 4 more good players I reckon we could get a top 7 or 8 finish next season, which in our second season would be a good result As for the 35m from Carroll being spent I guess we can judge on 1st Sept, I would be surprised if the whole lot is spent solely on transfers tho
  5. And here is how NUFC is now run. By the way CT, yes we've got 3 new recruits in but including AC we've now shipped 5 out the door of an already under-strength squad. You including Kuqi and fat Sol in that?? How much did they play?
  6. I gave up replying to L.M.s posts as he just asks the same question over and over, even when its been answered. Ask him something and get a question in response or maybe an answer that has nothing to do with the question. I'm going to wait until the window closes before making any more judgements
  7. Good luck to him. Also now with 2 of our previous managers in the championship there must be a hope we can offload Smith
  8. For starters Cabaye wasnt a free Would love Sturridge and it may happen if Boas brings in big name strikers, would prefer a sale to a loan tho`
  9. Mike Ashley isn't competing, he's just pocketing the cash. What is difficult to understand, why are you saying he is "competing" when all he is doing is turning the club into a selling club again ? Your "argument" is so naive and brainwashed, its amazing. You know and understand fuck all about the club and what it ought to be doing, and it shows. I will repeat for the last time, what does Man City being taken over by a bunch of Arabs got to do with Mike Ashley choosing to compete at the levels of Bolton and Blackburn ? Tell you what, don't bother. You are a fucking nutter
  10. It's pretty fucking simple why you are not answering my question, you can't and you know the figures don't add up. There is no way that they could compete in this market, you know it but you won't say it because all your arguments will fall apart
  11. so you know fuck all about how the club was run between the early 1960's and when the Halls and Shepherd bought it ? So you have no idea of the state the club was in when they bought it ? I thought so. No bullshit, I don't do bullshit, I'm telling you how it was, if you don't want to believe it, carry on believing whatever it is you want to do in your fantasy world. What's that got to do with the question of how they would compete in todays transfer market and moreso how it would be financed?? Enlighten me o wise one remind me what you said at the time, as I've already asked you. When is your man going to do "better than Fred" did ? Stick to the league positions, european qualification ie the facts. He's not my man and he won't as there is a massive difference in the market now, do you deny the market is vastly different now?? Also why can't you answer my question about how the old owners could compete in todays market remind me again, did you or anybody else say 5-6 years ago that you wanted rid of "Fred" because if he wasn't replaced, we would have to compete at the levels of Bolton and Blackburn, selling our best players to survive ? Your avoidance of answering my question speaks volumes, you know there is no way they could compete but you won't admit it as that will make you look a bigger fucking Pratt then you do already. If not tell me how they could and maybe back it up with some figures please tell me why, after 4 years, Mike Ashleys transfer policy has not yet realised better results and league positions on the pitch than "Freds" - if you are so convinced it is "better" ? A quite straightforward question, don't bother with any bullshit "opinions", just give me the facts. Fuck me, are you mental??? I have said countless times its not better and will not give better results, ie C.L. football. You understand that you bellend?? Stop asking me the same shit when I have answered it on more than one occasion. Now answer my fucking question, how could the old owners compete in todays transfer market????
  12. The first part of the process is making an offer to the club and the club accepting the offer. The player is not involved until this point, other than through an agent who always has a vested interest in getting the player to think about it. Its first of all about whether Stoke want £12m for the player. If they do, then its down to whether the agent can persuade the player (if needed) to discuss terms which may be better than what he is on. Then the transfer happens. Why would Nolan go to West Ham? Newcastle = premier league. Its a no brainer. and he did, because he found West Ham a more attractive club. Why indeed would Shawcross want to leave Stoke for Newcastle ? Lets see if it actually happens first. Found the 5 year deal and 50k a week more attractive, fuck all to do with the club being attractive as basically they are a championship club who will loose its best players. Payday for Nolan, that's it. Even you said you wouldn't have given him a 5 year deal

