Seems okay to me. But why does the article start repeating itself halfway down ??? Maybe in the hope that certain people get it if they have to read it twice? Repetitio est mater porcorum obesorum. -

According to the Journal Keegan came up with the idea to sign Hughton... http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastl...61634-20539089/ -
If they were 5 very good players - i.e. walk into the starting XI and improve it - that would be great and would do me. Too many people expecting too much too soon imo. Exactly. Imho it's not so much the number of players that count, but the type and quality of player. It's quite often that just a single player can transform a whole team. Robson only needed the inspirational signing of two players as well.

As for strikers. I'm just listening to the Stuttgart cup game on the radio. Throwing in a bit of national bias I'd like us to go for Mario Gomez from Stuttgart. 23 goals in the last 24 matches. Quite an amazing record for German football. Even better than Toni's. He's only 22 and been brilliant for two seasons now. Only a matter of time until the big clubs are seriously looking at signing him (Juve already enquired last summer).

Damn, I was looking for a video of my penalty save against bawan. I can't even make it to youtube, that's how crap I am...

I still think that just a couple of players actually are needed to make a big difference. Especially an attacking flair player. So I'd spunk the majority of the money on this position. Preferably Modric. I've seen him twice in the matches against Bremen and Hamburg where you could see him in comparison to Diego and van der Vaart. He'll cost big money (20-25m I guess) but be worth every penny imho. Add to it a composed defensive midfielder with some passing ability (I'd go for Kehl from Dortmund whose contract is running out), an organising central defender and a left back.

To be still rated by both Barca and Real fans tells its own story...

Strange as we produced so many likeable flair players during the 80s and 90s. Förster, Briegel and Stielicke were brilliant defenders as well. It's a telling story that arguably the best player of this time (Bernd Schuster) retired from international football at the age of 24 and therefore is little known. Mehmet Scholl would have been a player who could have made himself a name in international football if he had moved to a foreign club though.

Is it cos Matthäus was wearing Puma? I actually tried to find a Breitner one (as well as a Seeler and Kohler one). For Rummenigge I had to settle for this strange English song.

Too bad for Klinsmann that he didn't risk his leg. He could have left the place with his head held high then (and his leg in a bag).

Aye, incredible I remember watching it live on TV (UEFA Cup final vs. Stuttgart in '89), it was just brilliant. I also like the somewhat similar warming up of Andi Herzog... He should have cheated in '90 as well like his opponents in the final liked to do. They rolled around a lot didn't they? I am still amazed about the outrage about Klinsmann's "dive" in England. Of course, he made a meal of it, but Monzon's tackle was just absolutely mental and deserved a straight red anyway tbh. The penalty was obviously as soft as Owen's against the Argies a couple of years later. Augenthaler had a totally just penalty appeal turned down only minutes before though.

Well in regards to Becks it is probably a question of taste. But your obsession about the sizes of clubs is hilarious. Especially when it is as ignorant as in the case of Werder Bremen. I doubt that you would find many Germans agreeing with you. Probably even the vast majority of HSV fans wouldn't deny that Bremen have the status of a "big" club. There are many facts to consider, such as the size of the city and especially the stadium (which was pretty small for a long time and only vastly improved in the last ten years. It will be the size of SJP when the latest "upgrade" is finished in a couple of years. Average attendances will further raise too). Anyway, I don't see the point in solely looking into decade old data to define the current status of a club. Of course, history matters, but the "size" of a club isn't fixed, especially it is possible for clubs to grow. Would you reject Bayerns claim to be a big club because they were rather small until the early 60s (in fact so small that they were not deemed worthy to get chosen for the Bundesliga - in contrast to Bremen btw). Bayern's success came in the late 60s and 70s, and attendances only started to grow after they build the Olympic stadium. And what is with those "big" clubs who had huge attendances and success several decades ago. Do they remain big clubs just because of their long distant history? I know these kinds of arguments from German fans as well (for size read tradition). It normally comes from people who have a massive inferiority complex and are desperately trying to prove something. Whatever this actually is... Pay no attention Stevie, he doesn't even know where South Shields is man. Bastid! My taxi driver even could distinct the strange directions I told him (to the cash machine at Ocean road),I guess just half an hour more and we would have successfully inviaed Poland.... [Happy Face: many thanks to your aunty, they were brilliant, I guess I will stay there again in the future!]

It's just over an hour from Hannover to either Hamburg or Bremen. Both decent cities and "big" football clubs. Bremen is also the home of the Becks brewery who make a decent beer (the real Becks - not the shite Becks Vier stuff you get in England).

I know someone thats been to La Bombanera for Boca v River, and he said it was pwopa mentuw. The same kid has been to an OF game and said there is just no comparison in terms of colour and atmosphere, to the big derby in Argentina, which I personally believe to be the biggest club game in world football. What you have to remember is only English and Scottish sides have a longer history than Argentinian sides. Their league was up before any mainland European league. Alex, they stopped doing flight to Berlin. I've been to Ajax, and other grounds in Holland, France, Belgium and Spain watching England and the toon, but I think a few kraut trips could be good. Hertha v Schalke, Dortmund v Schalke, Hamburg v Bremen, Bayern v Stuttgart anything like that would be good, or even something down to earth like St Pauli v Hamburg. Watching a Hertha game is probably a good idea as you'll have the best chance to get tickets. It will be more difficult for those "derbies" you mention. St. Pauli vs. HSV isn't going to happen in the near future if not for a cup game. Isn't HLX flying between Newcastle and Hannover? You get sometimes decent offers from HLX. Hannover isn't a bad team currently and the stadium quite nice (haven't been there myself since it got rebuilt though). Also it's not too far from Hannover to Hamburg ... or Kassel to watch a proper team.

Maybe Blackfriars on the way back from SJP?

Worlds 2nd oldest league to change world football!?
Isegrim replied to Kid Dynamite's topic in Newcastle Forum
It's a good idea if a applied with common sense. Of course football is emotional and the odd swearing out of frustration is part of the game. I find the full foul mouth tirades of the likes of Smith, Rooney (who has cut it down a bit though) embarrassing and think no player should get away with it. -
Wow, how original...