  16. points made with hindsight, you mean ? I'm not talking about "hindsight", especially when its only done to avoid admitting you were wrong, like this. I answer people questions [when they obsess about it] yet it is claimed I don't. I've made my point on skunkers, they all said "anybody but Fred would do better than this", but won't admit it. They all enjoyed all those european nights etc, yet said "anybody but Fred", and they know it. What does Man City being bought by a bunch of Arabs [which NOBODY knew was going to happen when they were advocating "anybody but Fred" got to do with NUFC becoming a selling club again ? Is ANYBODY on skunkers going to answer this question ? Because to date, nobody has. You always attempt to deflect good posts by posting the same thing - if you read the thread where TT posted that you will find plenty acknoelwdgement that what we saw under the previous regime was great but you won't read that as it doesn't fit your agenda. The simple fact that someone can say it was great but was doomed (as recognised by their decision to sell) is beyond you. As is recognising that if it was as simple as Man City being bought there wouldn't be a problem. Why don't you actually read the post about wages and turnover? The post is about how football is now and what it would take to match those achievments. There is no criticsim of the previous regime - only the point that what they did wouldn't work now - that isn't hindsight its just a well backed up opinion based on the current finances in football. Your problem is you think any assesment of how things are in 2011 automatically means a rejection of the good times - it doesn't - it just acknowledges the changes in the game and looks at how things could be improved which is what we all want. Good luck getting an answer to that. Great points BTW
  17. So what you are saying is don't worry about the finances, the money will come from somewhere. Pay top whack fees and wages,if a player wants to leave just throw money at him so he stays. You are a fucking financial genius
  18. As I said, do you think the old owners would have been able to compete in todays transfer market and if so how would it be financed?? I do consider Newcastle to be a big club I do get to some games And funnily enough, as my name suggests, I'm not a geordie. Does that mean I'm not allowed to support Newcastle? In response to your other question I started supporting Newcastle in the early 1990's when I was working up there, no doubt you will have a problem with this. Anyhow just answer that question above, without the usual bullshit,if that's possible
  19. Spot on, if I wrote that Leazes would be off on one, let's see
  20. I think we can challenge for Europe but it will be C.L. it will be Europa league, we should be competing for a top 7 finish every season
  21. Can't see that somehow, Tiote isn't 29 for a start and he got a SIX year deal. Maybe being in his early 20's and not knocking on 30 has something to do with length of contract. If he leaves then it will be for C.L. football and you can't blame players for wanting that can you??
  22. don't blame me this time You mention me in your posts and I will reply, simple. Most of your assumptions about me are wrong anyway the irony. But you think Mike Ashley is going to do better than the previous owners, right ? And you think his transfer policy is "better" [while we are waiting for the results to reflect it, 4 years down the line], right ? Please clarify, or forever hold your peace and admit you are talking shite. Arsehole!!! I answered that yesterday why dont you read it? I never said Ashley was better. I have pointed out mistakes made by the old owners. Do you think the old owners could compete in todays transfer market with the top 4 or 5?? If so explain how?
  23. So when Spurs sell Modric will that make them a selling club?? As for West Ham, they are not a more attractive club It's just they gave Nolan more money and a longer contract. It's all about the money and a 5 yr deal for a 29 year old isn't good value.
  24. cheaper so its "good business". Interesting that despite the mirth surrounding Jordan Henderson [until Liverpool finish miles higher in the league next season], Liverpool see him as a more worthwhile acquisition for that fee they paid than a free transfer player ? Typical Leazes to find the negatives, yaaaaawwnnn trust you and others like you to live in a fantasy world What do you think of the players we have signed so far?? have you seen them play ? What do you think of the 2 major sales we have made in the last 6 months ? When is our transfer policy going to match the results of the previous owners [bigger picture this, a difficult one] Take it you are not impressed with the new recruits then?? BA did very well in a poor West Ham team Cabaye just won the league with Lille and is a France international Merveaux I must admit I have never heard of him but Chelsea,Man U where sniffing around him also the scousers has him more or less signed, from what I`ve heard he seems a very good player but I`m sure time will tell. Maybe it would have suited you more if we had spent £30m on these instead of £4.5m?? As for your other questions, Carroll was a no brainer for £35m and Nolan wanted a 5 year deal at 29 I dont think he should have been given one. So I dont have a problem with either of the sales tbh. As for the transfer policy, I have said before, under Ashley it wont match the previous owners policy as the club cant afford to do it. They had big debts and payed for players of 2,3 and 4 years not to mention spending future income. The club is more financially secure now and maybe more appealing to a rich Arab to come and buy because thats the only way we will be able to compete at the top again, unlimited funds brainwashed, and making up things I have NEVER said. Fool What did I make up??
  25. From reading various things on the net and what people have seen him play reckon he's pretty decent Best way of evaluating a player tbh No its not but its all we've got for now, I'd never heard of Tiote before we got him either great idea. Why not presume every African player we see kicking a ball around is the new Tiote ? Can't go wrong, fuck me, why didn't Alex Ferguson [or me] think of that ? When did I say that you mong? I'm going off what I've read and heard about him. When did I mention every African player is the next Tiote. It just fucks you off we are getting decent players in so you cant piss and moan about lack of ambition etc you old fucking windbag
